Why did he ask Konata to lunch? Was he trying to show her he actually had some backbone? Maybe he was just insane. But whatever the reason, here he was... 30 minutes early. He paced outside the café, trying to calm his nerves. He got absolutely no advice about video games so he ended up having to research everything himself. Would that be enough to keep things going smooth though? ... And was he dressed right? This was so much easier with the girls back home.

Finally, when those 30 minutes had passed, Jun took a deep breath and stood around, acting casual.

Please let this go alright...

"Hey." Dear Mokona that outfit was loud. Well, she guessed it was par for the course for Jun, so she forgave him. At least he wasn't wearing, like, a white suit with gold trim or something.

Konata took a seat opposite Jun at the table with a neutral expression.

Yes. Amazingly, he had left his guitar at home. He had a tendency to hall that thing everywhere with him but decided to spare Konata from it today.

... God. What to talk about now? "That's a cute dress."

"Ah-- thanks." This would be the part where she compliments him on his outfit, right? But-- no. It wasn't that bad, but-- no.

This was going to go poorly.

"You're welcome. ... So.. um.. How're you...?"

"... Why did you invite me here, anyway?"

Jun's shoulders slouched a bit, ".. Something to do? And to make up for me being stupid."

"Oh... That's it? Not a date or anything, just lunch?"

He had to think about it for a moment and the more his mind registered this as just hanging out and eating, the more relaxed he felt. ".. Yeah!"

Huh. Well, if he wasn't thinking of it as a date, then she sure wasn't going to. "Okay," she said, with a bit of a thoughtful expression. Konata took a look at the menu. "What's good here?"

"The milkshakes. The subs are pretty good too. I was thinking of trying some hot cocoa since it's still sorta cold outside."

"Sounds good." After a moment more of looking at the menu, she glanced back up at Jun.

"So, what have you been up to?"

"Being lazy." He nodded. "... Not really much else."

That got a pout. "Hey, everyone's allowed to be lazy, right?"

"So what, then, have you just been sleeping? What do you normally do all day?"

"Watch TV, work on music, check the network..."

"I did but.. both owners left..." He sighed. "I liked playing there too.."

Well, it wouldn't kill her to help Jun out. She was still trying to be nicer to him.

"I might as well. I miss the paychecks," He grinned. "... I'd really appreciate it though if you did help."

"You have to be proactive too, though."

Konata made a bit of a skeptical face, but let it go for now. Instead, she flagged down the waitress and gave her order.

For once, he was serious. A job meant more experience and a way to put his music out there. .. if his new job would center around that.

He gave his order as well, then glanced around for a moment before deciding to bring up video games. "So... the visitors gave you a lot of games?"

"Umm, yeah, kinda. I mean, I meant it as a joke, and I think they got that, because the games they left were total crap."

"Really? That sucks. Maybe ask for a different system next time?"

"Nah, it's okay, I appreciated the thought. It's not like I can't get games I want on my own, anyway."

"I'm not sure... It might be a violation of otaku ethics to sell 'Supermodel Makeover by Lauren Luke' to some unsuspecting chump."

Now he was totally lost. "... Eh?"

"I mean, if they're bad, I can get rid of them, but if they're criminally bad, I have to destroy them. I can't try to offload them on someone who doesn't know any better."
