Log; Ongoing
When; Sunday, mid-aftertoon
Rating; (you never know with those two) PG to PG-13
Characters; Thomas (
harrysbackup ) and Harry (
dresden4hire )
Summary; Beer and Bonding over a Boat, the three B's
log; Thomas had to admit, at least to himself, the skip in his step didn't have much to do with the sunshine or the fact that it was a relatively moderate late-spring Sunday. He was going to go do boy-stuff with his brother. They'd made plans earlier in the week to check out the status of the little sailboat and he'd been looking forward to it ever since.
Not that he'd admit that to Harry. He adjusted the crate of Mac's finest to a more confortable carrying position and headed to the pier where Harry said the boat was moored.

So when Thomas found him, Harry was looking at his little boat with a worried and slightly puzzled expression.
"I'd say we put it out of its misery and start over if it didn't have sentimental value," he said.

Well, crap.
He blinked again.
"This is going to take some time, my brother." He reached into the crate and pulled out two bottles. "Ale?"

"Do you know anything about restoring a boat?" Harry asked, once again taking in the enormity of it.

"Hope we're fast learners."

"I still don't know how you managed to get Mac's here," he said. "Not that I'm complaining."

He was quiet for a minute as his eyes roamed over the sun-bleached hull, the cracking rudder. "This is going to suck, Harry. Big time."

"You know, Boat Restoration for Dummies and their Wizard Brothers."

"Hey, you wanted a project," he said. "This is definitely a project."

He looked thoughtful for a moment. "We have to get it out of the water, first."

"We can keep tossing around names," he said. "But I like Fraternity. We need to build a dry dock too."

Even as he said it, he knew that neither of them were the type to have brought a paper and pencil in anticipation of needing to make a list.
"I figured mom would like us working together on something," he continued. "And I don't know, after all she went through in life, in the end she seemed to just want a simple life with my dad. I guess I thought it was symbolic, that something named after her could just sit here and float, go out with her sons every now and then, just have a simple life."

"I like it, Harry. Margaret le Fay it is."

"Alright, so we first need a book on what to do," Harry said. "Then we can figure out what tools and such we need."

"The librarians there can probably help us out."
