Log; Ongoing
When; Thursday 26th, Early Afternoon
Rating; G
Characters; Uchiha Obito (
keepinganeyeout ) and Tsubaki Nakatsukasa (
mytechskeeper )
Summary; After explaining her world and how it works, the ninja tool offers to show the young Konoha ninja what it's like to work with a living weapon.
Log;
The light was just beginning to shine through the dense brush of the forest when Tsubaki arrived in the clearing for her 'demonstration'. She had managed to completely her morning routine in plenty of time, and still have the minutes needed to prepare some lunch for afterwards.
It wasn't a necessity, but she felt it was something she aught to do. The first time Black☆Star had held her in Fey Blade Mode he had barely managed to hold out for a few seconds before passing out. Who knew what could happen with Obito, so at least with food he could get his energy back quickly.. The fact he was from another world not withstanding, soul resonance was tricky, and took a good bit of time to master at the start. And yet she had easily agreed to demonstrate to this boy. Well, he reminded her of her meister in a way, and he did seem interested. It wasn't like this would hurt him anyway, she would be sure to keep control of her soul wavelength.
Speaking of which, wasn't Obito meant to be here by now? she wondered.

He was vaguely able to sense her presence, enough to guide him to the clearing where he promptly jumped down from a tree, rolled and lay flat out on the ground, panting.
"Sorry I'm -ah- late, I -ah-" She didn't deserve one of his lame excuses so he grinned hopefully instead. Since this was their first time meeting in person, he'd wondered whether she might look weaponish - maybe a hook for an arm or something - but she looked perfectly normal, if not upside down, from the way he was lying.

With that, she got a flask out of the bag she brought with her and carried it over to the boy who lay sprawled on the gorund. Once she was near enough, she crouched down beside his, offering the other a drink.
"It's alright, I wasn't waiting that long." she replied, smiling back in response to his grin, unscrewing the cap on the bottle. "Here, you look like you could use this."

It was a kind gesture and he was reminded of Rin, who was equally sensible. Tsubaki-chan's comments had been helping him along in the space of his missing teammate and it was comforting to find there were universes out there that weren't completely different from his own. Since arranging to meet he'd been mostly pumped up: this was no ordinary training session. But at the back of his mind was a worry he'd do something wrong and hurt her. Even someone as smart as Shikamaru couldn't figure out what would happen, since so much was unknown.
"Are you nervous?" he asked, standing up and looking a little antsy.

Needless to say, seeing the nervousness in the boy made her blink in surprise as he asked his question. She paused for a moment, before smiling warmly back at him.
"Well..." she hummed, a thoughful look on her face. "Let me put it this way, with a meister like mine I've learned to prepared for anything. He can be quite a handful, adn rather reckless, so I doubt you could be as bad as him." she chimed, thinking of the the big stupid grin her technician always wore.
How many times had that attitude nearly got them killed? But they made it through. There was no danger out here really. Besides, she doubted anyone in any world could be as silly as her meister, so it didn't seem like Obito could make any mistake bad enough to do damage. At least he was being careful. Black☆Star would have already done some killer move and chopped the forest down by this point.

Her confidence made him relax. He hoped her partner didn't put them in danger, but then that was sadly the life of a fighter and it was vital to toughen up early or risk not coping later on. He shook himself a little and a determined look overcame his face.
"I'm ready to start if you are," he said, not sure what would happen next. Would she transform much like he would a henge? Or did it require some kind of ritual?

Sighing, Tsubaki stood up, and looked at her young friend, encouraged by his words.
"Alright, hold out your hands." she instructed, taking a few steps back, steadying herself, smiling all the while. "And here we go."
With a single flash of light, the gril was gone, and a pair of hand scythes linked together by a chain appeared in the air, ready to land in the ninja's hands.

When she made contact with his hands, he immediately recognised what wasn't quite the feeling of chakra but a life force he'd never experienced when holding a weapon before. If he hadn't been expecting it, then he probably would have dropped her in shock, but as it was he simply enjoyed what felt like a powerful weapon. He also blushed a little, since it felt personal, holding someone like this.
Keen to train, he swung his arm round, letting go of one of the scythes so it followed as he spun it like a lasso then throwing it sharply outwards towards an imaginary enemy. Before it could hit the ground however, he pulled it back and caught it again, grinning.
"Hope you aren't dizzy," he said sheepishly. Maybe he'd got a bit carried away.

She felt the movements, her form swinging around the air, and being pulled back. It had been a while since she felt these sensations, at least in the City. At home she was in plenty of use, though she wished it wasn't the case.
On hearing the remark, she giggled a bit, before casting herself into a way the ninja could see and hear her, appearing in the shining metal, her image reflecting from the blade and looking up at Obito.
"Not to worry, I'm used to it." she said, completely content. "You seem to be enjoying yourself."
no subject
"I find training relaxing," he said to a nearby tree, "Well, so long as I'm not struggling with a new technique. But just getting back to basics, doing the moves I've been doing for years, I can sit back and enjoy it. There aren't many things I'm good at," he added with a bit of a laugh, "so I've got to hold onto the ones I am."
The latter was said as he threw her into the air, making some seals and calling out "Bunshin no jutsu!" Several Obito clones appeared out of nowhere, one stepping forward to run at him, the illusion becoming more obvious when the grass wasn't trampled under his feet.
no subject
"Well, in practising the basics, you strengthen the foundation to other techniques. No one can master everything, but that attention to the first, and most important moves will only help you. Fancy advanced techniwues don't have any effect through a person who isn't strong in the basics." she replied warmly, a kind look on her features showing the in the reflection.
Needless to say, watching these strange moves, Tsubaki was quite impressed. It was a very innovative way of practise, and though the images were not real, there would still be impact with targets around. To someone who had never seen such a technique, it was remarkable.
sorry this is late, it was kind of crazy yesterday :D
He sliced through the oncoming illusion quickly before ducking and looping the chain round the second's middle, causing that one too to disappear in a puff of smoke. Despite the clones having his image, it wasn't strange to him to be fighting himself.
"Hey, tell me about this soul thing you mentioned," he said, curious, and starting to relax at the reflection of her in the metal, enough to smile at her as the weapon came to rest in his hands again.
No worries, tis understandable with the crazy of yesterday. =D
Once the sequence of attacks ended, she appeared once more in metal surface blinking at the question.
"Soul Resonance?" she asked, clarifying she was addressing the right subject. "Well, it's like amplifying soul wavelengths of both meister and weapon to create more power and effect in attacks. The weapon acts as the amplifier for the meisters soul wavelength, and in resonating their souls with each on the same vibe, it causes the reaction to become stronger, amplifying more power, if that makes sense." she rambled. though still smiling back at Obito, knowing it must have sounded peculiar for someone who'd never experienced it.
no subject
Mulling the differences over in his head now he wasn't training for the moment, it occured to him the similarities. He grinned. "I've had an idea!" Rare words for the Uchiha indeed. "It's something you might be interested to see. I'm going to put you down for a moment."
Very, very gently he put her on the ground and made a seal. In a puff of smoke, he clunked down next to her in the form of a large, henge'd shuriken.
no subject
However, the sight of the boy vanishing, only for a shuriken to appear where he stood baffled her.
The girl had to blink rapidly as she looked out through the blade, eyeing the other weapon in surprise; what had just happened?
"Obito? I don't...how did you you..." she babbled in some confusion.
no subject
He caught the end of her spluttering and chuckled. "I can henge into a weapon, or another person, but it's only temporary. The better you get with chakra, the longer you can hold it." His face grew a little more serious, looking down at her intently. "But it feels fake. I mean, it is an illusion. But you actually become the weapon. It doesn't compare, really." He couldn't help another laugh. "Though your reaction was still fun!"
He stretched his arms above his head. "I guess if you ever want to have a go on the other side, you could try throwing me around in weapon form. Bet I could hold it for five minutes!" he boasted, which wasn't very long at all - other chuunins had the concentration required for a much more impressive time - but Obito was prone to distraction and an underlying lack of confidence meant he often released the form early by accident.
no subject
Sensing the tone, she softened her features as she looked at Obito, knowing it wasn't the same for him, but it was still something unique in her mind. Perhaps switching roles would let her show him that.
"Well I have wielded my own forms before, but that was only possible when inside my opponents soul. But well, if you're up for it I am." she smiled.
no subject
Now he'd stretched - being henge'd like that felt kind of cramped - he flopped down on the grass next to her, taking a rest for now, since he had more questions. As usual.
"How often do you use your soul resonance? Is it only for mega-tough enemies? Does it have any negative effects? Have you used it with other weapon users?" he rambled, asking each question as it came to him with no pause for her to answer until he came to a halt, looking like he might think of another- no, he was done.
no subject
"Well, you know that place you saw in my memory where I was fighting with Masamune? That...was his soul we were inside." she explained sheepishly. "But we can touch more on that if we keep training together, if you like."
She smiled up through the steel reflection, laughing to herself at the boy stretching out on the grass, even more so at his questions. It was hard to answer them all at once, but one at a time would do hopefully.
"Well, usually Soul Resonance is used in battle when required. Lower level souls that need collecting might not require it, but stronger evil souls and witches would mean Soul Resonance was essential. As far as I know there are no negatives, you just have to be careful on how you connect your souls, as a confliction between meister and weapon could mean hurting each other. And no, I've only ever resonated with with my partner up til this point." she finished.
