Rating; PG-13?
Characters; Several
Summary; Sam hosts a beach party for anyone who wants to come
Log;

Sam had tried to do everything he could to make the beach trip as fun as possible, especially considering all that had happened recently. Not everyone had calmed down after yesterday, but it was enough that he didn't cancel the trip.

He had volleyball set up, a dozen umbrellas for the more fair skinned to take refuge under, and a really ugly couch to put in a bonfire later.

Food and drink also abounded, including enough electrolyte replenishing drinks to help anyone who drank all the alcohol he brought stave off too massive of a hangover. All in all, it was a recipe for a good time. Or at least Sam hoped.

After the Bloody Mary has had it's effect and Lucy has snagged a beer she wanders on over to the redhead under the umbrella. She looks familiar but Lucy doesn't know her so she slips under the umbrella with a smile and a wave.

"So I figure pale girls unite. Or something like that. We could start a club."

LUCY! I've been looking for an excuse to talk to her. <3

Penny is startled out of her wave-watching reverie by the abrupt appearance of someone she doesn't remember meeting. No matter! She returns the girl's smile and replies, "We might need a bigger umbrella for the clubhouse and standard-issue sunglasses so we don't blind each other with our combined paleness."

"We should get a beach house with UV coating on the windows and those super dark, too big for your face, I'm a movie star don't look at me sunglasses," Lucy agrees. She smiles and holds out her hand. "I'm Lucy."

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-05-29 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Ooh, stylish. I want this club to happen." She shakes Lucy's hand enthusiastically, replying, "It's great to meet you, Lucy--cute bikini. I'm Penny."

[identity profile] mghtbconcussed.livejournal.com 2010-05-29 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Lucy beams a smile at Penny, the tip of her tongue coming between her teeth. "I totally want it to happen now too. We can have tee shirts. We'll have to come up with a great name though. It's nice to meet you too and thank you! Yours is cute too."

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-05-29 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Something descriptive, but easy. Like... 'People with Abnormally Light Epidermises.' P-A-L-E. Or is it epidermi? Epidermum?" It doesn't seem to matter much to Lucy, who is either very cheerful or very drunk (or, perhaps, a lovely combination of the two). Either way, the blonde seems to be having an amazing time.

"I think I've heard about you, Lucy. Do you have a lot of friends in the City?"

[identity profile] mghtbconcussed.livejournal.com 2010-05-29 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Epidermises sounds better and P.A.L.E would totally work. It'll be like L.A.M.B or something," Lucy rambles away. It's a bit of both plus the cheerfulness is actually pretty forced and over the top right now. She refuses to mope about over the Master being gone.

"You have?" Well that's just delightful as far as Lucy is concerned. She likes being 'known' regardless of what it's for. "Uhm sort of?" She mentally begins to try and tally them up. Really it's only four or five people. She shrugs giving up on the mental tally. "Really just Sam, Harry, Cassie and Keats."

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't hear anything bad!" Penny assures Lucy quickly. "Just a mention here and there, and--I mean, if you know Keats and Harry, then that explains it. I talk to them a lot."

[identity profile] mghtbconcussed.livejournal.com 2010-05-30 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Penny gets a big smile from Lucy. She likes people that like Harry and she likes people who know Keats. "Yeah? Keats is sort of my drinking buddy. Harry is--" A shoulder shrug because there is no way she is giving Harry the satisfaction of calling him her boyfriend when he's not here to appreciate it. Even if that train of thought is illogical.

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-06-02 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
"They're both sweet. I mean, Harry has that crazy thing going on sometimes, but that's not exactly his fault." Penny, as it is, hasn't noticed Harry's absence. She's been too busy fretting over other disappearances. Curiously, she adds, "Harry's what?"

[identity profile] mghtbconcussed.livejournal.com 2010-06-02 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
"And let's be honest, we all have our crazy days. Once a month I'm absolutely unbearable so I can hold it against him as long as he doesn't bite me or my friends."

Yes that is Lucy logic for you right there.

Chicken Lucy is chicken. She waffles between answers that will likely outright embarrass Penny like fuck buddy and answers that are more true but less than comfortable for her to admit. She likes Penny so she opts for somewhere in the middle.

"New flat mate. I sort of started staying with him after Mother's Day. And now he's gone but he seemed to think he was coming back so I guess he's just my flat mate on vacation."

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-06-02 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Lucy logic is logical enough for Penny (for the moment, at least; should Harry start gnawing on people in front of her, she'll undoubtedly have a problem with it).

"He's gone again?" And he didn't even send Penny a letter or ask her to watch the cat! Not that Masha needs watching if Lucy lives there. Still, a letter would've been nice. "When'd he leave?"

[identity profile] mghtbconcussed.livejournal.com 2010-06-02 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
That does present a problem with the logic. Hopefully it won't be an issue again.

Lucy nods at Penny's question. She also downs some of her drink while she's thinking about it. "Yesterday. He said to wait for him though. So that sounds like he'll be back to me."

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-06-02 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
"I hope so. He's a nice guy, even with the... you know." Eating people. But he was out of his mind, so it's nothing that should be held against him.

New subject. Penny forces a smile. "How long've you been in the City, Lucy?"

[identity profile] mghtbconcussed.livejournal.com 2010-06-02 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Well even then...he's nice for a crazy person. I had my friends wear signs during Zombie Sheep day that said Lucy's friend so that he wouldn't eat them."

Totally nice crazy person.

"Uhm..." She takes a moment to think back. "Since February. So not forever but y'know a while. You?"

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-06-02 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
It takes Penny a moment to decide whether or not that's a good thing. She settles for a tentative 'yes.' "That was really thoughtful of him, I think."

Harry confuses Penny.

"You've been here since February and I never got to meet you?" Penny's loss, definitely. She likes Lucy. She's not complicated like almost everyone else she knows. "About a year and a month. Ish. It's hard to keep track of time."

[identity profile] mghtbconcussed.livejournal.com 2010-06-02 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know right?" Harry doesn't really confuse Lucy which probably says more about her than she'd care to admit.

She shrugs at Penny's exclamation. "I guess we just haven't run into each other but we have now and that's good. We've already got the PALE club going." Lucy wrinkles her nose and takes another swig of her drink. Sam is so carrying her back to her place. "That's a long time. Have you gotten to go home any? Did it make things better or worse here?"

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-06-04 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Definitely good, and pale people need to stick together." Preferably under sun umbrellas.

Penny pauses for a moment before answering. "I did go home, yeah, but it was only for a couple minutes." She smiles uncomfortably and adds, "Long enough to get nailed with exploding death ray shrapnel, anyway. So coming back to the City was a good thing, I think... I mean, I wasn't sure I'd be anywhere, so being here beats being all the way dead." Ooh, getting a little too personal. Saying, 'hi, I'm kind of a zombie' is something Penny generally reserves for third or fourth conversations. "It's good here. It's better than it was before."

[identity profile] mghtbconcussed.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Well it earns Penny an impromptu hug from Lucy for better or worse. She kisses the side of Penny's head then pulls back before the hug can get too uncomfortable. As if it weren't already.

"I think it's good here for lots of people. Not just you."

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-06-07 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Penny chalks the affection up to too much alcohol (really, affectionate drunks are her favorite) and returns the hug. Not the quick peck, though; that was, perhaps, a little bit awkward. "Do you like it here, Lucy?"

[identity profile] mghtbconcussed.livejournal.com 2010-06-07 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Lucy shrugs at that and takes a sip of her drink. "It's interesting. I mean nothing is ever boring here so..." And another shrug. "I miss my parents and football and school. I miss my best friend and sometimes I get so homesick I think I'm going to throw up. There are worse places to be stuck though."

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-06-08 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
"No, boring's definitely not a word I'd use." Chaotic, maybe; trying, occasionally, but never boring. "Is there anything that'd make you feel less homesick? ...Other than being home, I mean."

[identity profile] mghtbconcussed.livejournal.com 2010-06-08 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Lucy thinks about it a moment then shrugs a little. "I cook a lot of the same sort of foods from home. The more friends I have here the more it seems like home. The more time I spend here the more it feels like home. I think it's just a whole...acclimation thing which is sort of sad because what if one of these days home doesn't feel like home anymore? It's like the fear of going home to your old house to find out that it's not your old house anymore. It's just the place you grew up. Or something like that. I mean when I first went to college and got a dorm room and everything I was sort of afraid that my room at home wouldn't feel like my room anymore." She pauses a second then grins.

"If any of that makes any sense."

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-06-08 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
"It makes sense," she says with a comprehending nod. "I mean, it's nice to feel like you have a home wherever you go, but you never want home to lose its... home-y-ness." Penny attempts a reassuring smile, but it lacks conviction. "For what it's worth, I've heard that most people forget all about the City when they go home. If that's true, home won't feel any less like home than it did when you left."

[identity profile] mghtbconcussed.livejournal.com 2010-06-08 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"True," Lucy nods then sighs. "But then I don't remember my friends here and that's sad. Not to mention Harry and Xander are out there not remembering me right now. And that sucks."

Another sigh and a long drink of her beer. "So all in all the City sucks."
