Dating for Mutants
When; Tuesday Night
Rating; PG-13?
Characters; Brennan Mulwray (
theshockvalue) and Rachel Grey (
starchilde_lost)
Summary; A first date and probably awkwardness.
Log;
She wished Kitty were still in the City, of all her friends, she knew Kitty would be able to give her tips on dating, after all, she'd actually done it. Rachel? Not so much. And yet something had still possessed her to call Brennan and ask him out. On a date. With her.
Somewhere, her friends were laughing at her.
Rachel couldn't even explain why she liked Brennan, except that he was a nice guy, loyal to his friends and she'd enjoyed talking to him when he came by the Lux for a drink. And... he was handsome, very handsome. She hadn't felt like this... since she was a kid, really. It was scary. But there it was.
So now here she was, a nice black skirt, green top and a coat, waiting out by the fountain for a guy she wasn't even sure liked her.
Well, he had to like her a little, he'd said "yes", right?
Right.
Nervously running her fingers through her hair, she looked around, waiting for him to meet her.

He was clad in a pair of black slacks and a deep purple button down untucked under a black blazer. He'd cleaned up his facial hair a bit, and styled his hair in a way that looked like he'd just rolled out of bed. He let his eyes flow over her again as he got within normal speaking range. "Rachel," he said with a smile. "You look amazing."

With a really hot guy - wow, did he clean up well. She let out a low whistle. "Look who's talking there, mister. Not too shabby, not too shabby at all."

"So, where's this awesome Greek place?"

As they began walking, she looked over at Brennan. "Although I do have to say, you wore Gambit's uniform pretty well, too, the other day."

"So," a mischievous glint entered her eye, "you had the costume, did you go play superhero?"

Rachel motioned to a door a little ways down the block, settling her skirt.
"Must be a useful trick, though."

Rachel smiled back at him as she led the way to the door. She'd only ever been here for lunch, and she was pleased to see that the atmosphere was slightly different for dinner. Through the window she could see some candles set on the tables and different tablecloths.

Once she was gone, Brennan turned his attention back to Rachel. "So, you do crash?"

A wistful expression crosses Rachel's face at the memories. "That's why it was good to be on teams. People watch your back."

She didn't want to pry, but she was curious. She'd been around natural leaders her entire life, her father, her uncle, the Professor, Reed Richards, the list went on. She could see some of those qualities in Brennan, but wondered if he just couldn't see them in himself, or if there was something else.
