Log: Ongoing
When; The day after Scarab met up with Pyramid Head
Rating; PG-13/R for drug use
Characters; Frederick Abberline (
bloodyuseless) and Scarab
noh_dancer)
Summary; Post-resurrection shenanigans.
Log;
Frederick shut down the slender metal computer (a laptop, he'd heard it called) that he'd been fiddling on in the living room, and stood up from the sofa. He'd been feeling rather on edge; the entire event having thrown him rather badly, and having kept himself from his standard vices since even before that. He just didn't think it would be proper to sit around doped up on opium while Scarab was trying to cope with life minus a few fingers.
Sporting only a wrinkled dress shirt and trousers, he slipped into the bedroom where she'd been resting. "Keico?"

"You're not," he assured her, looking over and meeting her eyes. "As crude and insensitive as it sounds, I suppose it's all just poor timing, really. It's been over a week since I've ... gone out to chase my dragons, as you put it. I guess I'm lucky I've not gone completely insane."
I'm staying strong for you, he thought, but didn't say it. Somehow, he knew she wouldn't really like the idea of him sacrificing anything on her behalf.

...And a thought occurred to her.
A risky thought, that made her bite her lip for a few moments in consideration.
She had told him when they first met on the city's public message board that she had little experience with anything to do with this...maybe he would feel better about it if she tried it along with him?
It was a gamble.
On one hand, he might take the suggestion well, and show her how it was done.
She knew most perscription pain-killers were Opiate based, therefore it would stand to reason this might help the throbbing in her damaged hand, and ease the sore tension from so much massive physical trauma.
...But on the other, he might take it badly and think a great deal less of her strength for even suggesting it.
She looked down, gathering courage.
..........And rolled the dice.
"Does it help? With pain, I mean?" She asked, sounding a little unsure, and naieve' to her own ears.
" Maybe....maybe if you showed me what it's like, it could ease a little pain for us both?"

He didn't know if he had a right to deny her. Part of him was excited in a way he hadn't ever experienced about the idea of sharing this with someone he cared about - it was a rather large part of his life, after all - and the other part worried about 'exposing' her to this sort of sordid business. But in the end, she'd probably seen as many or as more horrible things over the course of her life as he had, and her profession meant she was no stranger to the dark corners of the world. If it was her choice... he was more than happy to assist.
Besides, seeing the early signs of withdrawal in himself was not pleasant.
It was a bit of a bitch to set up, which was why Frederick tended to go pay to visit parlors where the 'professionals' assisted him, but he'd done it plenty of times himself. The bed was cleared off and the pillows arranged, and Abberline sat next to Keico, quietly explaining and showing her what he was doing.
It was too much to just let her smoke it straight, she'd never, apparently, taken any 'recreational' narcotics before, and smoking opium was among the harsher things to be done. After taking a long hit for himself, he touched her neck, stroking gently, and whispered quietly... explaining... and then took another, holding it within himself, and then leaned close, his lips brushing hers, and opening, breathing the drug into her.

In her time, drug use was largely cyberized: liquid nanites injected into cerebral access points for what amounted to an acid trip, and a near-catatonic state of euphoria.
Once, in Hokaiido, she had used such a thing to her advantage, and tainted a batch of the liquid intended for her mark.
This was far more interesting, and far less damaging than what she was used to seeing.
He explained the idea behind exhaling the pungeunt smoke directly into her mouth instead of her much lower tolerance being pressed by attempting to inhale it straight, but the sensation of his mouth on hers in a feather-light carress made her forget any pain lingering in her wrist.
She hadn't meant to, but he was so close, and it felt very nice...
She found herself leaning into it, and soon what had started as a light caress became a true kiss.
She didn't linger, she couldn't really hold her breath so long, but she didn't move very far away either.
She settled for retreating to rest her chin on his shoulder, in hopes he wouldn't run from her after this, but not regretting the moment one bit.

One arm wound about Keico's middle, holding her close. Abberline picked up her hand - the damaged one - and kissed it. He kissed her palm, spreading out he remaining fingers as he did so, and then pressing their hands together.
It was unfortunate that he had to release her hand to take another pull at the opium, but he felt the need to; he took another for her, just as soft and gentle as the first.

Her left hand settled over where his rested on her bared thigh, and she relaxed more agianst him.
Yes, she was attracted to Abberline, but this intimacy was more based on mutual comfort than something overtly sexual; something she had never experienced before.
It seemed to be a night for firsts.
Poetry and prose were swimming through her mind like colorful fish. Sometimes mixing and intertwining to become small phrases, sometimes drifting past one another before she could capture them.
Quietly she wrote a line that had been recurring in her mind with words and sound rather than pen and paper.
" F is for feeling, and friend..."
Another kiss ghosted across her mouth, and as she exhaled she continued.
"...friction...."
Curling around him like a cat, she brought her ruined hand back to his. Palm to palm.
"....fragment...."
He was silent now, and idly she wondered how much sense she was making, but decided it didn't matter just now.
She pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek, then ended the poem.
".... F is for feeling....."

He touched her face with his free hand, then ran his fingers through her hair. It occurred to him they were both far gone enough, now. He took another hit, then gave one to her, and put everything aside. Her words echoed in him, pretty and calming, creating different swirling images in his head.
He laid back, gently guiding Keico with him, so she was on her side next to him, one arm still around her. His vision was blurring in that way where it wasn't his eyes, but his mind, and he didn't care. It was a pleasant sort of floating, warm and comforting, euphoric. He thought about her tattoo, only now its design becoming funny. He turned his head to gentle nuzzle at her, that being the most motor control he was retaining, floating as he was.

Instead she curled next to him, her head pillowed on his shoulder and scooted closer for warmth.
Her eyelids were heavy, but she still responded to the gentle nuzzling with a little of her own, enjoying the tickling sensation of his hair on her cheek.
I don't want this to end she thought. The comfort of being next to someone she found herself caring about more and more without the barrier of her questionable proffession, a cover story or a false name in between was new and wonderfully liberating...
But she was so sleepy, and before she could even put together some kind of defense, she was asleep with her hand resting over his heart in order to feel his heartbeat even in her dreams.
