For the life of him, Zolf Kimblee couldn't recall why he and the Lieutenant were on such foul terms. She was a good solider, talented sharpshooter, and had risen the City ranks rather spectacularly. Shouldn't he be proud of his countryman? Had he ever congratulated her? Not sincerely, how horribly rude of him ...
From his seat outside the cafe, the alchemist reached a tattooed hand down absently to scratch the ears of Dante's dog. The animal responded with a lazy thump of his tail against the sidewalk. Kimblee smiled. Bombastus really was a very obedient and amiable creature. Why hadn't he ever taken the animal out for a walk before?
The alchemist pursed his lips slightly in thought, eyes looking past sandwiches wrapped for travel and covered coffee steaming through those tiny plastic slits, before simply shrugging. There was no use dwelling on the past ...
