Summary; Jun takes Konata out to lunch. Both assume this will not end well.
Log;
Why did he ask Konata to lunch? Was he trying to show her he actually had some backbone? Maybe he was just insane. But whatever the reason, here he was... 30 minutes early. He paced outside the café, trying to calm his nerves. He got absolutely no advice about video games so he ended up having to research everything himself. Would that be enough to keep things going smooth though? ... And was he dressed right? This was so much easier with the girls back home.
Finally, when those 30 minutes had passed, Jun took a deep breath and stood around, acting casual.
Please let this go alright...

She was pretty sure of that, but she wasn't sure why. It was just coffee and some food, right? Wouldn't be the first time.
Or so Konata told herself, but she knew that Jun wouldn't think of it that way. He was "asking her out," after all.
She wasn't sure how she felt about it, to be honest. Thinking Jun was cute-- actually, more like, thinking he looked delicious-- and wanting to date him were two different things. Honestly, she didn't know what a dating relationship would look like. She'd never done it before, and as much as she hated to admit it, visual novels were a poor substitute for experience.
As apprehensive as Konata was about treating the lunch as a "date", she didn't want to hurt Jun by blowing it off... So she tried to take a middle road. She dressed cute, in a shirt and blouse, but didn't overdo it. She washed and brushed her hair but didn't do anything with it in particular. She showed up on time. And the entire time she was annoyed that she was going to even that small amount of trouble. Why was she bothering? It was going to be a disaster no matter what she did.
So she wasn't in the best of moods when she walked into the cafe and looked around for a place to sit and wait for Jun, who would certainly be l--
Oh. There he was.

Don't lose your cool now. You've made it this far...!
Not that it was really that far. He still had the entire lunch to go.
"..Hey!"

Konata took a seat opposite Jun at the table with a neutral expression.

... God. What to talk about now? "That's a cute dress."

This was going to go poorly.

God why did he ever suggest this.

"... Why did you invite me here, anyway?"

wait, no, that wasn't it.
Well, it wouldn't kill her to help Jun out. She was still trying to be nicer to him.

"You have to be proactive too, though."

He gave his order as well, then glanced around for a moment before deciding to bring up video games. "So... the visitors gave you a lot of games?"
