log, ongoing
When; Christmas Morning
Rating; PGish
Characters; Brennan (
theshockvalue ) and Shalimar (
feralside )
Summary; Brennan and Shalimar share their first real Christmas
Log; Brennan wondered if Christmas just felt like this. He was groggy, he was tired. It was gross. Of course, he was the one who decided to give up coffee for two weeks for that book. It had been his decision and now it was time to pay the price. He was happy he didn't have a headache...of course, that would probably set in before the week was out. He yawned and sat down on the sofa, picking up his worn copy of Leaves of Grass and waited for Shalimar to get home. He'd already seen the truth of things: the coffee was gone. Just gone.
Yeah, Christmas wasn't fun. The day, not the holiday. He rubbed at his tired eyes. That didn't even make any sense, Brennan.

"Merry Christmas," she said, giving him a small smile. "You look tired. Did you not sleep well?"
no subject
"No, I slept okay. Have a good time with Kirk?"
no subject
"Yeah I did. Not at first though, he pretended to propose to me. If I'd had my strength I think I would have killed him."
no subject
"So, what did he get you?"
no subject
"And he got me a necklace..."
no subject
"So, lets see this necklace." Did Brennan want it submitted for his approval? Well, maybe.

She pulled out the gift from her pocket and showed him. "That. To keep away nightmares or something."
no subject
"So, you think it really works? Like, is it magic or something?"

"You wanna go first?"
no subject
"No. You go first. Then I go. Then you can run out to look at the car."

His voice was thick with emotion. "Thanks, Shal. A lot." Then he reached over and handed her the smallest of her packages. "This one first."
no subject
"You're welcome. I hope you like it all." She took the package and unwrapped it, when she saw the ipod touch she almost let out a little squeal, but she kept from letting it out. She'd needed something like this for when she went jogging and it had apps too and blue tooth. "Awesome! This is perfect babe."

He handed her another, slightly larger package, this one containing a sweet set of sports-ready bluetooth headphones.

Opening the next package she smirked, he'd thought this through. "No wires. Perfect. This is great, now I won't be interrupted when I jog around the City."

He reached and grabbed the largest package and moved to sit beside her as he handed it over, taking her hand.

She took the package and looked at him for a minute, tilting her head and scrunching up her eyebrows. It seemed like something was off with him but she couldn't quite place it. She looked down at the package and began to unwrap it. When she'd finished she realized why something had seemed off.
"Oh...Brennan...." She looked at him and tried to fight back the urge to cry. It was the photo album, she couldn't actually believe it was here. "You...oh. I thought...it was gone forever. Oh Brennan...." She ran her hand over it and started to cry.
