Summary; The Pureblood King sees a perfect opportunity to revisit his past by going on a date with a girl who happens to bear a similar resemblance to his lost unrequited love/obsession/sister (yeah, you read that right).

Log;

Rido Kuran smiled, pleased that his newest distraction had accepted his advances so readily. Without Yuuki here, or even the exhilarating possibility of Juri being resurrected in this strange City, all he could do was to fill each and every frustrating moment with distractions. Such as this one...

Coming across the girl had been a small stroke of luck, and the fact that she reminded him of Juri was even luckier. Her hair was the same, and the sweet innocence of her personality was enough to make him want to eat her up right there. But if he took such action, it would ruin his attempts to blur the lines of time that held him prisoner here.

With such incentive, he could ignore the differences... the different eyes that stared out from that sweet face, or the fullness of her lips that didn't quite match his beloveds. And by losing himself in the similarities, he could ignore the wrongness of her scent, and the fact that she was very much an inferior human, lacking the grace of even the lowest of his kind.

Striding confidently up to her door, he raised his fist and rapped lightly upon it's surface. He'd have to be gentler with this one if he wished for her to last any length of time, at least until he decided what he really wanted to do with her. The vampire had a few ideas already, having a penchant for long term plans, and tonight would determine which of these fates would be hers...

Menolly was ready as he'd asked, as she was always a prompt person, but it was just barely. Her nerves were on edge but that was to be expected, right? Perhaps a tiny bit of that nervousness came from her concern over Myrnin's reaction when she told him what she had plans doing tonight, but that was pushed away into deeper parts of her head when she heard the knock at her door.

With a hand moving to smooth down the slim dress she'd chosen for the night, she moved to answer it, toeing on simple shoes before she opened the door with a slight smile, leaving Beauty resting on the back of the couch.

The combination of both the kiss to her hand and the compliment made Menolly's fair skin color. Her smile inched up a little more as she murmured her gratitude for both, bowing her head slightly. Now she was able to truly get a good look at him, she found it was difficult to look away. Still, manners won out over everything else.

"Your words are too kind, Rido. You look... quite nice as well."

Behind her, the golden dragon raised her head to peer at the newcomer, her eyes whirling an anxious yellow.

She couldn't help but nod slowly, sliding her hand along her side once again even as she cleared her throat softly. The little dragon hissed softly, but kept her place on the couch, having already been told quite firmly by her mistress that she needed to be on her best behavior.

The sound snapped her out of her daze, making her cheeks color a little more as she nodded once again. "Yes... I think that's a good idea."

It was a case of both, actually; Menolly still being young and innocent enough to be easily flattered by such things. After all, most of the attention she'd been given in her life wasn't exactly positive, thanks to her family, and the short time she'd truly been given praise hadn't been long enough yet to counter the years of home life she'd endured.

She didn't start when his hand settled low on her back, but instead, she merely glanced a little ahead of them, trying to decide exactly what to tell him.

"Well. I'm the only person here from Pern. I was raised as one of the older daughters at Half-Circle Hold there. One of the more successful sea Holds on Pern, actually. Being a woman, I wasn't allowed to do much, other than take care of littles and helping with whatever catch was brought it. That meant no music, other than teaching songs for the youngest children. When... I was caught writing, I was punished severely and I ran after I was healed."

She absently rubbed at her palm, smiling faintly at the memories.

"I learned to survive living in caves near the sea. That's where I found my friends. I was there when they hatched, just in time for them to bond to me. After that, I was found by a dragonrider and went to live with them for a short while before Master Robinton came looking for me, wanting to get me to the Hall for training."

"To be a Harper. My Master is the Masterharper, so I'm expected to excel in my training. I was recently promoted to Journeyman status before I was dropped into the fountain here. In a way, I suppose I think of my time here as part of my travels."

She chanced a glance at her companion and was hard pressed to glance away. Still, discipline won out as she smiled faintly and let her gaze drop.

"And you?"

She listened quietly, acutely aware of the feel of his arm about her waist. Perhaps it was her age, and newly found less than innocent status, but she was hard pressed to keep from tensing a tiny bit thanks to nerves. Still, her nerves were easy enough to pass over as she listened to him, concern washing over her expression.

"While we don't have kings where I come from, I know it can't be easy to be away from the people you lead in such trying times."

Menolly felt the minute change in his grasp and let herself lean closer, as if in silent support. As a Harper, she was trained to read body language and the shift in his made her feel sympathy for him.

"... I'm so sorry you're stuck here."

She smiled back at him, following his lead when he stopped. A quick look around told her he had quite good taste in restaurants, but anything she was planning to say was lost when he complimented her yet again. Smiling, she glanced down to do what she could to hide the blush that seemed to bloom on her cheeks every time he seemed to compliment her.

"Again, you're too kind, but thank you."
