Log//Ongoing

When; Afternoon/Evening February 22nd
Rating; PG
Characters; Shiki [personal profile] concept_killer and Taiga [personal profile] palmtoptaiga
Summary; Not much to say here. Shiki screwed up due to Valentine's Day curse and now he's out to make up for it.
Log;
Admittedly, it was a bad move. No, not going out on this date. That was a good decision. The bad one was sneaking out early and aimlessly wandering around before stopping at a flower shop. Shiki decided to jet early because he didn't want Akiha waiting somewhere for him. Whew, that would lead to a horrible situation. So off at the flower shop, he ended up making a single purchase. Shiki sat around for a bit, calmly pruning it with his knife since he had time to blow.

Sadly, he lost himself in that time and was jolted out of his day dreams by a bell going off. Cursing under his breath, he ran down the road and into the correct apartment building. Stopping at the door, he took a few seconds to catch his breath and straighten up his jacket. A little over five minutes late, he was still okay. Hopefully. He'd find out in a couple seconds. Rapping on the door with his knuckles, Shiki stepped back and waited.

Taiga was pacing back and forth in front of the door when she heard the knock. She'd been pacing for the last fifteen minutes. Call it a nervous habit. And she was very nervous. Because this was all so complicated (wasn't everything?) and she didn't know how to deal with it. On top of that, Ryuuji wasn't here to tell her to calm down, wasn't here cajole her and keep her focused. She missed him more than ever.

Missing him wouldn't do her any good. Hadn't done her any good. She was on her own in the City.

And Shiki, who already owed her for his colossal blunder on Valentine's Day, had arrived late.

Let him off the hook? Please.

Tugging on the hem of her dress (he told her to wear something nice, and she actually listened), she took a few deep breaths and tried to clear her head. Then she reached out and yanked the door open, her game face on.

"You're late, maggot."

Shiki was always so unfair. She was poised to give him a swift kick to the shins, but then he went and pulled the rug out from under her. It was annoying, the frequency in which he did that.

Equally annoying was the fact that she had already started blushing. Eyes on the ground, she twiddled her thumbs.

"Daydreaming? About what?"

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-22 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Shiki? Nervous? He had to be pulling her leg. Or worse, placating her. Taiga peered up at him suspiciously as he dug through his pocket, and crossed her arms.

"I'm pretty sure you don't have a pony in there. And you said you'd surpass my expectations."

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-22 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Ideas? No, not really, Shiki. Sure, Taiga acted like a tough girl, but she was still a girl, and whether he intended it or not (he'd asked her out, hadn't he?), she saw the rose as a romantic gesture. Her blush deepened. Her heart began to pound.

A rose. Of all things...

"You...I..."

Before she could make an even bigger fool of herself, she grabbed it from him.

"Thank you," she mumbled.

SORRY HAD TO EAT

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Shut up, Shiki," she said absently, preoccupied by her rose. Before, she told him to be careful or she'd really start to like him. Before, he told her that he wasn't concerned.

Obviously.

She started to grin. A stupid, giddy grin that part of her realized he could see, but she didn't care at the moment.

When she finally tore her eyes away from the rose, she noticed his hand was extended toward her. He expected her to take it, didn't he? A normal girl would take it. Ryuuji would say she should take it.

...so she did. And she probably held on too tight, but he'd just have to deal with that.

"Wh-" Stop. Pause. Careful, careful. "Where are we going?"

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
To be perfectly honest, Taiga didn't really care where he took her, so long as he put effort into it. Though good food would reflect very well on him, too- if his cooking was any indication, she felt she could trust his judgment in that department.

"Getting a little flabby, Shiki?"

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Are you saying I'm fat?"

She increased the pressure on his hand- her nails were a bit on the longish side, so he'd definitely feel something -though she did follow.

She'd deal with the anemia comment after he gave her a suitable answer.

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
"That's what I thought."

She loosened her grip a little and picked up her pace just enough for them to walk side-by-side.

"How is your anemia? You've been careful, right?"

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
You learn new things every day, huh? At least, that's what it seemed like where Shiki was concerned. Her life was a cake walk compared to his...but it wouldn't change anything.

She looked back up at him (why did she have to be so short?), eyebrows raised.

"Every month? There's no way to stop it? Or predict it?"

In response to his last question, she shook her head.

"As for me, you don't need to worry. Unless you tick me off, I'm fine."

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
"So that's what you meant when you said..." she trailed off, unwilling to let his not-sister spoil her mood. Akiha was a tetchy subject- Taiga appreciated what she did for Shiki when he was younger, and she knew they were important to each other, but. Let's just say Akiha and Taiga would never be bosom buddies.

She switched to the other topic.

"My roommates? What about them?"

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Taiga snorted. So she wasn't the only one who thought Konata was squirrely. No doubt her roommate meant well, however...she did eavesdrop a lot. And Taiga sometimes felt she knew more than she was letting on.

"Maybe she's psychic."

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, no he didn't.

She immediately let go of his hand and jumped in front of him, jabbing her finger against his chest.

"If I ever found out you were psychic and you nosed around in my head, I would turn you into minced maggot."

Taiga shot him an exasperated look.

"Because you're a boy. And you're...you."

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
She almost screamed. Almost. Instead, she blurted out, "I'm trying to say you're a pervert and you're the boy I like so you don't need to see wha-"

Cue mortification.

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
"You wouldn't if you enjoy living," she snapped, falling back on her own defensive tactic.

Though she had to admit, it was nice to hear he liked her. She wasn't used to liking someone and having the sentiment returned.

"Stop petting me."

Could do without the hand on her head, though.

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't care about your simple facts."

Actually, she did, but there was no reason to tell him that. Straightening her dress, she saw the sign outside the restaurant.

"Is this it?"

[identity profile] palmtoptaiga.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Shiki being a gentleman? Not bad, not bad. Taiga grinned at him and stepped through the open doorway, hoping her stomach wouldn't start to rumble. She was pretty hungry (no surprise there).

"Good boy," she said over her shoulder.
