Summary; When Tohru's mother arrived in The City, it was obvious what their next step would be. Just WHO has been watching her suddenly 17 year old baby girl?
Log;
It still felt surreal. Tohru could barely wrap her mind around it, but it was actually happening all the same. She was here. Her mother was standing right next to her. The feeling of elation and happiness she felt was indescribable. She’d prayed and begged, and had wished for nothing but the return of her mother when the accident had taken her. After all this time she was actually here with her right now. Hand tightening over her mother’s sleeve she was almost afraid to let go. She didn’t want to lose her again. The entire walk home she hadn't released her mom.
“We’re here,” She said, turning around to give her mother a bright smile. “This is where I’ve been living! It’s a really cozy apartment, and everyone is so wonderful! The city provides a lot for people even though it seems like everyone is stuck here.” Taking out her key she moved to open the door but found it was already unlocked. Ah...I was in such a rush to leave that I hadn’t even locked up after leaving. At least there were people in the house. The feeling of joy she felt was nearly tangible. The people she really cared about…they were actually going to meet her mom! This had to be the happiest day of her life.
“Tadaima!” she said enthusiastically as she entered the building, slipping her shoes off. Kyou and everyone would be so amazed! She was a like a kindergartner who had the best show-and-tell. She was excited that she actually had to chance to introduce everyone to the most important person in her life. Not to mention....they had SO much to talk about. “I’ve brought home the most wonderful person ever!”

Tohru had gone, and Shigure gave a sigh. He liked having a girl around the house, especially a high school girl, who cooked, and cleaned, and was so very easy to tease and manipulate. He'd visit Ayame later, he decided, and drown his sorrows on his best friend.
Yet, Shigure paused, hearing the door slide open and the sound of voices echoing down the hall. His nose wrinkled, as he slide against the wall, peeking out down the hallway. He was mature, really he was... when he wanted to be.

For days she had barely left his room, nursing him back to health as he'd suffered from the flu. There wasn't anything that had taken her away from his side...until now. The arrival of her mother had Tohru leaving him in the middle of checking his temperature without a single word. If he'd not recognized the voice, he would have been very confused.
To say he was conflicted was an understatement. He'd spoken briefly with Kyoko as Tohru had rushed to her side, wanting to ensure Kyoko was briefed enough to be prepared for a Tohru that wasn't the daughter she'd remembered.
He was happy, really...for Tohru...for Kyoko...
As Tohru's delighted voice rang out over the apartment, the ball of lead sitting in the pit of his stomach churned back to life. Pulling his blanket up to his chin, Kyou slid down to rest his head firmly on his pillow as he closed his eyes, pretending to be asleep. He wasn't ready to deal with any of this yet.
He was happy for them. Things were how they were supposed to be...they were together. Biting his lip as a lump formed within his throat, Kyou squeezed his eyes tighter in an effort to block out the pain.
I've just lost everything...

She smiled happily at the person grinning at her with joy. It reminded her of those goofy smiles she saw whenever her baby got really excited or happy. They had to be the same person, right? It wouldn’t really make sense otherwise.
I wonder… what kind of mother I was to her. Tohru was definitely happy to see her and Kyoko was very grateful for that. But she couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was wrong. When they first met in the City, the teen clung to her so hard it was as if she believed she would disappear in a puff of smoke. Did Kyoko go somewhere during her daughter’s childhood? She didn’t just leave Tohru and Katsuya behind, did she? The teen spoke so strangely and formally… it reminded her of Katsuya a little. What if Katsuya was left to raise Tohru all by himself? Her expression pained slightly. She had so many questions to ask her, but she didn’t want to bring down the mood. The last thing she needed was to see her sunny daughter upset.
For now Kyoko let go of it all, making her smile a tad brighter. There would be a time and a place later for everything; there was no need to worry about that at this moment. And to tell you the truth, she was kind of excited. She wanted to know all about the older Tohru and the friends she had made. What kind of person she became, her likes and dislikes… By the look of that guide, they were going to be here for a while, so why not learn more about her daughter as a teenager?
She laughed at Tohru’s enthusiasm. It was adorable. “The most wonderful person ever?” She slipped her shoes off as she followed the brown-haired teen.
“I’m coming in!” She chimed, making her way into the apartment. Now, where was that ‘lout’ that guy warned her about?

"Eeto...Shigure-san? Yuki-kun?"
Kyou was upstairs. He'd been feeling ill all week so she knew he was likely right where she'd left him, but she thought the others should have been around. Come to think of it she hadn't really seen Yuki all day. Her mother having appeared in the city, she wasn't thinking too much of where they had been earlier.
"One of my roommates has been sick...so he's likely still in his room! Demo...the others should still be here..."

He heard the voices, of course, and hated himself for hesitating. Granted, none of the Sohmas had really been prepared for something like this to happen it seemed, and Yuki wasn't any different--and for a moment, he didn't have it in him to move at all. Simply standing down the hallway in the apartment, the silence of the apartment was more than evident and he cringed to himself. He should just step out and say something--if anything to be polite. Tohru was probably happier than any of them could imagine and... What reason did he really have, to hesitate?
Honda-san deserves that we be happy for her. It's unfair to...
He laughed soundlessly to himself.
To be afraid of letting her go. Isn't it?
The memories Yuki had of Honda Kyouko were clear and vague at the same time, and in that moment, they flooded his mind almost mercilessly. Memories of a mother desperate for her lost child, vivid alongside those memories that he knew through Tohru and her constant accounts of the woman. Meeting her in person... wasn't exactly something he was prepared for. Yet something in him compelled Yuki to finally step forward, and somehow the other steps followed soon after, almost strong, though it was a mechanical sort of confidence. Could he really claim to care about Tohru Honda if he didn't have it in him to be supportive now?
If she was leaving, it was to go back to where she felt she belonged. Tohru would never have to know, how much she'd be missed, or how much she was really needed, if it was only going to trouble her.
His voice came politely and with a practiced charm. "Ah, Honda-san? ... Welcome back." His smile was a sincere one.
