Summary; Thomas decided it was high time he and Harry work on that boat.
Log; Thomas had overslept. It wasn't something he'd intended to do. It had just happened.  He'd been spending a lot of time with Justine and quite frankly, the clock hadn't mattered.  To most people, showing up 30 minutes late would be a huge mistake, especially when they were on such tenuous wires with most of the people around them. Thomas felt it was fashionable.  He'd mentally kicked himself for never getting the name of the seller in the Underground where Rachel had once acquired Mac's ale, and was a little disappointed that the two of them would have to suffice on regular brown beer for the day, but it was better than nothing.  It was certainly better than showing up fashionably late and empty-handed.  He approached the pier where the old boat of Harry's was stored, hoping his little brother hadn't been waiting for him for the last thirty minutes.

Harry didn't wait for Thomas to start, mostly because he wanted to get started and to keep his mind off of things. Normally he was more than happy to enjoy the break from his world when he came to the City. When he might possibly be dead back home and didn't know who specifically had done it, all he could think of was trying to figure out who had done it.

So it was nice to get his mind off of things, focusing on what to do with Jolly's boat. Even after all this time, he still thought of it as Jolly's boat.

The first thing Harry had started on was building a type of dry dock so they could pull the boat up and out of the water and rest it up on some skids to keep it out of the water. Once Thomas came along, they could actually use the pulley system he set up to pull the boat up out of the water.

"Thomas, it's not even 11 o'clock in the morning," Harry grunted as he tested the weight of one of the pulleys, making sure that it would hold the weight of the boat.

"You have never actually been on a farm, have you?" Harry asked, taking the beer from his brother and setting it down. He did not need a hangover before the day was over.

"No, a petting zoo does not count," Harry said, shaking his head. He doubted that Thomas even had done that.

"Yeah, I'm sure you're really broken up about that," Harry said, rolling his eyes. He would pay good money to see Thomas have to work on a farm for a day. Maybe that could be a curse.

"Now why don't we tie up the boat and then haul it up?"

Harry reached out and bumped his brother's fist with his own before nodding toward the boat.

"I think we're all ready to get her up out of the water. The skids are up enough so that even at high tide the boat won't float away," Harry explained.

"Well, on the farm we learned about these things called knots," he said, gesturing to the knots he had already tied.

We have use them to fasten the rope to the boat itself."

“No, but it sure is fun,” Harry said, beaming an annoying smile at his brother as he waded into the deeper water to attach the ropes.

"Don't forget about my ability to make light of deadly situations in a way that enrages whatever is trying to kill me at the moment," Harry said, tying down one of the ropes to the boat.

"I don't know, I think it just makes them enjoy hurting me more," Harry said with a shrug. "They seem to want to kill me pretty bad to begin with."

Harry grunted and pulled the final rope in his side tight. They should be enough to let them haul the boat up onto the skids before they secured it there.

"Thankfully we're also tricky to kill," he pointed out.

Harry gave the boat a once over to make sure that all the ropes were secure and they weren't on a part of the boat that would snap off once they pulled.

"Okay, I think we're ready to pull," he said after a moment.

"Not necessarily," Harry said, shaking his head. "If it gets crooked, you just have to stop pulling until I pull it straight."
