Summary; Lucy bought the Doctor (11th) at auction and they're headed to the Chocobo Races
Log;

Lucy had decided to go with a Kentucky Derby look for her date with the Doctor. She had on a huge hat and a old fashioned swingy skirt dress that was just a little too short to be old fashioned anything. She'd never been to the Chocobo races and she was so excited about them she could hardly stand still. She was also interested in meeting this guy that was a friend of Harry's. Beyond the fact that there were two of him (one she had dubbed Sexhair while this one had been dubbed Floppy) and that they'd known Harry since his days at the academy, she knew very little about him but he'd been fun to talk to. She expected the same out of the 'date' they were having today.

She had a basket full of Southern food reasoning that if Harry hadn't ever had southern food then the Doctor hadn't either. She could be very wrong on this point. In any case there was fried chicken, sweet potato pie, potato salad and baked beans. She had a thermos of iced tea and one of mint juleps as well.

Right now she was looking at a program, trying to decide which Chocobo to bet on. She watched them in the stables, looked down at the program, looked up and then made a face.

"It's not really like the dog races. Which one do you like, Doctor?" she asked, looking up at him.

The Doctor was ecstatic. To think he'd been here in the City for...over a month? Over a month and he'd never heard of the Chocobo races before. Chocobos were definitely not Earth-dwelling sorts of creatures, that much was obvious, which made them exactly his kind of thing. He was like a kid in a sweetshop. Or a kid at the Chocobo races, since they'd probably have the exact kind of reaction he was having right now.

His grin was so wide that it threatened to leak over the edges of his face, and he was hanging off the railing in front of him with every sign of utter fascination, craning to get a better view of the stables. Chocobos! Fantastic.

At Lucy's question, he leaned back and turned to beam at her. "All of them," he said, decisively. "Never really been much of a better myself, but they're all gorgeous, so. Is that allowed, betting on all of them?"

"To Kentucky?" he asked, looking briefly puzzled. "Well, I don't really think that's an option at the moment, but if you and I ever break out of this place, then..." Flashing her a quick grin, he added, "I've been to Kentucky. One of the Kentuckys. Lovely place, hardly resembled a spaceship at all. You'd never tell."

Of course, that chatter was a bit of a cover-up -- both for the faint feeling of awkwardness this auction-date gave him, and for the knowledge that, while Lucy seemed like a lovely girl and it would probably be rather nice to go and visit Kentucky with her, the Doctor...wasn't one for sticking around. If they escaped the City, he'd probably end up disappearing back into his TARDIS and never seeing her again. Sad, to be sure, but that was usually the way it went, with him.
