Summary;YURI IS A PEDO What's a little late-night stargazing between friends?
Log;
All in all, it'd been a successful night. Not only was she wearing one of the dresses that'd been sitting in her closet forever, looking lonesome and silently begging to be worn, but she looked totally hot in it tonight. Her makeup was done, her hair was coiffed, her date... well, her date made good arm candy, even if they didn't quite match (too much hair between them) and he didn't properly appreciate social functions.
Well, that's what she got for going last minute on him. All she knew was, she wasn't going to sit at home and sulk because her original date (well, not that he'd known) had left the City.
But Ino was a girl of many means, and a girl thoroughly against feeling sorry for oneself (wrinkles, so many wrinkles), so she wiggled into her dress, slipped on her heels, twisted her hair up in a chignon, and forced one Yuri Lowell into a suit and tie and dragged him bodily to a ball. And it hadn't even been as hard as it sounded.
They danced a little, ate a little, drank a little (and Ino drank a little more), and now Yuri was walking and Ino was wobbling home, her arm threaded in his as she breathed in the crisp night air. The only problem now was, she couldn't stop smiling.

"That was so much fun!"

Thankfully, he still had his clothes (http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii356/thirteenth/Fanart/f70.png) from the school dance curse all those months ago. He felt a little reminiscent - it was the first time he and Estelle danced. Those were some nice memories.
Of course, he was also enjoying himself now, amused with Ino's energy. He tried his best to keep her from falling, but that was proving to be a very difficult task.
"Well, that's a relief. I couldn't tell if you were having a good time or not," he laughed jokingly.
no subject
"God, it's been so long since I've been to a party like that!" she exclaimed, slipping her arm out of his and bounding forward, spreading her hands out to indicate just how long. Thankfully, her balance wasn't completely shot yet, and she managed to twirl around in her high, high heels to face him. She tottered a little, but was otherwise as graceful as ever.
"I never thought I'd get to wear this dress, seriously," she added solemnly, smoothing down the fabric over her hips.
no subject
He meant a waste of nice clothes, of course. He didn't see the point in saving certain clothes for special occasions when some people didn't even have nice-quality clothes to wear on a daily basis. He really didn't understand that sort of thing. Yeah, what a country bumpkin.
Man, even then, he could hear the excited chatter of people ringing in his ears. He had to admit, Ino knew how to have one hell of a time. Though, he had no idea where they were headed now. Home?

Definitely shouldn't have had that last glass (or two) of wine.
The good news was, Yuri wouldn't hold it against her. Actually, it would've been awesome if she'd forced more alcohol into him. He must be missing Estelle and that friend of his with the boobs--Judith. Yes, she should definitely pity him.
"It's a special dress, Yuri," she explained slowly, as if he was five years old or retarded. "I can't just wear it to buy groceries or something."
no subject
He had one cup of some kind of alcoholic beverage, but it really wasn't his style. He preferred sweeter drinks like milkshakes, as weird as that sounded to everyone else. Hey, he liked what he liked. He didn't have much of a reason for it.
"I think if you did wear that going out, you'd get quite a few looks."
no subject
The only thing that made her even feel remotely better about holding down the fort was the you know I can't do it he'd added on. As if she could say no.
Now this was just making her feel huffy--
"Hey! Xanadu!" she gushed, blindly reaching out to catch Yuri's closest available body part--luckily, his elbow--then towing him along towards the park. Truth be told, she had no idea what she was planning on doing, but Xanadu sounded like a good idea in her head. Better than going home, anyway.
Better than calling the night over.

"You're acting as if you've never been here before in your life," he said as he admired the scenery at night. There were a few stars shining brightly in the night sky, and perhaps he preferred those to the flowers. Stars- perhaps the so-called 'Brave Vesperia' star was up there somewhere. What a joke.
no subject
It reminded her of Konoha, even if it wasn't exactly the same.
Suddenly, Ino had the urge to share a part of that with him; she knew why impulse had made her bring him here. "Come on!" she urged as she lead him through a copse of trees, dirt crunching under her shoes, until they emerged into a blessedly empty field of grass. Perfect.
no subject
"So what's up? Got the sudden urge to go hiking or something?" He kicked up some dirt and rocks, hands stuffed in his pocket as a light breeze rolled by.
no subject
"We have to find a good spot!" she said, but didn't explain any more than that--he'd like the surprise. And if he didn't, she'd punch him. Somehow.
no subject
He walked up to a spot near the middle of the clearing. "What about here?"
no subject
With a rush of energy (and a little alcohol and a high on life), she threw herself into his back, winding her arms around his neck and squeezing.
"It's perfect!" she cried, using her perch on his shoulders to stare up at the sky. "Now take off your jacket."
no subject
Not that he didn't notice the curve of her body, the warmth contrasting with the chilly wind.
"As you command," he said, chuckling.
no subject
"Good boy," she pronounced cheerily, before reluctantly sliding back down to the ground to give him room to work. Without her heels on, he was much taller than her, about a head's worth of height, so it was a long way down; she kept a hand on his arm for support.
"Shikamaru comes here to watch clouds," she explained enthusiastically, circling around him, staying close enough to feel the heat of his body--it was cold, alright, and he was warm. "I really don't see the big deal with cloud watching or anything, but it's like, his thing." At that, she made airquotes and rolled her eyes, before adding, a little more softly, "But I like watching the stars better."
Then she tugged playfully on the end of his tie, and winked. "Don't you?"
no subject
Heh- Ino certainly knew how to make her presence known. Yuri would mind trying to watch the clouds one day, either, though he had a feeling he'd fall asleep if it was warm enough. Sounded nice and relaxing, that was for sure.
"Does he at least watch the stars with you? Sounds like you guys are pretty close."
no subject
No. It wasn't like Yuri was ever going to wear the jacket again anyway. And if he did, that was what dry cleaning was for.
"Not really," she said, shrugging. "But I don't really watch clouds with him either, unless I'm really bored." With some effort, since she didn't exactly... have the same range of motion in this dress as she usually did (not to mention how unsteady on her feet she still was), she plopped down on her makeshift blanket, nearly falling over more than once and probably flashing more leg than strictly necessary. She regathered her boobs in her top when she was done, then patted a little slice of fabric next to her.
"We're teammates. In Konoha, that's like being family."
no subject
He saw that leg, but he at least had the decency to look away for a bit. Eye candy was nice and all, but only when the girl gave some kind of acknowledgment. Otherwise it just felt weird. Especially since it was Ino, someone he actually respected.
"A family, huh? Must be nice, anyway," he said as he leaned back to look up to the night sky. "But friends are nicer."
no subject
"They're worth it sometimes," she said, leaning back on her hands and stretching her legs out in front of her. It never really occurred to her before that other people might find their system in Konoha weird, that it might be hard for them to understand the significance of teammates. They were somewhere between friends and family, people you stayed connected to throughout your entire life, whether you liked it or not. It was hard to put into words, even if the feeling was clear.
So she left it at that.
"Don't you have any family?" she asked, her curiosity getting the better of her. They'd never talked about their respective pasts, though hers wasn't very exciting. And she kept getting the impression that his was.
no subject
"Nah, Flynn and I grew up in the orphanage." He only had the other kids, Repede, Hank, and some of the other adults that came by to check on them from time to time. "Guess you could just call the people in the Lower Quarter my family. I've known some of them my entire life."
It'd been a while since he thought about what it would be like to have a real father, mother, and siblings. What sort of experiences did Ino have, growing up in that sort of environment?
no subject
Somehow, an orphan seemed to fit Yuri; she wasn't sure where this impression came from, since he never acted particularly bitter or lonely or anything. Maybe because he'd never mentioned a family, never really talked about where he grew up. Maybe because he always felt like the lone wolf type to her, and that had to come from somewhere.
Still. She couldn't imagine what it must have been like for him.
"That's as good as any family. Friends, neighbors. People who care about you." She turned her head to look at him, and smiled.
no subject
Huh.
"Guess I never thought about it that way. Anyone can be family," he said, smiling back. "And what was your childhood like? Let me guess, you were perfectly innocent and angelic."
And knowing that she was a ninja, the academy- could she have lived such a carefree life, too?
no subject
Grinning, she fell back against the grass, wincing when the pins holding up her bun dug into her scalp. Tendrils of hair had been escaping the up-do all night, so the effect was mostly ruined by now; she carefully started fishing out bobby pins, stuffing a small pile of them in Yuri's coat pocket as she unraveled the knot at the nape of her neck.
"I don't know, it wasn't really anything crazy. I'm just the totally awesome daughter of ninja florists. And one of the oldest clans in Konoha," she finished proudly. Ah. That was better. She twisted her hair over her shoulder and sank into the ground with a sigh. Yuri's company, the two of them laying under the stars, the alcohol, it all made her feel warm, relaxed.
"I went to the Academy, learned the basics--just like everyone else. We all had to go through the same program."
no subject
With a snort, he turned his attention back toward the sky, connecting the brightest ones at random.
"We grew up pretty differently, and now look where we are." Ah, the words of a Tales hero. "Sitting here under one sky."
no subject
"That's very poetic of you, Yuri," she said, not bothering to reign in her laughter. It rang clear and sharp in the stark silence of their little field, because seriously. He didn't actually expect her to take him seriously, right? Or maybe it was just funnier because she was buzzed. That was a distinct possibility.
Though, it was a nice sentiment.
Still smiling, she tilted her head back to look up at the stars; the unfamiliar sky stretched above them like a canopy, hundreds of constellations and clusters and guides and suddenly, she realized that she didn't know the names of any of them. A wave of nostalgia and longing and disconnection washed over her, and she was glad for the line of Yuri's arm and the sway of his hair in the breeze in her peripheral vision.
"Do you think our worlds are out there?" she blurted, surprising even herself.
no subject
"You know," he started, scooting closer to her, "I think so. Yeah, that makes sense, don't you think?"
That was what he hoped, anyway, because that meant Estelle and Flynn and everyone else was just a couple of light years away. Not too bad, really. Better than a few sheets of dimensions.
"Thinking about it that way, it doesn't seem that bad."
no subject
"Yeah," she murmured, reaching up to gently tug on his sleeve, urging him to lie down with her. "Like... like Konoha is somewhere up there, and everybody's working together, rebuilding." She couldn't help but smile slightly as she thought of her village, as she pictured Chouji jonesing for barbecue and wondered if Kurenai-sensei was getting bigger and worried about who was putting flowers on Asuma-sensei's grave.
When she thought about it that way, they all seemed a little closer. She could allow herself that.
"That has to be it," she said, lifting a hand and pointing to a particularly bright star in the middle of a cluster of dimmer ones, though he probably couldn't tell.
no subject
"Hey, who knows, maybe they're looking up at us, too." It was a weird thought, but a comforting one all the same. Did he really believe it? He didn't know.
"Too bad they're all missing out on seeing you in that dress."
no subject
The guys back home--Sai... and Sasuke. Somehow, looking at it now, neither of them--any of them--seemed as amazing now as they'd been before she came to the City. Sai was cute, but Tybalt was tall, with broad shoulders and calloused hands that found hers when he thought nobody was looking. Sasuke was handsome, but Tybalt was quietly kind, and had small, secretive smiles that she suspected were only for her.
"And one other guy," she murmured, so quietly she barely heard it in her own ears, and scooted closer to Yuri, pressing into him and laying her head in the crook of his shoulder. His warmth, his solidness was comforting, for what it was worth.
no subject
"Wish we had one of those camera things I've seen around," he said idly, thinking to the cool new technology in the stores he'd passed by in his adventures around the City, delivering and helping little businesses with whatever random help they needed.
"You know, I'm sure Estelle would have liked to see you in this dress, too. I can just hear her now. She'd think you look so pretty." And mention that she wanted Ino's kind of body, too, but Yuri was going to keep that particular comment to himself.
no subject
Then again, she could, theoretically, do a lot worse.
She buried her nose into his chest as he rambled, drawing whatever consolation she could out of his deep, masculine scent before reaching back and grabbing the dainty purse she'd dropped on the grass earlier. It was easier to move on when she had someone to move on with.
"You know," she said, opening it up and pulling out her device, "our communicator thingies have cameras on them." Grinning impishly, she waved it in front of his face tauntingly, before extending her arm up and aiming the lens towards them as best she could. Her head was still pillowed against his shoulder as she smiled, finger poised over the button.
"And Estelle would also wish she had my boobs. Say cheese."
no subject
A memory. Even if they both left or if one left or if they both forgot, they'd have that photograph here in the City, preserved in its stillness. Perhaps they could even frame it somehow. That would be even better.
Oh yeah, and he didn't say cheese. What was that about?
"You're probably right about that. She worries about some pretty strange things." A laugh as he pulled out his own device and inspected it. "Any way you can get that picture off this thing?"
no subject
It was a perfect picture, even though she'd cut off the top of Yuri's head and most of her right side. But Ino didn't care, because they were from different worlds and would probably never see each other again after this place and none of it mattered because they were smiling, happy. In the moment she'd captured, they were happy.
"It's definitely not strange to worry about the size of your boobs," she explained, then paused thoughtfully. "At least, if you're a girl."
With a sigh, she relaxed against him again, idly going through her device, pulling up windows and scrolling through options. When he asked about getting the picture off, she laughed quietly--he was so technofail. Her tone was teasing.
"I can send it to you pretty easily, you know."
no subject
He rested his hand and the device on his chest and remembered the various times he'd been a girl or in another girl's body. It happened way more often than he'd liked, but- "So that kind of thing is important to girls, huh?"
In his humble opinion, he preferred when he and Estelle switched the most. The burden was way more tolerable than being in Judith, Ino, or even his own female body.
no subject
As she shook her head, unable to stop that amused smile, she sent the picture over to his device, a quick typing of his network handle and ta da! Ino had long ago figured out most of the technology so integral to this place, since it was basically upgraded, portable versions of everything they had in Konoha--cameras, video, voice recording. They were fairly advanced back home, especially compared to some other worlds--like Yuri's.
"You have no idea," she teased, because, well, it was true. He had no idea, and would likely never have any idea. "I mean, isn't that what guys go for? You totally can't say you don't like a little bounciness."
Though he probably couldn't see it, she shot him a wry look out of the corner of her eyes, before dropping her device somewhere in the grass and settling against his side again.
no subject
Yuri was a simple man with simple desires. He didn't care for books or complicated things like advanced technology. He usually just tossed those sort of things for Rita to figure out. Man, he really missed that hothead.
no subject
But the stars were so pretty. She forced her eyes open (when did she close them?) and watched the sky, uncharacteristically silent for that long moment. If that was where her world was (and she'd already forgotten which star she picked out, but that was unimportant) then where was Yuri's? Where was Tybalt's? Was there another world out there like this one, where they would all meet again someday?
That would be nice, if it were possible. She wouldn't want this to be the last time she ever saw Tybalt, or Yuri and Estelle, or Setsuna, or Saya and Hagi and all the other people she'd met here.
Even though it probably was.
"Do you miss them?" she asked quietly, her arm snaking around his waist almost unconsciously. Holding tight. "Estelle, that Judith lady... everyone?"
no subject
Because he knew that there wasn't a sure chance of him or Ino coming back to this place after they left. And even if they did, their memories could be taken, and they'd have to start from scratch. This time in the fields was precious, and he was glad that they at least had a photo to remember it by.
"You got people you miss back home?"
no subject
There was something nice, something warm and pure about being told that you were worth it, you were worth staying for, and she felt the sentiment echo deeply. There were people back home, waiting for her, people she missed, but here, here was once in a lifetime, and if there was anything Ino believed in, it was once in a lifetimes.
"Yeah," she replied finally, not bothering to open her eyes again; it would require too much energy. Her voice was quiet, wistful, sentimental, and she had this sudden, irrational wish that she could take Yuri home with her, as if he were a puppy. "My dad, my mom, Chouji... everybody. Naruto and Hinata and Tenten and Kiba and even Neji..."
Konoha. She missed Konoha.
no subject
"That's quite a list," he said with a faint smile. "I should've known you were popular."
There was still so much to know about Ino. He only hoped they had enough time to learn (though it may just be too cruel to become close with the understanding that their friendship in the City was always resting on shaky foundation, but he wasn't the type to be cautious).
no subject
With her cheek pressed against Yuri's chest, she could hear his strong, steady heartbeat, and she gave up on resisting the pull of sleep. It was late, she remembered, and Yuri was warm, warmer than her own bed, and comfortable, and she really, really didn't feel like moving.
"I'm going to sleep on you, okay?" she asked, even if it wasn't really a question. "So don't go anywhere." She curled her arm tighter around his waist, fingers fisting in the fabric of his shirt, as if reinforcing her point, as if saying what she couldn't in words.
Don't leave. Not yet.
no subject
"You really are too much," he whispered before slipping his hands underneath her knees and neck to gently lift her in his arms. He hoped he didn't wake her as he made his way back to his apartment. He'd let her sleep in Estelle's room for the night - where there were still books and pink hairbrushes and a pair of white gloves.
It'd been a good night.
