Log;

The light was just beginning to shine through the dense brush of the forest when Tsubaki arrived in the clearing for her 'demonstration'. She had managed to completely her morning routine in plenty of time, and still have the minutes needed to prepare some lunch for afterwards.

It wasn't a necessity, but she felt it was something she aught to do. The first time Black☆Star had held her in Fey Blade Mode he had barely managed to hold out for a few seconds before passing out. Who knew what could happen with Obito, so at least with food he could get his energy back quickly.. The fact he was from another world not withstanding, soul resonance was tricky, and took a good bit of time to master at the start. And yet she had easily agreed to demonstrate to this boy. Well, he reminded her of her meister in a way, and he did seem interested. It wasn't like this would hurt him anyway, she would be sure to keep control of her soul wavelength.

Speaking of which, wasn't Obito meant to be here by now? she wondered.

Time and Obito were not the best of friends. Possibly because friends were supposed to be side by side, not one constantly chasing the other, who was just about visible on the horizon. He wasn't even sure how it happened half the time, but here he was late again. Or not here, since he was currently sprinting over to the forest, feeling guilty for keeping Tsubaki-chan waiting.

He was vaguely able to sense her presence, enough to guide him to the clearing where he promptly jumped down from a tree, rolled and lay flat out on the ground, panting.

"Sorry I'm -ah- late, I -ah-" She didn't deserve one of his lame excuses so he grinned hopefully instead. Since this was their first time meeting in person, he'd wondered whether she might look weaponish - maybe a hook for an arm or something - but she looked perfectly normal, if not upside down, from the way he was lying.

"Thanks!" He accepted the drink gratefully as he sat up, and chugged it down. Dashing through forests always made him thirsty. He was nowhere near as prepared, luckily for the both of them having just about managed to fling his clothes on in the right order.

It was a kind gesture and he was reminded of Rin, who was equally sensible. Tsubaki-chan's comments had been helping him along in the space of his missing teammate and it was comforting to find there were universes out there that weren't completely different from his own. Since arranging to meet he'd been mostly pumped up: this was no ordinary training session. But at the back of his mind was a worry he'd do something wrong and hurt her. Even someone as smart as Shikamaru couldn't figure out what would happen, since so much was unknown.

"Are you nervous?" he asked, standing up and looking a little antsy.

Being in the forest reminded him of how he nearly burned a portion of it down when he first arrived, but his jacket had gallantly sacrificed itself so that the nature could remain undisturbed. By amazing luck, he'd been able to find one just like it in one of the clothing shops, and a little old tailor, who'd been half deaf and had taken a lot of yelling to get his order across, had sewn the important large Uchiha crest on the back. Obito wasn't known for his subtlety.

Her confidence made him relax. He hoped her partner didn't put them in danger, but then that was sadly the life of a fighter and it was vital to toughen up early or risk not coping later on. He shook himself a little and a determined look overcame his face.

"I'm ready to start if you are," he said, not sure what would happen next. Would she transform much like he would a henge? Or did it require some kind of ritual?

It is like a henge, he thought, happy at the familiarity, although he noted it was flashier than a puff of smoke. That kind of speed was useful in battle.

When she made contact with his hands, he immediately recognised what wasn't quite the feeling of chakra but a life force he'd never experienced when holding a weapon before. If he hadn't been expecting it, then he probably would have dropped her in shock, but as it was he simply enjoyed what felt like a powerful weapon. He also blushed a little, since it felt personal, holding someone like this.

Keen to train, he swung his arm round, letting go of one of the scythes so it followed as he spun it like a lasso then throwing it sharply outwards towards an imaginary enemy. Before it could hit the ground however, he pulled it back and caught it again, grinning.

"Hope you aren't dizzy," he said sheepishly. Maybe he'd got a bit carried away.

Now talking he'd been prepared for, since she'd explained a little what she was capable of in weapon form, but he certainly wasn't ready to see her in the reflection and...well, no getting round it...it kind of sort of looked like she wasn't wearing clothes in there. Not that he could really tell, but the dark material he'd seen moments before around her neck wasn't there any longer and his reply involved looking ahead as if he were concentrating on something. Which he was - trying not to blush.

"I find training relaxing," he said to a nearby tree, "Well, so long as I'm not struggling with a new technique. But just getting back to basics, doing the moves I've been doing for years, I can sit back and enjoy it. There aren't many things I'm good at," he added with a bit of a laugh, "so I've got to hold onto the ones I am."

The latter was said as he threw her into the air, making some seals and calling out "Bunshin no jutsu!" Several Obito clones appeared out of nowhere, one stepping forward to run at him, the illusion becoming more obvious when the grass wasn't trampled under his feet.

sorry this is late, it was kind of crazy yesterday :D

[identity profile] keepinganeyeout.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Obito concentrated on what she said, since he knew what his bunshins would do, being a part of him after all. Tsubaki-chan always seemed so knowledgeable and yet often agreed with what he said in a way that he could tell wasn't simply humouring him. It gave him support and helped him not feel like an idiot one hundred percent of the time.

He sliced through the oncoming illusion quickly before ducking and looping the chain round the second's middle, causing that one too to disappear in a puff of smoke. Despite the clones having his image, it wasn't strange to him to be fighting himself.

"Hey, tell me about this soul thing you mentioned," he said, curious, and starting to relax at the reflection of her in the metal, enough to smile at her as the weapon came to rest in his hands again.

He nodded as she explained, even if the finer details went over his head. "Even though we don't have anything like that in my world, that still somehow makes sense to me. Connecting with your weapons on another level for more power. And it's a power born through teamwork. I can get behind an idea like that."

Mulling the differences over in his head now he wasn't training for the moment, it occured to him the similarities. He grinned. "I've had an idea!" Rare words for the Uchiha indeed. "It's something you might be interested to see. I'm going to put you down for a moment."

Very, very gently he put her on the ground and made a seal. In a puff of smoke, he clunked down next to her in the form of a large, henge'd shuriken.

[identity profile] keepinganeyeout.livejournal.com 2009-04-23 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Weapon!Obito...was silent. He only kept for the form for a short time before suddenly reappearing as the familiar dark haired ninja with a grin on his face.

He caught the end of her spluttering and chuckled. "I can henge into a weapon, or another person, but it's only temporary. The better you get with chakra, the longer you can hold it." His face grew a little more serious, looking down at her intently. "But it feels fake. I mean, it is an illusion. But you actually become the weapon. It doesn't compare, really." He couldn't help another laugh. "Though your reaction was still fun!"

He stretched his arms above his head. "I guess if you ever want to have a go on the other side, you could try throwing me around in weapon form. Bet I could hold it for five minutes!" he boasted, which wasn't very long at all - other chuunins had the concentration required for a much more impressive time - but Obito was prone to distraction and an underlying lack of confidence meant he often released the form early by accident.

"Tsubaki-chan," he said with a blank face, "That made no sense to me. At all. But, anyway, let's make that our next training session!" Because he was having a lot of fun and hoped she'd want to continue to hang out with him. He missed having someone purely nice around. Not that people like Sakura weren't nice, but at the same time she also terrified him. Usually when arguing, no, warring with Ino-chan in a way that made his rivalries seem minuscule.

Now he'd stretched - being henge'd like that felt kind of cramped - he flopped down on the grass next to her, taking a rest for now, since he had more questions. As usual.

"How often do you use your soul resonance? Is it only for mega-tough enemies? Does it have any negative effects? Have you used it with other weapon users?" he rambled, asking each question as it came to him with no pause for her to answer until he came to a halt, looking like he might think of another- no, he was done.
