He grinned into his cup listening to Dawn being a smartass. It felt familiar, she would find herself perfectly at home on the Upper East Side. The wisecracks were right there with the best of them.

Not a curse meant there was a possibility that it wouldn't go away on its own... "Maybe there's someone in the City capable of helping with lost memories... Or something like that. Magic, or some sort of technology for that..." there was so much incredible stuff in the City, maybe there was something, or someone, they could use to help Serena...

And then she asked... And he couldn't believe she did. He raised his eyebrow and glanced at her.

"You do know, I'm perfectly capable of lying to you today..." He pointed out. Yesterday's curse seemed to be over. He thought for a moment. He wasn't okay. And he didn't want to tell her that.

"Unlike you, I'm used to drinking all night. But you might get more of an answer when I've had some sleep."

"I know a couple people who could help, if it comes to that. I still think give it a few days, see what's the what, then go for magic." Dawn frowned. "Not that I'm usually all voice of caution-y, but it's easier to go leaping into the fray when it's only your brains that might go all scrambled and weird."

Innocent look firmly planted in place, Dawn shrugged. "Yeah, and you can if you want. I'm fully prepared for competition level fibbing. I just... had to ask. In case you wanted to talk."

Oh look, a distraction! Dawn held up one finger, shaking her head. "I didn't drink at all, let alone all night, thanks."

Chuck shrugged. "If you want to wait before calling in for help, it's your choice. You're the one who will party for the third night in the row tonight," he pointed out with slight satisfaction. He might've been looking forward to seeing that. NOt that he would admit to it. Maybe later.

He took in the innocent look and shook his head. "I really don't," he said and took another sip of his coffee.

He welcomed the distraction, grateful that Dawn offered. "Water shots, I take it."

"My feet will heal. Magic and brains plus City type spells going wonky? I think I'll take the being tired and sore over Serena's mind getting all hinky for good." She groaned, leaning down to rest her head against the railing for a moment. "Oh my God, don't remind me. I'm just lucky Buffy has amnesia right now, too. Do have have any idea how she'd respond to me staying out three nights in a row?"

Dawn nodded agreeably. "Okay. Then don't. I just had to try."

Distractions are good! They keep things as light as needed. "And cranberry juice and vodka, sans vodka. No alcohol passed my lips at all. Yay me."

"I can imagine. Big sisters are probably even worse than big brothers. I take it you're not going to tell her, even after he gets her memories back... That is probably the best idea..." He still remembered the punch Dan Humphrey threw at him. And with Buffy's super strenght... He'll pass on meeting that particular older sister in person.

When he heard about the cranberry juice he shook his head and looked at Dawn with a mocked disgust on his face.

"You're disgusting," he said, amused with the entire situation.

"I think I'll get some slack for you know... doing it to help Serena. And not drinking. But Buffy has this thing where she forgets I'm eighteen, and therefore not exactly in need of constant supervision." Skipping right over the part where sometimes she does need constant supervision, of course.

Dawn shrugged, laughing. "I like cranberry juice! And I couldn't exactly just order a Diet Coke and say it came with rum already there. Serena isn't exactly the sharpest right now, but she'd catch onto that lie, I think."

He took of his glasses, unable to hide the amusement.

"You do realize that in every bar they serve Diet Coke in whiskey glasses. Sometimes with ice or a slice of lemon. Regular Coke looks exactly the same in those glasses like the one with vodka, or rum... I'm just saying, because clearly you don't party all that much. For a girl who's eighteen"

"Kind of obvious, huh? I have very little in the way of party experience. But I'll take your advice on the Coke, because I'm a little tired of juice." Dawn is comfortable with this kind of amusement. She's not a partier by any stretch. Everyone knows it. And the teasing from Chuck is... actually really nice, in a weird way. If only because this is Dawn style banter, and the last two nights have been very confusing in trying not to be Dawn in any noticeable ways.

"You're coming tonight, right? Because I think Serena might be getting antsy with just me."

"I need to check up on someone first, but that shouldn't take long," at least he hoped so. "After that, I can pick you up. Or meet you in the club. We should definitely pick a spot you two haven't visited yet. Somewhere with music and good scotch. I refuse to become a do-gooder while completely sober."

"Okay, cool. And meet at? If I'm leading you on only to viciously crush you later, I think that's 'meet at' territory." Dawn laughed and rolled her eyes. "You make it sound like you're about to be tortured. I did say I'd dance with you, remember? You could try and pretend that you're not totally dreading it. If only to spare my pride."

Yeah, she's totally flirting a little bit.

"Maybe I'm not sounding to excited because I know you will 'viciously crush' all my hoped," he said with a smile, slightly leaning towards Dawn. He was Chuck Bass, he could smell flirting like nobody else. This was exactly the type of distraction he would appreciate the most.

"Don't tell anyone, but that's just the cover story. I promise, no vicious crushing will come to pass." Dawn doesn't exactly lean in herself, but she doesn't pull away, either. Maybe it's the pretending to be Georgina. Maybe it that the longer Conner stays missing, the more she doubts he's coming back. Maybe it's just that Chuck is cute and very determined. Maybe Dawn just makes very bad choices sometimes. But it's not like just flirting is a crime, or even cheating.

Pulling her sunglasses slightly down with one finger again, Dawn looked at Chuck mock seriously. "Just our secret, right?"

"I won't tell a soul," he whispered and moved away. He didn't rememeber Dawn to be so much fun. She definitely didn't flirt with him when they had lunch for the first time after he got here the last time... But he was not about to say that aloud.

"Good." Dawn shoved her sunglasses back up, turning her head to watch Chuck move away before looking down at the field again. Wow. Okay, so maybe Chuck was possibly diseased and a player and pretty much the textbook definition of Very Very Bad For Dawn Summers. He still had a really cute butt.
