It was surprising that Kitty was as nervous as she was. She wanted it to go well for everyone’s sake and especially for Rachel’s. She wanted the chance to properly introduce Kaidan and for Laura to have a good time at her first party. She wanted it to go perfectly but she knew perfect wasn’t always the option, so she’d just settle for really good.

Along the counter in their kitchen they’d set up a variety of food including: deli trays with vegetables and dip, meat and cheese, chicken tenders, and barbeque chicken; about every type of sushi one could think of; chips and dips; and a few different types of Asian finger foods such as curried pastries, dumplings, egg rolls, and spring rolls. Kitty had also bought as many different cookies as she could and put them out on a tray, partially for Laura to try.

There was an entire stock of alcohol at the far end of the counter with a lot of glasses set up, because plastics cups are just lame. The main gathering ground would be around the kitchen and living room and that was where Kitty was currently waiting sitting on one of the couches.

“This better be a blast Rachel, or at least exciting,” she said with a laugh.

Looking around the room, Rachel wondered if she was gonna be able to make it in a crowd. Work was one thing, she could focus on the customers on the tasks, this was something else.

Oh, well. For Kitty she'd be the perfect party hostess. To that end, she decided to check on the food. She headed toward the kitchen

Kitty went into the kitchen herself in a minute and lingered around looking at the various stockpile of alcoholic beverages they'd bought. She was certain some of them she'd never tried. She picked on and poured herself a small glass, might as well since they bought it.

"So, if someone gets drunk do we have a camera ready somewhere?" She asked jokingly.

Kirk spotted Rachel heading into the kitchen and hurried after her. She had been acting strange lately and he was worried about her.

"So, did they close down Lux for the night?" Kirk asked as he came up behind her and matching her pace, intent on following her into the kitchen if that's what it took.

"I figured with how much you've been working lately, that's the only reason you would actually miss a shift," he said.

Kitty suggested he make nice and meet people, so he decided a little mingling couldn't hurt too bad. His first stop was the kitchen, for no other reason than the food lived there and he hadn't eaten anything since mid-morning.

He pulled up short when he saw the other person there. "Rachel?"

Scotty entered the kitchen and his eyes grew wide. It was...there was sooo much food!

It was only after a moment that he saw Rachel.

"Oh, hello, Rachel. This party's really shapin' up tae be an event."

Nate almost hadn't come. He'd never been to a party before, let alone a housewarming party. His idea of how was a bad in a wagon of the traveling theatre troupe the others were in.

Still, Rachel and Kitty were going an awful lot out of their way to make him feel welcome. Nate was more apt to believe that meant they wanted something from him but he had seen into Rachel's mind and not sensed any deception, although she had blocked part of it off from him. He figured though that maybe if he came here, he could find out what they were up to, if that was their goal.

As soon as he opened the door though, he wanted to run away. There were already a few people here and that made him feel on edge. Almost unconsciously he sent out telepathic suggests to everyone but Rachel to suggest that he wasn't there. Not enough to be invisible, but just enough to try and make them not notice him.

Rachel had kept an eye our for Nate, she wanted him to feel at ease here in the City, and while throwing him into a party with people he didn't really know wasn't the best solution, it was a start.

She breathed a sigh of relief when she actually saw him and quirked an eyebrow when she sensed him send out his little "I'm not here" message. She approached him with a small smirk.

"You know, I could just stand on a table and shout and undo all that fancy work you just did there. I won't," she hastily added, "but I could."

Kaidan had the hardest time deciding whether he should show up early or late. Late sounded irresponsible, but meant he didn't have to be the first to arrive. Early meant he'd be with Kitty and Rachel first, possibly, and would have a chance to adjust to the thought of a crowd before there was one, but he also didn't want to crowd, or seem like a special guest.

So, compromising with himself, he decided on 'just on time.' With his sizable parcel, he arrived. He recognized a few faces from the Network, at least of the guests who'd arrived thus far, and attempted to find Kitty, first of all. She wasn't hard to find.

He was happy to note the spot next to her on the couch was free. He took it, and placed the wrapped gift at his feet.

"Hello, there," he said, and leaned in, brushing his lips gently against hers.

She'd gotten her drink by then and it was sitting next to her having been refilled once already, she'd picked randomly so she wasn't even entirely sure what it was herself. Maybe the close your eyes and randomly pick wasn't the best plan.

Kitty smiled when he came up to her, very glad that he'd come. "Hey there yourself. We have food and drinks over at the counter if you want something. I think Ray's still hanging around there. Maybe," she said.

Having helped set up the party, Laura felt as if her part was over. Still, she'd said she would stay, even if she doesn't exactly see the purpose behind it. Talking to people over the network was one thing, but it was always infinitely more difficult to work out what to say in person. Though she felt comfortable enough around Kitty and Rachel, she didn't want to bother them, if all of their friends were going to be around.

Neither wanting to leave nor get in the way, Laura sat on a stall in the kitchen, and helped herself to an inordinate amount of cookies.

Rachel came over and leaned on the counter next to Laura. "Kitty will be glad you liked the cookies, d'you want anything else?"

The more people that arrived the more uncomfortable Nate felt at the party. People just didn't gather like this in his world unless there was a reason to, especially not this many mutants. The subtle telepathic suggestions he was sending out to ignore him just didn't seem like enough, so he headed into the kitchen to hide out. At least he could tell Rachel and Kitty that he was here.

When he headed ducked into the kitchen though and someone was there, he stopped up a bit short.

"Ahhh, I'm sorry," he said. "I was just... I didn't know anyone was in here."

Clyde had let himself in. He saw a whole bunch of people he didn't know. But he did recognise those snacks! He picked a crisp and looked around to see where Kitty was.

Kitty had been sitting close to Kaidan on the couch in the living room but had gotten up to go get a refill and say hi to who she thought was probably Clyde. She smiled when she approached him.

"Clyde yes?"

Okay, this one was new. Rachel approached the young man with a smile realizing that he must be a friend of Kitty's.

"Hi, I'm Rachel," she held out her hand. "I don't think I've met you yet."

Here, Clyde, have a Chekov popping up on your right. "Clyde? Is zat you?" He was very much looking forward to perhaps finding someone his own age here anyway.

Scotty'd been looking forward to the party for the last week. Rachel had promised food and liquor. That's all Scotty had needed to hear. Not to mention, most of their friends were here, and Scotty, more than anything else besides building things, really loved meeting people.

He nodded polite greetings to those he passed, but made his way to where the food must've been. He saw people with food and drinks, but no trays. They must be in the kitchen, and so, that's where he headed.

Kitty was attempting to be an amazing hostess and so she tried to at least get up to greet everyone, so when she saw who she thought was more then likely Scotty she figured she'd go say hi.

"Scotty?" she said with a warm smile.

Because this was a party for his girls and not one funded by Tony Stark, Logan was going easy on the booze, but that just meant he wasn't sitting next to a pitcher of beer or bottle of whisky. As promised, he'd brought enough to share, even if it was still mindboggling to think that Kitty was old enough to legally drink. She was an adult now, and so was Rachel, and he'd be the last person in the world who'd ever let himself feel abandoned. He just felt old and trapped inside his head with too many memories.

So he sat in a corner and watched the kids have their fun, drinking just enough to make the near-permanent background ache of the adamantium fade away and out of the way enough to keep any of his moods from souring the party.

OPEN; Kaidan's trying to be a dutiful boyfriend.

Having returned from the kitchen, Kaidan noticed the new face, giving off vibes of 'leave me alone' and 'don't mind me.' He hesitated to intrude on the man's private time, but he also knew Kitty would want him to meet the man.

He approached with due caution. "Excuse me, are you Logan?"

Rachel had let Logan get settled and mingled a bit herself before walking over to bring him a new bottle of beer and say hello herself. She smiled and pulled a footstool over so she could sit next to him.

"Thanks for chaperoning."

Kitty was really glad Logan had come. She'd spent a good deal of time wandering around attempting to say hi to everyone and was a bit grateful to get away from it to someone more familiar.

"Can a smile get frozen on your face? You know how people always say that when a kid makes an ugly face, that their face will freeze that way. Can it happen with smiles?" she said with a laugh.

After Nate talked to Rachel he went to find Kitty, which wasn't hard in the small crowd of the apartment. She seemed very outgoing and moved from person to person, chatting them up. Instead of following her around and waiting for an opening Nate found a quiet corner and waited until he sensed she wasn't talking to anyone.

Maybe it was strange that Kitty didn't even skip a beat when she heard Nate's voice. It wasn't familar like Rachel's, or Betsy's, or even Emma's but it was deffinitely his.

Chekov was nervous. He didn't get invited to parties too much, so I wasn't exactly adept at socially navigating his way through them. So he was currently hovering over by the snacks table a little awkwardly, sipping a cup of punch.

Rachel saw that Chekov had sneaked in when she wasn't looking. Immediately she crossed back toward the kitchen with a smile, a wave and a warm Russian greeting.

"Pahsa, you made it! Welcome!"
