Log;
Rido Kuran smiled, pleased that his newest distraction had accepted his advances so readily. Without Yuuki here, or even the exhilarating possibility of Juri being resurrected in this strange City, all he could do was to fill each and every frustrating moment with distractions. Such as this one...
Coming across the girl had been a small stroke of luck, and the fact that she reminded him of Juri was even luckier. Her hair was the same, and the sweet innocence of her personality was enough to make him want to eat her up right there. But if he took such action, it would ruin his attempts to blur the lines of time that held him prisoner here.
With such incentive, he could ignore the differences... the different eyes that stared out from that sweet face, or the fullness of her lips that didn't quite match his beloveds. And by losing himself in the similarities, he could ignore the wrongness of her scent, and the fact that she was very much an inferior human, lacking the grace of even the lowest of his kind.
Striding confidently up to her door, he raised his fist and rapped lightly upon it's surface. He'd have to be gentler with this one if he wished for her to last any length of time, at least until he decided what he really wanted to do with her. The vampire had a few ideas already, having a penchant for long term plans, and tonight would determine which of these fates would be hers...

With a hand moving to smooth down the slim dress she'd chosen for the night, she moved to answer it, toeing on simple shoes before she opened the door with a slight smile, leaving Beauty resting on the back of the couch.

In truth the dress did nothing for her, being rather plain compared to the gowns of his world, but her attire was an easy enough thing to remedy. "Menolly~"
Reaching down, he took her hand in his and brought it up to place a kiss upon it. The girl's skin was warm against the brush of his lips, pulsing loudly with the beat of her heart to his vampiric hearing.
It'd been awhile since he'd felt like putting on a show, but the Pureblood had a talent for presenting himself how he wished. And if this little game called for him to show a certain charm in order for get what he wanted, so be it. "You look as lovely as the night I first laid eyes on you..."
no subject
"Your words are too kind, Rido. You look... quite nice as well."
Behind her, the golden dragon raised her head to peer at the newcomer, her eyes whirling an anxious yellow.

But Menolly was in line to be his replacement Juri, and so he could afford to let her insult slide. Letting her hand drop, he reached up to toy with a lock of her hair. It was so very much like his sister's, and conjured memories of the times he'd been able to feel her up close and personal. "I'm happy that you approve... I'd hoped to make a good impression on you."
Smiling, the vampire put aside thoughts of the past and let her hair slide out from between his fingers. There'd be time to lose himself in her later, once she had grown more accustomed to his presence as well as his touch. "Shall we go..."

The sound snapped her out of her daze, making her cheeks color a little more as she nodded once again. "Yes... I think that's a good idea."

His hand slid to rest lightly on her lower back as fell into step beside her. The walk would be a short one, the restaurant that he'd chosen being close enough to home to leave the girl feeling fairly safe and secure despite his request for a private booth in the back. "Why don't you tell me more about yourself while we walk..."

She didn't start when his hand settled low on her back, but instead, she merely glanced a little ahead of them, trying to decide exactly what to tell him.
"Well. I'm the only person here from Pern. I was raised as one of the older daughters at Half-Circle Hold there. One of the more successful sea Holds on Pern, actually. Being a woman, I wasn't allowed to do much, other than take care of littles and helping with whatever catch was brought it. That meant no music, other than teaching songs for the youngest children. When... I was caught writing, I was punished severely and I ran after I was healed."
no subject
"And then? What did you do after you ran...?" Ran, just as Juri had run from his attentions, right into their brother's protective arms...

"I learned to survive living in caves near the sea. That's where I found my friends. I was there when they hatched, just in time for them to bond to me. After that, I was found by a dragonrider and went to live with them for a short while before Master Robinton came looking for me, wanting to get me to the Hall for training."

She chanced a glance at her companion and was hard pressed to glance away. Still, discipline won out as she smiled faintly and let her gaze drop.
"And you?"
no subject
"Me~?" One of his favorite subjects.
He kept his eyes turned forward, arm still lightly twined around her waist as they made their way in the moonlight towards the restaurant.
"I'm the eldest child and heir of the Kuran throne. I've led a privileged life... but I suppose that's to be expected for someone born to my station." He shrugged his shoulders slightly, such comments were merely fact, nothing of great importance.
"At the moment I was brought here, my society had begun to fall upon itself. I suppose you could call it 'Civil War' of sorts." He resisted the urge to smile, having been the direct cause of manipulating the unrest that pit his people against each other. Everyone got to play in the little game between himself and Kaname. The Council, the Hunters Association, and the small group of Nobles holed up at the Academy. It had been coming along so beautifully, the chaos and death that surrounded him. And he had been so very close to getting his prize once and for all.
That is, until he was ripped from his world and brought here. "A King should never be taken away from such conflict. Being brought here against my will was agonizing... I don't know what's become of my people."
no subject
"While we don't have kings where I come from, I know it can't be easy to be away from the people you lead in such trying times."

His brow creased, any trace of humor long since lost at the memories flooding his mind. Hadn't his dear sister died on that night ten years previous to this event? Yes... it was Yuuki, her daughter that had brought it all back to him. Yuuki who he mercifully decided to spare and take as his wife. Yuuki who he'd held in his arms on the night he'd been torn away and brought into this world.
Life was a cruel thing.
His arm tightened ever so slightly around the girl's waist, an involuntary movement to comfort himself from being deprived of the one thing he wanted most in the world.

"... I'm so sorry you're stuck here."
no subject
"Such a sweet thing to say..." He slowed their steps to a standstill, having finally made it to the cozy restaurant that he'd made his reservation at. "But it's alright. This place has given me the chance at other opportunities... such as being in such lovely company tonight."
no subject
"Again, you're too kind, but thank you."
