When; Tuesday | 12 PM - 12 AM
Rating; PG-13? (For Amory's mouth.)
Characters; Robert Chase (
worksmart), Amory Felix (
fatespoken), and Gregory House (
vicodincrutch)
Summary; Amory wants out of the hospital, so he's taking the discreet route and transporting out, except he never expected there would be two extra passengers. Unexpected weight means miscalculation and an accidental trip to Shadow City's own hospital.
A terribly haunted version of a hospital. Wonder if they've studied up on their horrors movies enough.
Log;
[ Chase had said a few days, but a few days are too long for the man currently growing increasingly anxious with every passing hour. Amory wants out, believing that he's well enough to manage his own person in the comforts of his own bed.
Taking the front door's an impossibility, but he's got other paths paved for him. Listening closely, he checks for approaching footsteps, hearing none and assuring himself that the room itself is clear from men in white coats.
Sitting up with a weak sigh, a hand moves to carefully pluck out the IV from his arm. ]

For Chase, working nearby (of course an ICU is never free of white coats), the developments come as a surprise. As soon as the younger man managed to eat a meal and get to the bathroom on his own, he should have been good to go. He's not looking pleased when he sweeps his way past the curtain.]
What the hell do you think you're doing in here?
[He throws up a disbelieving hand at the mess on the bed, and goes to catch hold of Amory's shoulder.]
You're not ready.

Jailbreak? Not on my watch.

A change in variable like two additional passengers.
Amory lags enough to give time for both doctors to rush into the room, time for Chase to throw up his hands and for House to reach out with his cane. Both establish physical contact with him, and he barely realizes it as both motions coincide with the very moment of his disappearance, carrying them along for the ride.
For first timers, it might feel like a kick in the chest, breathing in a sudden burst of frigid wind, or enough nausea to make you puke. However, how hard they land might just override the discomfort of travel. All three of them tumble like falling rocks onto a hard hospital floor that's seen better years.
It's not the hospital they would expect, rather the start of a nightmare in its cheesiest form. Dark hallways and dilapidated scenery, what's not to like about a haunted hospital? ]

Which means in this instance he's flailing like a girl.
He turns in midair, somehow managing to take the brunt of the drop on his knee and elbow, and sending a jolt up through his shoulder that makes him wonder if he's dislocated something. At least it wasn't his nose. Now, before any of this starts making sense, whether to check on the cripple or the invalid, first?
The cripple pays him.]
House?
[He looks up and immediately wants to crash down again in a dizzy rush.]
What the... Everyone alright?

Cane.
Someone get the name of that truck?

Lose some fucking weight, you assholes. [ He coughs abruptly. ] This is why I don't take passengers.
[ Eloquence is the last thing on his mind as he crawls shakily onto his knees, darkness of the room shuttering dim to pitch black in an attempt to open his eyes. A jerky movement to the side follows with him puking, or at least that was what he intended. There's coughed up blood on the floor instead.
Minutes haven't even passed, and he's already struggling.]

He's not sure about it being so quiet all around. Up ahead he could swear he saw a greyed out face through the sheet glass of a theatre window, watching. But it is quiet. Quiet enough to be almost familiar. If only one of the windows showed a view outside.]
Take us where? [Eden teleports, though Chase has been with her only once. And that was getting back from...] Amory, where is this?
[The clipped tension in his voice is only overcome by the motion that goes against his own nausea, reaching across to support Amory's shoulders.]

More importantly, how do we get away from wherever we are?

And that must be the problem. ]
Home. I was trying to go home. But then, I didn't expect extra baggage. Must have threw me off. [ A moment of silence, attempting to put broken pieces of thought together. ] I don't know where the fuck we are.
[ In time with his declaration, there's a sudden shriek and clatter of falling unknowns that echoes down the hall way. For Chase who's holding his shoulders, it should be noted that he doesn't flinch like a little girl. ]
Can't take the three of us back from wherever we are; I don't think I can even take myself at this point.

You must have redecorated since my last visit. [Chase remarks, a weak attempt to get back to himself through the dull aftershock of the travel, then drops his head in exasperation as Amory outlines as much as he knows. In other words, nothing much. And that scream goes through him with a start.]
I think I know. I'd need to get to a window to be sure-- never came down this far last time. [He glances around, at least trying to get his bearings in what should be a facsimile of what he's used to.] There's another City. Last time it was empty.
[Another look in the direction the noises came from implies that present company is excepted in what he means. A deep breath. They can't just sit here.]
We should see what it can offer in terms of an ICU.

Another City through the looking glass.
Can't the pack mule carry one load at a time?

At this point, I don't think I could carry myself, let alone one cripple and another jackass.
[ If he wasn't testy enough, Chase bringing up the prospect of another ICU doesn't do his temper any favors. A ICU in a potentially haunted hospital, actually. Out of the corner of slanted eyes, he shoots the blond doctor a vague look of loathing, then another at the taller one. ]
No. Someway, we're getting out of here, Chase. Never met a pocket dimension that didn't have some kind of exit.

[If Chase snaps, it's because he's the only one who has been outside here and tasted the air. There are an infinite number of poisons in the world and a lucky few that can be diagnosed by the taint they leave on a patient's breath. Cyanide, like bitter almonds. Others like grapes, ammonia, rot.
He can't define it, but the air in this place had tasted toxic.
And that scream comes again.]
Maybe we should lay around and let whatever that is come and find us. Maybe dying is the best way to get home.
[He lets go of Amory, slowly enough that it doesn't jolt him, and pushes himself to his feet with rough determination.]
I'm going to get you in a bed and try getting through to Eden.
