Log, ongoing;
When; Thursday 5th December, in the evening.
Rating; PG-13
Characters; Gwen Cooper Williams (
protect_them) and Ianto Jones (
king_coffee)
Summary; Gwen and Ianto head Underground to help their Captain.
Log;
Underground was getting to be a familiar place, Ianto decided as he reached the way in, knowing that if Gwen wasn't there, then she would be there very shortly.
He knew that he couldn't let worry for Jack get in the way of this. He and Gwen, would do this, successfully, and then they'd enlist Martha's, or the Doctor's, or anyone's help in getting the antidote. Then, and only then could Ianto give in to his worries.

"Not good. He was deteriorating quickly when I left, although he's doing his best not to die. Kyle's looking after him, talking to him."
no subject
Yes, it sounded like a callous question but coming from someone that had sat with Jack for days after Abbadon had sucked his life away, it was meant in the gentlest of terms.
no subject
He knew Gwen wasn't being callous. "He hasn't, no. I think that's why Jack's trying so hard not to die. But Jack needs someone to be with him, and the both of us need to be here. So that's why I left Kyle with him."
no subject
"Well then, we don't have enough time to just stroll along now do we?"
no subject
"Not really. Pick up the pace?"
no subject
The footsteps sped up into the dark.
no subject
"How do we eve know how many different kinds of snakes are here?"
no subject
"... we don't. We have to find anything that matches any venomous snakes we'd find back home. Surely they're going to share some kind of physical resemblance, right?"
no subject
"Anything resembling terrestrial would have been covered by the antitoxin kit." he said, shaking his head, "I say we grab every single different snake we come across."
no subject
Another sigh came from Gwen. Snakes had never been anything she'd been fond of, but in their line of work, they sometimes had to deal with things they didn't like so much.
no subject
Ianto lunged, and caught a snake, doing his best to catch behind it's head, so it couldn't bite him. It still thrashed wildly to get free.
no subject
"That one's a bit on the small side. We might want to see if there's anything larger here..."
no subject
For now, after all, he was using this to keep his mind off of his worry for Jack.
But he remembered something.
"Jack said he was running through the sewer water when it happened."
no subject
"Can't feel a bloody thing in there with those on."
no subject
"Do you want to get bitten too? You can't do that with your bare hands."
no subject
She paused, head tilting a bit before she yanked a hand out of the water, sending drops flying. Clutched in her hand was a the head of yet another snake.
"Oh, I hate these things..."
no subject
"Don't be an idiot," he said, probably sounding harsher than he meant, "what use will you be if you're bitten too?"
no subject
As she fussed back, she sank her hand back into the cold water, slowly dragging her fingers along the bottom.
no subject
He was dragging his hands through the water as well, and even with the gloves, he managed to snag a snake. Oh, it was the same as Gwen had caught, so he threw it back.
"Worried or not, I would still be saying this. What exactly will I be able to do by myself, if you get bitten? Not only will I have to look for snakes, but I'll have to look after you."
He dug some more. "In fact, I'd probably have to abandon the search to get you out of here."

They're both going to stink after, but he doesn't care, and he doesn't think Gwen does much either.
no subject
"Christ, Ianto! Get it!"
no subject
"Did it break through?"
no subject
"Just keep looking."
no subject
"Did it's teeth get through the glove?"

"Well then..."

It wasn't often Ianto cursed, and stripping off a glove - he wasn't going to put a hand in the water - he dug around for his phone.
He left a message on her phone (http://miss-jones.livejournal.com/6696.html?thread=658728#t658728), and went to pick Gwen up.
"Don't you dare protest. The last thing we need is you walking around so the poison spreads through your body."
no subject
"Found it a lot faster than I thought we would."
no subject
He set her down and not really caring, pulled off his rather nice tie to make a tourniquet to at least stop the poison spreading further, and then picked Gwen up again.
"Yeah, well done. I bet you always find your keys straight away." He was trying to keep Gwen in good spirits, at least.
no subject
"... yeah. Well, 'cept for the time I lost the keys in the shower... "
no subject
"I give up. How do you lose keys in the shower?"
no subject
Of course, there's parts she's left out and is quite unlikely to tell since it involves her own lack of foresight and the simple fact that neither her nor Rhys were any good with home and flat repairs.
no subject
"And what were you doing with your keys to have them in the shower, hm?" He knew it was best to keep her talking.
no subject
The pain from the bite didn't seem to be spreading as much as it should, so Gwen peered down at her arm.
no subject
"Just a sec, love. I've got to phone Kyle." He shifted her around, still walking so he could press his phone to his ear.
