THE "VERY BREATH OF SPRING" PARTY; OPEN
When; Daytime, March 21st
Rating; PG
Characters; EVERYONE~
Summary; Is thatloveSpring I smell in the air~?
Log;
Two tall white curtains cover the entrance to the tent that has been set up in Xanadu. It looked small enough from the outside, but it was unexpectedly light and bright from the inside. The ceiling of the tent has been made to look like a clear blue sky dotted with thin clouds here and there. A myriad of pastel-colored flowers cover certain areas of the tent.
You would be graciously forgiven for thinking you were still outside.
On several curtained stalls were chefs preparing finger foods for anyone to take, while waiters and waitresses circled the place with trays of decadent drinks; forget the 12 PM rule and indulge yourself. Most of the guests have already arrived in bright-colored attires, drinks in hand and chattering away with strangers and friends alike.
In one corner, a group of musicians perform Classical pieces; all happy and celebratory, of course. There were to be no dancing today, but talking was very encouraged --as well as appreciating the beauty of nature.
It was hard work organizing everything in record time after the unexpected curse day yesterday, and Blair thought to herself that she would love some hard drinks after this.
She has had less than four hours of sleep last night, but it surely did not show; such was the miracle of under-eye cream. Meticulous hair, polished make up, and a checklist in hand, she was dressed like a mannequin with her Christopher Kane, Louboutins with a Judith Leiber piece. Nothing overly glamorous today, but she did not stop herself from adding a little something.
Pour te prouver mon amour, que veux-tu que je te donne?
She ticked off the final item and made a sigh of relief; Finally. There was a reason why Blair Waldorf always had a back-up plan, after all. Nonchalantly, she handed the checklist to a passing waiter then screened the crowd for the highly-anticipated guests of the day.

Not that Arthur didn't have his own motivations of course. He genuinely liked spending time with Blair and was eager to see her. The prince was in what was explained to him was a very stylish, very expensive black suit and tie with a white shirt. It looked very similar to any number of suits he had seen men in the City wear. Again, Blair assured him it was fit for someone of his station. The only concession he had made was that he wore his sword as his left hip.
When he saw Blair he gave a small smile that turned into a very big smile. She looked amazing. She looked in her element.
"It's a good thing I did bring my sword," he said. "I'm going to need to fight for the right to be your escort tonight."

Blair turned to him with an equally wide smile. Easily coming up to him, she smoothed a small crease on his shoulder. He did look good in a suit, plus it must have taken him hours to get that tie perfect, knowing how clumsy he was with it just the other day. She fixed a stray strand of his hair back in place, quite enamored by his eyes in the process. My, they are pretty.
"You look amazing." He may not be as much in his element as she was, but he certainly looked the part. The sword was a nice touch, plus the line of course. "I think you've won your right when fixing up your tie." She loosened it about his collar a little; he was trying hard, she knew, but he looked like he could barely breathe.

At her compliment he ducked his head just a bit. When she loosed his collar he let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
"Thank you," he said. "That feels much, much better."

She definitely stood out from the rest of the partygoers at this party she claimed she wasn't going to attend; but that was her. Cindy bullshitted people everyday and stood out at public affairs. That was her job. It was also her job to stand in the middle of the tent, downing glasses of free champagne. If she was going to suffer through politics today, Cindy wanted to be good and buzzed for it.

She circulated through the guests and made small talk with them and thanked them for coming, as was her job. She spotted the woman in the red dress earlier and had slowly made her way over to her. The City was known for beautiful and striking people but even here this woman stood up. It made Kara feel just a bit self conscious. Going up to the woman she smiled broadly and offered her hand.
"I'm Kara," she said. "Thank you so much for coming."

This would be easier if Arthur hadn't left without her. The stubborn, inconsiderate fool.
Morgana swept into the garden, smiling sweetly even as her cold eyes searched the crowd.
no subject
When he spotted Morgana he immediately headed towards her, happy to see a familiar face. He felt a bit odd though, being in such a strange outfit that the suit was, but he took comfort at the sword that hung on his hip.
"Morgana, it's good to see you," he said, smiling at her.

She at least knows how to dress herself to the point of looking presentable, hair straight and understated. Her father might kill her for the length, but he's not here, and Claire likes heels as much as the next girl, even if she finds herself more prone to sneakers and jeans these days, winding her fingers around drawstrings and the hems of sleeves that fall past her knuckles.
There is a tin box filled with clock-faced cookies in her hands, and she looks as much for a place to set it down as she does for a way to avoid Blair. If she has to buzz in and buzz out, she's alright with that. At least she's swallowed her pride enough for this month. And if she runs into the other girl, well... that's alright, too.
Placeholder because some of us sleep.
Striding over in her green dress and matching heels, Kara smiled at the other girl.
"Hi, I'm Kara," she said, offering a hand out. "Thank you so much for coming."

Sipping on red wine, the white-clad blond projected a casual air as he slowly circulated the 'room'.
no subject
He was not bad-looking in any standard, although he might be a bit too serious for her best friend. The girl always liked the wacky types better, damn if Blair knew why. Even as she casually took a sip of her champagne, she was sizing him up to decide whether or not to introduce him to Serena.

He decided to come to the party because Blair is his friend; even if sometimes they don't see exactly eye-to-eye. And he's not really tired, even though he feels like he's been squeezed through a tube, in a way.
So he parks himself near the refreshments, and shuffles his feet every once in a while.
no subject
"The main question of the day: are you enjoying yourself?" She knew that he was probably in a less than good mood, considering all the things that had happened. Still, if the party made him just a tad happier then she could say it was worth it. He looked like a pretty lonely wallflower from afar.

After a minute or so of watching from her vantage point by the musicians, she headed over in the hopes of claiming the hug she'd promised to give him. "Hello, Blue!"

She’d been dwelling on thoughts of her family all day, actually. She supposed that was only natural, though, given the circumstances. It would’ve been nice if she could’ve been with them today, either at home or in the City. Still…the City and home were two different worlds, and each afforded certain opportunities that the other couldn’t. And Daddy would’ve wanted her to be happy today, no matter the circumstances. Besides, it’d give her something lovely to tell them all about when she finally made it home.
Rosella absently smoothed down the skirt of her dress (http://i44.tinypic.com/maberm.jpg) and stole a peek down at her shoes (http://i40.tinypic.com/wrhsgx.jpg) as well. Not quite a court gown, perhaps, but lovely nonetheless. And at least the dress was long this time; that was a familiar comfort. She wandered around a bit, looking at everything there was to see, and then finally took up a position near the musicians as she glanced around for the sight of any of her friends.

Perhaps it was her new relationship. This was the first place larger than a restaurant that she and Tony had been at together, and for reasons she couldn't quite explain it made her nervous. Like she was a bit on display, or perhaps it was just nerves.
The place was lovely and Romana made a note to push back the anxiety and enjoy herself.
no subject
Coming up behind her he placed a hand on the small of her back and handed her a flute of champagne.
"You know, I've been meaning to ask you," he said. "Are all Gallifreyans beautiful or are you considered exceptionally gorgeous even amongst your own people?"

Anyway, he wasn't planning on staying long--he was here to support Kara and maybe meet a few new people, but fancy parties weren't really his thing.
no subject
All this, and there is of course the obvious.
Hiro won.
The temporarily flying Petrelli has quite the smile on his face much of the time for that fact alone.
no subject
It had sounded like his world was on a similar evolutionary track to hers - what with people discovering they had powers and having to learn how to deal with them. It made her curious, and besides - she needed to talk to someone soon or risk looking like a total wallflower.
"...it's Peter, right? I don't know if you remember me, I'm Rachel."
no subject
And it had to be for Kara, because she didn't really know anyone else here...
...although she probably could have gone awhile longer without seeing Tony Stark face to face. Damn. Making a note to avoid letting him see her Rachel wandered the outskirts of the party, wondering if anyone else she knew was around.
no subject
"Rachel," she exclaimed. "I'm so glad you came!"
