Summary; courage_of_fire celebrates her first birthday in The City at the beach. willofthewinds and soulofocean have taken an oath: to make hers a surprise party to remember.

Satisfaction after a job well done. Nothing like it. Looking around, Umi decided this had all been more than worth the effort and the running all over The City to buy supplies so that the party could have the right feeling. Each of their friends had done their part to render the place picture-perfect, and now it was just as Fuu and herself had planned. Maybe even prettier.



The tables were set, the food all neatly served, torches that would be lit once the sun started setting lined up the beach right outside the house... even the music helped build up the spirit! As the guests continued to arrive they'd start with the dancing and the games. Then, when the moment came, they'd all gather around the gigantic birthday cake that had taken the Water Knight the whole previous night to finish so that Hikaru could blow her fifteen candles and make her wish. Then all of it would be truly flawless. And they could go for the grand finale.

...She deserved it. More than that. Making sure that even while stuck in a place like this Hikaru could have a wonderful birthday was more important to Umi than anything. Shaking a silly wistful feeling, she smiled and hurried back to greeting the guests.

The best part about the whole party would be the surprise element. She was sure Hikaru hadn't seen this event coming.

Alerted by the sound of her name, Hikaru turned towards Connell and tilted her head to one side. He looked familiar somehow. Recalling the last video post prompted her to smile and rush over to meet him part of the way. "Connell! I'm so glad that you could make it!". This was yet another surprise! She didn't know that he'd be attending! Did Umi invite him? It seemed like the other knights invited everyone in the City!

"And thank you! It's great to see you too! Feel free to help yourself to the refreshments and everything!".

"How are you feeling?" It had been sometime since they last spoke.. but it couldn't hurt to ask. The fever had to be gone by now or Connell would still be at home resting!

"I'm very honored to be here," he simply said, still holding a very happy smile. He was glad to see Hikaru looking well and cheerful as well. It's just as Umi said, an upbeat song would fit her. He can't wait to perform for her later on.

"Thank you very much. Please don't worry about me today, it's your birthday. I'm sure everyone else here would wish your best this day."

At her last question though, he nodded to it before answering, "I'm feeling better now. I'm grateful to everyone that helped me with chores and my friend Tyr who had taken care of me."

It was by this time that she noticed the large guitar case. Was it heavy? It made Connell seem smaller than he actually was. Maybe there was someplace he could set it down or.. her eyes searched the beach. That table had some open space! "Would you like to set that down someplace?" She asked motioning towards the guitar case. She couldn't help herself, she was still trying to tend to her guests and make them more comfortable.

"Ah, your welcome!"

Hikaru's smile widened when he answered the last question. "I'm glad you're feeling well! It's no fun being sick. Hey, why don't we save some cake for Tyr and your elves! Do elves eat cake?".

It would be silly to carry around a guitar case everywhere he would walk to! So, Connell smiled at her offer, "... If I may, Miss Hikaru." Connell didn't mind her hospitality, even at her own party. He rather appreciates it, in fact! It just truly shown how kind and thoughtful Hikaru is. It should be that way.

"Oh, my... really? You would not mind? Tyr and my elves would definitely love it."

'Of course you may!" Her voice practically sung as she replied. Yes, it would be quite cumbersome to keep holding on to that instrument, and it would inhibit Connell from being able to participate in any of the other activities. This way he could join in!

"I wouldn't mind a bit! I have to save a slice for someone else too." She trailed off before adding, "He won't be able to make it to the party".

"It's a shame your friends didn't come along. They would have been welcome here!".

"Perhaps next time then..." Connell smiled at that, glad that his friends would be welcome. But anyway, Connell was certain that the others would be happy with the cake he'll bring back. To that, he nodded, "Thank you very much, really, Miss Hikaru."

"Well, I do hope you'll have a lot of fun today. I'll go set this down," he said afterwards, moving a hand up to wave at her.

"Definitely!" She nodded as if further encouragement was required. "Your welcome, don't mention it!".

"I hope we'll all have a lot of fun today," Hikaru amended before Connell left to place the instrument down on the table. She returned the wave and looked for other guests that needed attending to.
