Tea Party || log; ongoing
When; Sunday the 17th, afternoon
Rating; PG-13 for possible language, violence(!?) & moody magical girls
Characters; MKR crew plus guests
Summary; When Road's and Umi's long-awaited tea party finally occurs, the former doesn't truly expect that long guest list to be much of a problem. Why should she?
Log;
The house smelled of roses and homemade bakery. In, fact, the apartment had never felt as much like home as it did on that very moment. Umi looked around and felt completely satisfied with the arrangements. At least she'd managed to get the place to feel cozy in time to play host.
Right, so there'd been a couple of obstacles to overcome, like that annoying sleep curse. Umi made a face as she set down a plate of freshly baked scones on one of the decorated tables. The damn thing had had her off snoring all Thursday long. She'd needed to run to catch up once she'd recovered the spirit to crawl out of bed. It'd been a small miracle that the invitations had been written and delivered (a miracle made possible by Ken's and Rin's assistance) and the last minute shopping done.
Fortunately everything was in place and awaiting their friends' arrival. The tables were beautifully arranged with all sorts of homemade pastries. Several varieties of tea were available for the guests to choose from. C's and Kimihiro's help at the kitchen had been invaluable, and Road had done quite a great job at making the place look more festive. There would even be sake as a stronger choice of a drink for those Umi knew would appreciate it, thanks to Misao's own contribution.
The water Knight sighed with accomplishment. Finally a small celebration to make up for all the messes The City had put them through during the last weeks, including her fateful trip Underground. She smiled as she smoothed the skirts of her dress. Nothing could go wrong from here.
[ooc: I'm off to bed for tonight, guys. @_@ Please feel free to assume Umi wandered off and will be around bringing tea and cake to the guests. Take this wherever you want~ ♥]

"Don't start anything," he said, more of a suggestion than a command. Road would start something if she wanted to. Wryly, he added, "It wouldn't be a fair fight."

"Would I really do that~, Justin?" she asked, looking up at him, wide-eyed. He'd know she was teasing again, of course. "Fair has nothing to do with it." A bit more spite in her voice now. She really disliked Timothy.

He was positive he would see Road fight soon enough. What he was unsure of was whether or not her intended partner in the fight would be him.

She didn't need to be able to read thoughts to know what he was thinking - though of course she could have, if she wanted to. "Don't look like that, silly. It's only fighting if the other person can fight back."

Justin couldn't help but feel some measure of relief. Not a great deal, since Road was still very much psychopathic and a danger to society--far more so than he had ever been--but enough. "What is it if your opponent doesn't fight?"
no subject
"It's just playing~ then, of course." And while playing was fun, sometimes it was just too easy. She hadn't been in a proper fight in a long time now, against an opponent that could actually pose a bit of a challenge before she broke them down.

"Playing," he parroted, thinking about the kind of games Road enjoyed playing. Justin didn't personally mind the dressing up and playing tea party--provided no one saw him taking part in either--but her other ways of playing...
"Do you usually fight people in your dream world?"
no subject
"Playing," she agreed, nodding. She didn't really distinguish too much between her kinds of playing. It was all the same to her as long as she was having fun.
She felt a twinge of annoyance at him mentioning her powers out loud where so many people could hear him, but she didn't let it show on her face. She poked him in the side though. "Shh~. I fight however I feel like fighting at the time."
no subject
He didn't press the issue further and set about extracting his arm from Road's grasp. "I should go."
no subject
Road's look turned annoyed as he tried to pull away. "You've only just got here~! Come and have some cake with me."
no subject
When his arm failed to free itself, Justin objected with a half-hearted "I don't want to." He was, however, quick to give in to fate and Road's demand. "Cake?"
no subject
She started to pout at his objection - she hated not getting her own way - but brightened up again when he seemed interested. "Mmhmm~, cake or scones or other pastries. Umi did a lot of baking!"

"Good~!" Still holding his arm, she hauled him off towards one of the tables to make him try all the different sweets.
