Truffles
When; 2010-08-14, in the afternoon.
Rating; PG for possible language
Characters; Di Di Malloy (
bufferprincess), Alester Siddons (
no_defender)
Summary; Having meet a new friend in each other, Di Di has offered to give Alester cooking lessons, more specifically how to make truffles. Everyone loves truffles.
Log;
Di Di strolled along the side walk as normal. She was in casual clothing, but looking put together and nice. It was on a rare occasion that she was making fiends here. Well that was the same thing for her time at home, but she had managed a few more here. Her newest one seemed rather cute. She grinned as she thought that, turning the corner to have Cafe Juliet in her sights. It was kind of funny that the first thing that got them talking was coffee.
Stopping in front of the store she looked around, she knew what he looked like from the network, but she didn't spot him right off. Oh well, perhaps saying his name would help. "Alester?" She ventured.

It helped that the girl--probably around his youngest half-brother's age--was calling his first name. Everyone was so informal here, but he found he didn't mind it much. "Di Di?" he said, walking over.

It was a little odd, and she shifted on her feet. He was older, about the age of... ANYWAY "Nice to meet you in person." she extended a hand to him. No need to not be polite. She still cursed in the back of her head that he wasn't her age though. "So do you want some coffee here then head to my place or I can make you some? It's up to you." She sighed, calming down. "If you're picky I'd pick it up here. I don't have the best coffee in the world."

"How about here? My treat, in return for the lessons." He wondered who she lived with, whether she had family in the city, whether it was perfectly normal here for a girl her age to be out without a chaperon. He decided any questions could wait until later, though. It was certainly more polite that way.

"OKay, cool." She moved away from him and to the counter. Saying what she wanted, some new frapa something they had, before she then turned to him. "Chivalry must not be dead where you're from. That's really awesome."

[ooc: All moved in and finally hooked up to the internet. Accidental hiatus over.]

"Sometimes people don't need to fight in a duel to defend someone's honor. You know?" Still has a bit of a far off look in her eyes as she sat down.
"But I'm sure your place is a lot nicer then mine anyway." She took a sip of her drink before looking back at him. "Can you tell me more about it?"

"I don't even know where to start. I've lived in three countries by now and each place has had it's good points and bad. The city I was just in before ending up here is called Adras and it's a port city, so there's plenty of activity and the view of the ocean is beautiful. The buildings aren't big like some of the ones here, maybe four stories, except for the Great Houses belonging to the most prominent merchant families, which are almost little fortresses. There are people from all over living there. But not in the same way as here, that's for sure."
He looks around with a wry smile.
"But you'll have to tell me exactly what you want to hear about, or I'll just go on and on. And I'm sure your home would be just as interesting to me."

"We don't have any holidays called halloween. There are all sorts of religious observations, but my favorite is the Harvest Festival, which culminates in the Autumnal Equinox. We celebrate all the equinoxes and solstices, but that's really more of a ma--Charterrean thing to do."
He'd been about to say that it was a mage thing, but caught himself in time. He just didn't want to go into that.
