Open Log (ongoing, backdated forever)
When; Thanksgiving Day (November 26th), all day, any time
Rating; G? PG at most?
Characters; Anyone! Everyone! You!
Summary; No one should be alone for the holidays.
Log;
The Center is warmly lit and the door is propped open. The smells of food waft out into the street, inviting anyone who happens to pass by in for something to eat and, if they like, a little company. It's Thanksgiving, the holiday specifically created for the sake of overindulging in food and spending time with friends and family; anyone without friends, family, or food is more than welcome to stop in.
Penny has thrown herself into the holiday wholeheartedly, largely to distract herself from the City's general unpleasantness and the absence of certain people. A number of casseroles are prepared and lining the oven's racks, staying warm until someone cares to try them; fruit salads, rolls, and various potatoes--mashed, baked, sweet--are ready to be eaten and taking up counter space. The Center's mismatched tables are neatly set with--appropriately--mismatched dishes and silverware.
The only things that are missing are turkey and people. The former won't be offered out of respect for turkeys everywhere, but Penny hopes that the latter will show up in time.
[ooc: Sorry this is late, but I thought it'd be nice to throw this up just in case anyone wants to play this out. So come on in (doesn't matter if your characters know Penny or not!), chat people up, indicate in the subject line if a thread is open or to a specific character, and... have fun? :3]

Open! Cos he's just that kind of guy!
Walking to the door of the Center, he holds his pumpkin pie close to his chest, the top wrapped in foil to protect it, not necessarily warm it. It can go into the oven shortly before it's time to eat it, if necessary.
The table is set with utensils and food but not, the Master automatically notices, turkey. Ah well. Turkey is generally spectacularly boring anyway. He will miss the stuffing, though.
He walks forward to set the pie on the table and then steps back away. It seems odd to sit down before more people arrive.
Open!
She lets him go and instantly goes into hostess mode. "Sit anywhere you want and help yourself... or can I get you something? Do you want anything?"
Open!
Open!
Open!; *sporfle* That first sentence is possibly the funniest thing I've ever read.
Open!; I can't imagine why! After all, Harry's such a sweetheart.

It already smells delicious. If only she hadn't completely forgotten about the holiday, this would be what the mansion smelled like. Ah, well, maybe this would be better anyway. Fred's sure watched her mom cook a lot, but she hadn't done much of it herself.
She smiles and heads straight for the casseroles, keeping an eye out for Penny.
Open!
"Fred! It's so great to see you!" The only that saves Fred from a hug is the pumpkin pie--courtesy of Harry Saxon--in Penny's hands. "How're you doing after all of that stuff with the boxes?"
Open!
"Hi, Penny!" she says with a grin. "We're doing pretty good, actually. I'm so glad that's over, it was a mess. Both Wesley and I got through it without being cursed, though, so that was lucky. How are you? This place looks fantastic and I have no idea how you made so much food. I really hope you don't mind me mooching, I just- well, I sort of forgot what day it was. It snuck up on me."
Open!
Penny laughs. "Thank you! The food's been in the works for a few days, and you're not mooching. There's no mooching when you're invited. I hear you, though; it's hard to keep track of things when the whole City's going crazy. Before you know it, it's going to be Christmas."
Open!
Open!
Open... because she's friendly, just quiet. =3
Skirting around a fast moving, nameless young man with a heaping plate of food, Robin finds a quiet corner and takes in the scene.
She smiles. "This definitely seems like a nice holiday."
Open
Penny's quick to notice that Robin hasn't taken any food yet. "Do you want anything to eat? It's all self-serve, or I can get something for you if you like."
Re: Open
She snaps back to the moment and blinks. "What? Oh, no, I don't mind getting my own. But... I'm not sure what's up there. Can you help me, please?"
Open
She takes a plate for Robin and starts towards the counter where most of the food is. "Sure! There's--well, there's a little of everything. What do you like? Vegetables, fruit...?"

She still wasn't sure she understood the feast being celebrated, but she'd decided to come anyway, Tiger held in her arms because she knew there'd be food around and probably a lot of people. It was a good call too, because as soon as she stepped inside the puppy started barking and wriggling about enthusiastically. Doll herself was rather in awe at all the food laid out. There was so much of it!
Re: Open
Bright lights (and a rumbling belly) drew her to the Welcome Center. She poked her head inside, strangely shy, and debated coming in.

Open! (for sexings- I mean wut)
The issue was just precisely how to act there. Happy to be there, of course, but still with that hint of longing. He knew exactly what to do- after all, when didn't he? "Penny! Hello, how are you doing?"
Open! (keep the hammer contained!)
And yet their relationship had felt wrong. Others had implied that Hammer, perhaps, didn't have Penny's best interests at heart. Billy had firmly believed that, beneath Captain Hammer's external layers of cheesiness, there was little more but... extra cheese. There had been a few moments where Penny suspected she saw a real, caring human in that cheesy mess, but... but what? He was the perfect man and it just wasn't working out.
Maybe she needed someone less perfect.
Given their recent split, Penny was somewhat less than thrilled to see Hammer walk in. She did her best to smile, though, and greeted him with the hug that everyone else had been greeted with. They could still be friends, right? No hard feelings? She replied with an enthusiasm that was, admittedly, slightly forced. "Hammer! It's so great to see you! I'm fine, thank you... and you? How's it going?"
Open! (/takes you up on 'backdated forever')
"I'm- well, doing the best I can, I suppose." A sad pause, before brightening again, "But this is definitely something that will help lift everyone's spirits."
