When; July 1; Afternoon [BACKDATED]
Rating; G
Characters; Tyr McDohl [
stargathering] and Connell [
sound_rune]
Summary; After coming home from his first day as being a Brave Vesperia member, Connell waits for Tyr to come home himself. He decided to properly thank Tyr for helping him settle in and even find this job - by baking cookies for him!
Log; After finally finishing up in the kitchen, Connell sat down a chair in the living room to ease his knees and legs from the long day so far. The weather today was slightly hot, so he can't help himself but to remove his black beret off the top of his head and started to gently fan himself with it as he waited and relaxed for the moment.
Over the minute, Connell eventually leaned back and then glanced up the room's clock to check on the time. He wondered when the others would come home. Even though he baked cookies for Tyr, he wouldn't forget to share with Luc and Riou, too - of course! Whenever they decide to come out, they'll be handed their own set of cookies. But for now, Connell was expecting the former Tenkai Star that he had barely talked to in the past. (It didn't help that everyone wanted a piece of Tyr back at Dunan Castle!) So, maybe today is a good day to get to know him!

"Connell," Tyr greeted him with a small smile. ...Did he smell something? He peeked around, but nothing caught his eye immediately. "Did you just get here, too?"
no subject
He still was rather used to Crystal Valley's lifestyle, so even the smallest moments right now was making him a bit nervous or excited.
"And - ah, no," Connell shortly added after moving over to stand nearer the door way as he still kept his bright smile, "I managed to finish early, so I've been home for a while now. How was your day, Lord Tyr?"
no subject
"Fine," Tyr responded simply, closing the door behind him. "It's pretty hot today, but it's not that bad..."
The heat wasn't, at least. Whatever had been affecting him didn't just go away with a good night's sleep.
Changing the subject back to Connell, though, Tyr asked, "Anyway, today wasn't that bad for you?"
no subject
"You're right... It's a little sudden for me, since it was winter in Crystal Valley before I found myself here," said Connell as he thought of it. But he's definitely managing well enough.
"Today had turned out well. I really thank you for helping me find a place in Brave Vesperia, Lord Tyr. Yuri is such a nice person, too."
no subject
It was much easier to talk about Yuri and that than addressing the fact Connell was from the future. It was summer when Riou and himself went fishing that day and were pulled into the City, so for Connell to have been experiencing winter in Harmonia...
Tyr shook his head of the thoughts and walked further into the living room. After being on his feet all day, that couch looked wonderful. "I wonder if a job will come up for you to use your phonology skills..."
no subject
When Tyr finally started to walk further in, he regained a pleasant expression on his face to the latter statement, "... If there is a need for it, I will do my best."
"Oh, yes," Connell moved to stand by the kitchen door way and turned his head to Tyr again, "I'll be right back."
no subject
With Connell retreating to the kitchen, Tyr made himself comfortable on the couch and pulled off his bandanna. His hair was something of a mess beneath it, but it was a bit warm with it on. He just let it rest on the arm of seat. Connell was a good kid, Tyr idly thought. Even if he was still getting to know him, he was glad it was Connell that showed up rather than... He was definitely more helpful than he thought some members of the Dunan Army would be.

With that said, he took the checkered cloth off the small food basket on the tray, revealing the different-shaped cookies in them. Look who had fun with the cookie molds he found? Beside the small basket lied a newly brewed tea in a cup. There's a mint leaf in it for an added cool touch.
no subject
"This looks great, Connell," he said as he pulled a star-shaped cookie from the basket. "I guess you really are still in that winter mood."
no subject
"I suppose I am!" he admitted, still holding that friendly expression of his own.
"But if it gets warmer tomorrow, I'll make a cooler snack for everyone."
no subject
Luc was another matter entirely.
Between bites of cookie, Tyr asked, "Did you cook a lot before you joined the Dunan Army?"
no subject
"... How about you, Lord Tyr? - Ah, it must be Lord Gremio who cooked for you, yes? I have heard he's taken care of you for the longest time!"
no subject
The thought of Gremio made Tyr smile at any rate. But even though he knew that time didn't matter in the City, he wondered now and then about Gremio. He always wanted Tyr back by supper, and here it had been months since he's seen the McDohl household at all.
Dismissing that thought, Tyr looked again to Connell. "Maybe when Gremio and I set out again, we can try taking turns like that, too. He'd have to teach me everything, though..."
no subject
"Yes. It'll be fun to learn. Cooking isn't too hard, it just requires a little patience," he added shortly, "I can help you too, Lord Tyr."
Speaking of cooking... he always wondered about something!
"That stew receipe that Lord Riou had received from Lord Gremio... was that your favorite?"
no subject
Forgetting Connell said that, Tyr nodded, "I think so... I don't know if Riou ever tried to make it before, but..." He was pretty much convinced Gremio was the only one that could make Gremio's stew.
Tyr's teasing is the secret ingredient."Anyway, I'd like to learn how to cook in any case. Gremio's stew might be too complex for me to make, though..."
no subject
Hearing that from Tyr, he nodded as well, "Lord Riou tried to make it a few times during the cooking competitions... But he didn't manage to make it right. Maybe Lord Gremio should give tips to us, too, someday!"
There's always space for learning for him, too. Even though he already knows... that doesn't mean he can't learn anything further. That's what he always believed.
no subject
He remembered the time they first returned to Gregminster and the group that surrounded the both of them. The war even made Gremio's cooking famous... It left a bit of a bitter-sweet feeling in him. He snatched another cookie from the basket.
no subject
"I've always wanted to know how his stew tasted like... I hope I will get to, when we meet with him again, someday!"
no subject
no subject
"Could I...?" he asked quietly. It's true that he wanted to taste the stew for himself since he heard so much about it, but he also didn't want to be rude to anyone, yet alone trouble them for anything.
no subject
"Don't worry about it, Connell," he assured him.
no subject
He smiled when Tyr said that to him, nodding once more, "... Thank you very much. I'll look forward to it."
no subject
Tyr fell silent thinking of that, but soon enough looked over to Connell again. "What were you doing in Crystal Valley, anyway?"
no subject
"There are so many others who are just as skilled, I wish to learn more. To hear their own experiences and opinions in these fields... And as I go along, I hopefully will be able to extend my own knowledge to others."
no subject
"Do you want to become a phonology teacher later?" he asked. It already sounded like a very scholarly pursuit, but it sounded like the ultimate goal was to teach.
no subject
"When opportunities such as teaching others come to me, I will gladly accept them. I will keep on moving forward as I remain true to my wish."
no subject
"I see... When we return to our own world, good luck following that wish..."
no subject
Perhaps there could be a good reason for him to have ended up here. It might've been startling at first, and still could be a bit scary time to time with those curses, it's not over all that bad. It didn't seem to be. And that was fine.
"... What about you, Lord Tyr? Do you have a particular goal?"
no subject
"I'd like to catch a nice, big fish sometime..." he said simply.
no subject
Connell faintly turned his head, moving his fingers to his mouth to stop him from chuckling loudly, managing to tone it down with that gesture. He can't help it. That was such an adorable reply. It's... so much like Tyr. Maybe this is how the real Tyr is like, outside of that idol, hero figure that everyone admired.
"... Then, I hope that you do!"
no subject
"Thanks. Someday I will... Maybe the fish bite more in the Island Nations..."
no subject
Someday, he'll want to watch Tyr fishing, or try fishing for himself.
no subject
no subject
"That person must be so skilled...!"
no subject
"Yeah, she has some type of water magic... She can just pull fish out of the water."
no subject
Just imaginging that, it must've been an interesting watch even for Tyr. He wondered if other worlds also used runes... But then, he's heard of so many foreign magic terms over the network. This just made more curious.
no subject
All the foreign terms generally went over Tyr's head, though he came to learn some of them. Craymels, artes, bending... How they worked was something else entirely, though.
no subject
"Then, I'll look forward to meeting her sometime," Connell said with a smile. And why not? It was nice to know Tyr had so many friends...
