Summary; The attack against the Deus Ex Machina II and the Major begins.

The storm raged all around them as they prepared for the assault. The torrential downpour both helped and hindered the assault but the truth of the matter was that midnight had come and gone with no visible curse and after the Major's video taunt they couldn't wait any longer. The man would continue to hurt innocents until they gave him what he wanted, and Tony was more than willing to oblige him.

Supergirl flew out in front of him, intending to draw the brunt of the long range defenses that the other man might have set up. Sure enough, when she got close enough missiles exploded out of the zeppelin. The sheer number was impressive and while the girl had assured him she was fast and hardy enough to withstand the missiles and take them out he still liked to have a contingency plan.

A ways away rockets launched from City Solutions, his own building, and set upon an intercept path with as many missiles as he could cover. The HUD on his suit kept track of just how many enemy missiles were remaining and he was pleased to see the number rapidly decline.

When the missiles were no longer a threat Tony radioed to Kara to proceed on ahead.

"This is Tony Stark to assault teams," he said, using the channel that would reach everyone involved. "Initial defenses are taken out, begin with the boarding process and proceed to the assault. Remember that the rescue of prisoners is the primary objective. Ground defenses, keep an eye out and expect the attacks on the City to begin soon. You should all be proud of what you're doing and the stance you're making. Stay safe, stay on task, and good luck. Further updates to follow as events warrant."

With that, Tony knew that the boarding would begin. The information provided by Jack Harkness would give them an idea of where they could board and a combination of people with teleportation abilities, flight abilities, and shuttles that Tony built for just this purpose would transport the assault teams to the zeppelin.

It was time to give the Major what he wanted.

He stood on top of the envelope of his ship as the assault streamed forward, rain streaming off his long coat.

Down below, the V-2 rockets were igniting, their dangerous payload sent out towards the City and towards those who came.

Down below, soldiers locked themselves into their launchers, barely able to contain their glee, their sickening blood lust.

Down below, officers spirited the last of the important data before wiping all of it.

But up above, on the envelope, the Major raised his arms, as if calling for silence. With a dramatic wave, as the first rocket fired and the first troop launched...

He began conducting.

_{[[OOC: Just a bit of scene setting, I'm gonna be away all day, so no interaction, I'm afraid. He'll go back into the ship when he feels its time, IE, before anyone can air attack him.]]}

Aion stood beside the Major as he kept watch in the distance. They've communicated over the net about this possible assault occurring and if it were to stir a rebellion as the man had promised, the sinner wasn't about to deny him of aid. He had spoken with a deity in the past but what better way to further grab their attention by providing such a grand performance, he deviously thought.

A cynical grin painting his lips, he finally spots a possible prey approaching. He let out a laughter before changing into his demon form. "Ha ha ha, seems like it's time. Then let us take it to the stage. Our guests are waiting." He flew a good distance away from the zeppelin and stayed afloat as he waited for his opponent.

Supergirl had taken out the missile defenses when the... thing flew at her. It was some sort of demon or manbat or something like that. If it was a demon that meant that she would need to be careful. Stupid magic.

"Hey bat boy!" Kara shouted above the rain. "Let's see what you've got!"

As soon as she was done shouting her eyes glowed red and she let out a blast of heat vision at the thing.

Bat boy;;; Aion adjusted his glasses with amusement and quickly turned his body to dodge the beam. Well, that was something unexpected. She was no human that was certain. The sinner stared towards her as he voiced himself with open arms as if welcoming the other. A little talking wouldn't hurt, especially if it were to buy the Major some time to execute.

"Ha ha ha! No need to be in such a haste, young lady! Why not savor this grand moment and enjoy the show!?"

"This is me going slow," Kara said with a grim smile. While the City had dampened her powers somewhat, Kara could still move exceptionally fast when she wanted to. And right now? She really wanted to.

Without any other warning, Kara spend towards the thing even faster, hands out in front of her as if she was going to fly right into it like a battering ram. Which is what she intended to do.

Aion quickly drew his arms up to prepare himself. Grabbing her wrists, the demon gritted his teeth as he struggled against the force coming at him, trying to counter it with his own. He began to feel himself shifting backwards and aimed a knee strike to her chest to at least stop the forward movement.

Kara gave a small grunt of pain as the demon's knee hit her chest. The thing was strong, strong enough to take make her realize she couldn't just smash her way through this. Strong enough that she needed to get him away from here.

She twisted her hands around so she could grip his wrists as well.

"Let's go for a little flight," she growled, reversing her direction away from the zeppelin.

It wasn't working. The girl was stronger than he thought. Though the idea of pulling her away from the zeppelin wasn't a bad idea. Aion carefully timed it, monitoring the distance away before pulling his lips into a grin. He formed his arm into a blade and gave a thrust forward, aiming to pierce her in the process of his escape.

The arm-blade thing caught her by surprise and she twisted out of the way, but not fast enough. She cried out in pain as the blade grazed her side. Definitely some sort of magical creature then, if it could hurt her like that. Grimacing, she revised her options. Staying this close to it was not a good idea. Well, she'd have to make him let go.

"I really like this outfit, you bastard," she growled, her eyes once again glowing red. If he wanted to hang on to her then he'd have to deal with getting heat vision point blank to the face.

Finding out she wasn't immortal was a good thing. Aion held onto her with his left hand as he prepared to confidently strike again with the right when the heat wave took him by surprise. He grunted loudly as it hits the corner of his temple and glasses, blowing them away. Feisty girls always managed to entertain him so well.

His balance knocked off from trying to dodge the attack, the demon threw her forward to counter act the force as he shoots an energy ball towards the girl right after with his left hand.

Oh great, he could shoot energy attacks too. That was so unfair it wasn't even funny. You should not be allowed to make your arm into a sword and shoot energy bubbles.

She dodged to one side and hoped that the attack wouldn't hit anyone behind her down on the ground. The guy was pretty agile so heat vision wasn't super effective. Time to try a more broad ranged attack. Taking a deep breath she exhaled, blowing subzero temperatures at him. They'd see how well he did with ice on his wings.

The blue-white glow of alchemy mirrored the energy streaking the sky - blazing a crackling path which ended in a thundering rupture of its chosen medium. Said explosion engulfed a group of attackers, but also a few of the Major's men. Kimblee indulged for a second in the shock wave, body buffeted even behind an array of counter charges. Killing intent thick and coming at him from all sides, the alchemist transmuted handfuls of gravel into deadly shrapnel ...

The feeling of alchemy throbbing through veins flooded with the adrenaline of battle, then fluxing - bursting - into unbridled destruction beyond his body ... death, including your own, at the edge of even the slightest action ...

Suit soaked through, hair whipping about his face, he threw back his head and laughed.

... this is what the Crimson Alchemist lived for.

[ooc: Thought I should throw this thread here, as to give people a chance to confront him, since Kimblee is out and about (per his chat with the Major) taking advantage of the chaos and whatnot. Anyone is welcome to engage him, or not, but I would like to request that he come out happy and with only minor injuries from this whole affair. Though, if you feel otherwise do hit me up on email/AIM and we can discuss. I will be in the throes of moving this weekend, but will try to tag as time allows~]

He was on the edge of the explosion when it went off and took with it a good portion of his group members as well as the enemies they were fighting. His ears were ringing as he sluggishly picked his body back up.

Ganta looked down at his hands and noticed how the had become injured through the course of the event which had transpired. A flash of light could be seen eminitating from underneath his shirt as the boy held his right hand in front of him while the blood itself began to shift and drift towards his open palm and take the shape of a small orb.

Spying a target moving through the ranks he fired his Ganta Gun, hoping to stop whomever it was that was in the distance.

[ooc:Feel free to beat him like a red headed step-child.]

"Yuck. Zombies..." And who knew what on earth the other guys with the rifles were!? What was it with The City and freaky things? No matter. It did make slashing and hacking her way through their lines far easier. Umi wielded her sword out of sheer force of wrath, all the frustration she'd been feeling during the last days seeping out of her with every thrust of her rapier. This was what she was meant to do: she'd become a Magic Knight to protect Cephiro, but now the people stuck in The City along with her were as much her responsibility to protect.

Hikaru, Fuu, Mokona... They were going to get mad when they found out she'd come. But Umi didn't regret her decision. It went further than just rescuing Huey and everyone else who had been imprisoned by this other creep. It was a matter of making a stand so that no one like Mayuri thought they were free to work their cruelty.

A large explosion illuminated the corridor right beside her, taking down a couple of her teammates. She didn't hesitate, "Mizu no Ryuu~!"

The massive wall of water crashed on her adversaries like a tidal wave, extinguishing what flames the outburst had stirred. It worked. Her magic worked, fueled further by the damp weather. Nothing had been taken away from her. She gritted her teeth and slashed through the next undead creature to attack her. That was all that mattered.

Herding helpless civilians to safety while fiery terror reigned down from the skies above -- yeah, it was another Tuesday in the life of Reeve Tuesti. One of the nice things (he thought sullenly) about coming to the City was that he'd given up this line of work. But he had a friend in there, even if he didn't usually recognize Reno as such, and further more it was just the right thing to do.

Of course, there'd been a time in his life when he hadn't done the right thing, and that time had been a lot less complicated.

He saw with some relief that the elimination of the missiles had been successful. There wasn't a whole lot they could do about that if some had gotten through. He wished, not for the first time, for a Summon materia. Or even a really good Barrier. What he had was a Fire, an All, two mastered Restores and the Bolt he'd borrowed from Cloud.

His fingers curled around the orbs, feeling their warmth. It would have to be enough.

Anita stayed within sight of Reeve, both hands bearing guns. Her eyes stayed busy looking for incoming threats to the people they were trying to protect. Honestly, she wasn't sure if Reeve'd seen her all business before.

A few feet away, Gateau crouched in a fighting stance, his hands curved into fists. It had been a while since he had fought the ravages of injustice, but that hadn't lessened his passion any. The Major was scum, and Gateau was ready to do whatever it took to bring him down.

Marron had already placed several ofuda nearby. If a barrier was needed then he was ready to provide it. Until then, his eyes were closed and his hands formed a seal in front of him. A little time and he would be able to call upon Byakko.

Just a little more time.

Reeve glanced over at the mage, recognizing that they'd never had their talk about their respective forms of magic. He looked forward to it, when he wasn't focused on other things.

He saw movement as the troops began to land far off, advancing towards them at a maddeningly slow pace. And all together too quickly. He closed his eyes and when he opened them, a soldier, still dozens of yards away, caught fire and began to burn.

One down.

Advancing legions to go.

Her thumb in her mouth, Anita bit down hard enough to draw blood and in a flash, she was on her way into the fray. Several of the fodder zombies just stopped when she touched them and the ones that didn't lost their heads in a flurry of motion.

Gateau felt new respect for his coworker as he, too, charged into the fray. Unlike Anita's sophisticated attacks, his approach was more simple: grab zombie. body slam. Repeat as necessary.

Gold eye flew open as he said something in a language unknown to anyone here. A white tiger formed of wind slowed the zombies down. He knew it wasn't enough to do any real damage. But, it would slow them down enough to allow more attacks and give him time to do more.

His hands quickly formed more seals as he watched the chaos before him.

He needed Suzaku.

Zombies around Anita were going up in flames, dozens at a time. He knew his love could take care of herself, but as she was in the thick of it, he saw no reason not to give her the help he could. He trusted Marron to look out for his own lover.

She spared a thought that she didn't need him lighting up the zombies since they weren't much threat to her or anyone around her, but since he was helping, she turned her attention to the ghouls approaching. She'd faced them before and knew they were a little harder than the cannon fodder zombies.

A wicked grin curled her lips as she launched herself at the lead, her beloved Browning sending gore out the other side of its head. Before the motion was done, she was already shifting to face another.

A head flew off of one near Anita as Mat finished swinging his bladed quarterstaff. Already he was in motion to take out another. He was late and he knew but better bloody well late than never. He could help here.

"Sorry for taking one of the flaming things from you."

The weapon swung around his neck, stabbed a ghoul and then took it's head off in one move.
