Log;

The day had been incredible - Aya's reconnaissance had been made much easier with his borrowed powers. He was enjoying them, but refusing to let himself get used to them. He was distrustful of all supernatural things due to Estete and its influence over his life, and much preferred his boring little un-gifted self.

What things he had to ponder over! Youji, yes, and also the revelation that Omi had previously lived with Schuldig. Why him? Why was Omi so terrified of Ken, but had spent time with the Schwartz telepath who'd made all of their lives such a living hell? It had to have been a curse day, Aya told himself, hopping to another rooftop with something akin to obscene ease. It had to have been.

Soon enough he spotted the elder assassin, but instead of calling out, dropped from above and landed silently behind him, leaning in close.

"Balinese."

After breaking off contact with Aya (and that odd girl, whom he didn't really know and wasn't sure he wanted to, this place being the freak show that it was), Youji had fumbled around in his pockets and come up with a crumpled pack of cigarettes that was, thankfully, not quite empty, and a lighter. Thank god for small favors.

Of course, he should have known better than to call on some deity for any measure of good luck. His next inhale was marred by a great deal of choking when he heard a familiar voice say his codename -- next to his ear, where he was fairly sure there had only been empty air a moment before.

"Where the hell --" he managed, then coughed again. "Good to see you too, Aya, thanks for the heart attack."

"Physically? No. Last thing I remember, I was being shot at, but nothing hit. Mentally --" he waved a gloved hand, encompassing the dilapidated warehouse and the streets beyond with the gesture. "Could be better."

Aya was being much too calm about all this. True, when your life involved being an assassin, and you were periodically chased around by telepaths and so on, you tended not to react as much, but this deserved a bit of worry, didn't it? Then again ... Aya. Right. Youji's mouth twitched, and he took another drag on his slightly-bent cigarette. "So we're in this city and we can't get out, I got that. Anything else I should know?"

Youji was glad that he'd sat down before Aya started talking; behind his sunglasses, his eyes widened in disbelief.

If it were anyone else, Youji would have accused them of joking, but Aya, although he did have some pathetic vestige of a sense of humor, rarely used it, and the story was, besides, too fucking crazy for words. "Different ... worlds," he repeated, slowly, looking sideways at the redhead. "And Ken and Omi have been here for a month? How long have you been here?"
