Yamino sat back on a bench to watch the spinning colors of the carousel. He twiddled his thumbs impatiently, anxiously. Sure the people around him seemed nice enough, but he'd experienced enough in his long life to know that some people enjoy deceiving others. He hoped it was not the case this time.

For the umpteenth time since his arrival, Yamino's mind wandered back to the mansion in his world where his family still lived. He wondered if they'd get sucked into the City's magical surrealism also, if they'd noticed he'd disappeared, and if they worried.

I can't really do anything about it, Yamino conceded. I have to worry about myself first.

He hoped Touya arrived quickly. He was starting to hate that dreadful constant ticking.

Touya had left his apartment in a prompt manner, simply because it would be rude to keep Ryuusuke waiting. It was easy enough to find the carousel, the constant ticking got louder as one drew nearer.

He'd walked quickly until he'd arrived at the carousel and then looked around for Ryuusuke. Finally, spotting his soon to be roommate he walked over, footfalls silent as he came up behind him and lightly put a hand on Ryuusuke's shoulder.

"Ryuusuke?"

Yamino jumped, startled out of his thoughts, when a hand touched his shoulder. He whirled around and came face-to-face with his new roommate.

"Touya-san!" He sighed with relief. "For a second I thought you were one of the monsters people keep talking about. Ah! Not that you're a monster of course, I didn't mean to insult you or anything by it," he added quickly, stumbling over his words.

Yamino stood, adjusting his glasses. His shaken countenance quickly melted into a good-natured smile. "Shall we go, then?"

Touya blinked as Yamino whirled around, had he startled him that much? He gave a slight smile at the abbled apology.

"It's fine." He said, now that the ticking was fading from his mind, he was in a better mood than he'd been in a while.

"Yes," he said with a nod. "Lets go. I'd rather not encounter the monsters that are supposedly everywhere."

Yamino felt more at ease when Touya smiled. He felt he was right about the ninja's sincere kindness.

"Supposedly? So you haven't encountered the monsters yet either?" Yamino followed Touya as closely as he deemed appropriate. "I've heard of one with a big pyramid-shaped helmet. There's only one, right? It's not like there are five or ten or..." His voice trailed off; he really didn't want to think about it.

"I haven't seen any of them so far, although I've only been here a few days." Touya answered as he continued to walk.

"As for the pyramid creature, I beleive there is only one. There haven't been any mentions of more than the single one." He paused. "Though one seems to be enough to set everyone ill at ease."

"Oh... Well, that's all right I guess, if there's just one."

Yamino gazed ahead at the looming buildings of various shapes and colors. They were rather...intimidating. "Which is building two?"
