Summary; Blowing off some steam, making lewd pool ball comments the usual!
Log;

Gun lesson completed, critter captured all in all, Jack Harkness viewed this as a good day!

Good enough that he rented out a back room with a pool table, some tall tables with chairs and even a dart board for himself, Kyle, Ianto and Gwen to enjoy a relaxing evening. Not that watching a movie hadn't been relaxing but this also had the added benefit of pool balls, beer and nachos!

Jack was more about the nachos and had a large glass of water for himself but had paid for a pitcher of beer for the other three.

The room had that lingering smoky scent that wasn't over powering but which gave the place a nice pub like feel, especially with the live music from elsewhere in the establishment was being pipped into the room at a level that still allowed for conversation.

Speaking of which!

"All right, kids how would you like to do this? Teams?"

Kyle lounged against the side of the pool table, drink in hand, tapping his foot absently in time to the music drifting in from the main bar.

He wasn't quite sure about the nachos, given that they looked likely to make his arteries want to shrivel up and die, but the beer he was completely fine with.

"Teams? Are we playing for anything in particular?"

Because he had the sneaking suspicion that Ianto was a pool shark.

"Bragging rights, mostly."

Gwen was leaning back against the opposite wall, her own beer in her hand as she eyed the nachos suspiciously.

[identity profile] king-coffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-01 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Pool shark? Ianto was saying nothing.

"Bragging rights, and the right to not have a turn when it's your round for the drinks."

Bravery, Ianto had it. So, he ate a nacho.

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2008-12-01 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
And that naked wrestling comment deserved a casual Italian leather ankle boot applied to Jack's toe, didn't it? Kyle thought so.

"Don't talk with your mouth full," he admonished, then turned to Ianto and raised an eyebrow.

"With me?"

[identity profile] protect-them.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Gwen pushed away from the wall, wincing a tiny bit as she turned to walk closer to Jack. "This means I'm going to lose, unless Jack plays dirty." A quick smirk is tossed his way, along with a waggle of dark eyebrows.

[identity profile] king-coffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Jack, that's disgusting." He'd lost count of how many times he'd had to tell Jack off for talking with his mouth full.

At Kyle's question, Ianto grinned and nodded, and then moved to stand by him, just catching Gwen's comment.

"I have a rule. No groping."

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't be a big baby."

Kyle leaned a bit into Ianto's side and grinned at Gwen. "He deserves it, mostly."

He smothered a laugh at Ianto's 'rule' and then didn't bother smothering the next one at Jack's reaction.

"Last I heard, groping wasn't part of pool, Jack."

[identity profile] protect-them.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
A matching grin was aimed back at Kyle as she patted Jack's shoulder in silent apology for the teasing. "Groping is always part of whatever Jack's doing."

[identity profile] king-coffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
"See," Ianto said to Kyle, "groping is how Jack wins. He does it to put his opponent off."

And yes, Ianto had tried groping in retaliation. It either never worked, or they ended up having sex.

"But I agree with Kyle, there's no groping rules in pool."

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Uh huh, sure. Kyle thought Jack probably had something else up his sleeve, but he couldn't put his finger on what.

He shot a questioning glance at Ianto and shrugged.

"Wrack away?"

[identity profile] protect-them.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't hurt yourself, Jack."

Gwen was busy picking through the cues there, looking for just the right one. Always meticulous, after all. A moment later, she was picking at the nachos, licking her fingers after take a rather large one.

[identity profile] king-coffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Ianto's eyes narrowed instantly. He knew Jack was up to something, he just had to figure out what.

He nodded, though.

"Yeah, no problem. Kyle, do you want to break or should I?" The key was, after all, to pot at least a few on the break for an advantage.

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Kyle noted the top-up and reflected that if Jack's new plan was to get them too drunk to lift a pool cue correctly, he'd have to do better than that. Welshman could hold their liquor, after all.

He smiled and inclined his head towards Ianto.

"Go ahead and break. I do better picking off individuals," he said.

And since everyone else had, he indulged in a nacho too.

[identity profile] protect-them.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Gwen found a spot to lean against the table to watch Ianto break, her own beer being drained in the process. "Kyle, that didn't sound good, you know."

[identity profile] king-coffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ianto however, hadn't seen as he'd been too busy chalking his cue.

Smirking at Kyle's comment and Gwen's reply, he moved the white ball a little to the right, and leaned down to line up his shot.

It might've looked odd, as he was aiming for one of the side cushions.

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Kyle kept half a wary eye on the conversation he couldn't hear going on between Gwen and Jack, and the other watching Ianto set up his shot.

It seemed like the Welshman was going about breaking in a strange way, but Kyle figured he knew what he was doing so he didn't mention it.

[ooc: And I have to go to bed, guys. I'll tag again tomorrow~]

Gwen leaned up a bit to catch what Jack was saying, not really paying attention to the game for a moment.

[identity profile] king-coffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Taking the shot with a short, fast strike, the ball bounced off the right sided cushion and then the back, to hit the rear of the triangle instead of the top.

The result was that the balls rolled into much better playing positions, and a stripe rolled merrily into a pocket.

...he was going to ignore Jack and Gwen's muttering for now, but he was keeping an eye on them.

"So, do you want to alternate on single shots, or full turns?" Ianto asked Kyle. He held out his cue as though he was letting Kyle make a choice and he wanted the other man to have a good cue.

[ooc: *Sees the time* Oh dear, I should too XD Sleep well!]

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Kyle was glad his predictions about Ianto seemed to be coming true. He'd made a very good choice of partner indeed!

"I think that we'll alternate turns, just to keep a rhythm going," he said, thoughtfully declining the pool cue just yet.

If Ianto had a lucky streak, he wanted to reap the benefits for as long as possible, and vice versa.

"Looks like we're stripes."

[identity profile] protect-them.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Gwen just grinned up at Jack before she slipped away from him, moving to lean back against the wall closest to him. Now her attenion was on the game and she let out a low whistle at the way the table was laid out.

[identity profile] king-coffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
It had been a pretty good break, and Ianto was able to pot another two balls, and leave one in position over a pocket.

He wasn't as good as Tosh, but, well. He'd played a few games in his life.

"I'm always luckier in stripes," he grinned to Kyle as he handed the cue over. It was a hood cue after all.

He looked over to Jack and Gwen. "When you two are done whispering, want to take a shot?"

Yeah right, Jack, like that nonchalance was fooling anyone.

Still, Kyle couldn't see any advantage the two had gain with their little talk and Jack's disappearing act.

He accepted the cue from Ianto and leaned back to watch Gwen take her shot.
