Summary; Curt Wild & Time Bomb, live in concert at the Piaculum Palace ballroom
Log;

Tickets have been on sale for a while and fliers have been put up around the City advertising, but tonight's the big night. Curt is wearing silver pants, which were made by Cinna, to replace the pair he had before coming to the City. They are very tight and low and shiny. He is wearing a shirt initially , but it disappears mysteriously before the night's even halfway through.

You might question his musical style, his presentation or his subject matter, but you definitely can't question the fact that he's putting his all into the performance, though he's a little more restrained than he's been in the past. He plays guitar on a few songs, but not most of them, which is good because he moves around a lot and occasionally writhes around on the floor. Occasionally he looks like he's about to have seizure.

His songs are about drug addiction, feeling powerless, boredom, love, lust, and sex. He writes about what he feels and he doesn't hold anything back. Sometimes it looks like he's singing all for one person who isn't even there. Overall, though, it looks like he's having the best time of his life. He wants you to have a good time too.

The entire night involves vast quantities of glitter.

Set List:

1. Hollow
2. Dirt
3. I Wanna Be Your Dog
4. My Unclean
5. Tick Tick Tick - A new song about not knowing what's going to come at midnight
6. Search and Destroy

Intermission

7. T.V. Eye - there's also a *NSFW* clip from the movie
8. Rosalyn
9. No Fun
10. She's Like Poison
11. Don't Mean a Thing - A new song wondering if everything is meaningless
12. Gimme Danger - This clip from the movie will give you the best idea of Curt's performance

[ooc: Make sure to indicate whether threads are open or not. Your character is welcome to try to interact with Curt backstage before or after the show(you'll probably have to sneak back there if you're not a friend of his) and I'll put up an open thread for that. Your character may also yell/throw things at him during the show if they really want. Comment to the main entry and put something like "To Curt, during show " to make sure I notice it. B/k is on hiatus but unless I hear otherwise from her, Demyx is there with the band, playing his sitar for at least some of the songs.

A note on 4th Walling: Yes, your character can comment on the fact that half the songs are apparently covers of Stooges songs if it is reasonable that they would know this.]

Kenny came to hear the band that he had earlier compared to Elvis, if only to understand the concept of rock and roll. It has only taken him three seconds to realize that it was nothing at all like the King, but that doesn't mean that the young man thought it was bad, either. Nothing that he's ever experienced before.

It was interesting.

Now he's wandering around a little, in front of the Palace. He had only spoken to Curt once before, so he doesn't feel like going backstage. At some point, later, he'll tell the other man what he thought.

Penny has been doing a variety of odd jobs this evening, but she finds a moment to sneak backstage to find Curt. It's his first real show in the City, after all; he could use a 'good luck' or two. The shiny silver pants make Curt a fairly easy target even in the dim lighting.

"Curt! Hey." She almost has to shout over the general noise backstage. To Penny's credit, however, she very nearly looks like someone who belongs at a crazy rock concert; she never did get to change out of the little black dress Angela convinced her to go out in earlier that day. Still, nothing compares to the pants. Wow. "How is everything? Good to go?"

[ooc: P.S. Sorry for logo-making fail!]

"Sorry. Did I interrupt there?" She pulls the hem of her dress down as she talks, apparently about as unused to wearing shorter fitted clothes as Curt is to seeing her in them. "It's nothing important... nothing interrupt-worthy."

"I just wanted to say good luck." She reconsiders and adds, "Or break a leg. In the... you know. Good luck sense."

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-08-31 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
"That's a little less violent than leg-breaking, I guess. Not that you'll need it. Good luck, I mean."

"Not a problem! I hope you'll get to use it to advertise for more concerts after this one." Penny doesn't really doubt that there will be more concerts. Curt's music isn't exactly her speed, but he's good and he's the only real rock star in the City. He's bound to be popular.

Penny gives Curt a quick hug before excusing herself. "I left Chris waiting out there... better go before he gets too twitchy. ...And good luck."

Curt is not the first, nor will he be the last, to refer to Chris as what's-his-name (or something similar). It doesn't phase Penny. "Sure. We'll meet up with you... assuming you're not being carried away by crazy fangirls or anything."

"Later, Curt."

Penny's not about to underestimate the enthusiasm of a city full of people who haven't seen an actual concert in years.

Natasha had decided to attend the concert on a whim, in an effort to quiet the ticking in her head once she was alone in her apartment after work. So she arrives, dressed in her business attire still and a little out of place though it doesn't seem to bother her. The ticking can still be heard but it's dulled and just that much is even a momentous relief.

The type of music wasn't entirely of matter to her, but she couldn't help enjoying herself, upon seeing that Curt was lost in his music entirely. She knew that feeling, of finding something that was fluid, made a person feel less like they were losing himself.

"You're very talented." The words are quiet but confident and perhaps they belie some of her true intention.

She smiles back and takes another step into the room, leaning against one of the chairs, but not sitting.

"I see you're already aware of that, though." Natasha tucks a piece of hair behind her ear, while taking in the room around her.

"I did, though I can't say that the music is entirely my taste. It was a memorable performance, though, yes." She doesn't hesitate to add to that air. "But I think that has more to do with how much you enjoyed yourself."

"Ah, well--" Now that she's on the spot, it's harder to actually come up with something to say. "I'm not entirely sure. I like a variety of music, actually. I'm most familiar with classical ballet."

[identity profile] fromlegal.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
"I am. Admittedly I simply came to your concert to help dull the ticking." She doesn't really want to talk about her ballet training; and she's pretty certain he doesn't care about it, as most people wouldn't. "And to see if a crowd helped drive it out better than a single companion. The bonus was a good show, at least."

"Momentarily, yes. And what about you?" She's got to wonder how playing to a crowd affects one's mental state in the City.

The prospect of a real concert in the City was one that Rudy found quite intriguing, particularly coming from the guy who once assured him that the best music is the stuff that your parents refuse to let you listen to. Furthermore, the event had not only been sponsored but recommended by one Adrian Veidt, and if Curt's own advertising hadn't already been enough to persuade Rudy to show up, Adrian's personal recommendation would have.

Glam rock is not his favourite genre of music, and he does occasionally permit his features to reflect a hint of distaste at the vast quantities of glitter included in the show, but a concert is a concert, and Rudy knows a good performance when he hears it. Besides, Bowie would approve, and therefore so does he.

His ears still ringing pleasantly from the show, he finds himself a relatively unobtrusive space of wall outside the ballroom and leans against it, surveying the crowd with a critical eye. He's not particularly expecting to see any familiar faces, but one never knows who might turn up at an event like this.

Before the show starts, Penny might be glimpsed here and there, running about with almost supernatural agility in heels and a little black dress that looks like it came from someone else's wardrobe. She has some odd jobs to do--people-herding, mostly--but it's for a good cause. Maybe Curt's music is entire genres away from what she usually listens to, but he's a good performer and he could use some success. Maybe, if the concert goes well, it'll feel a bit more like home for him.

This concert is a far cry from that little song he wrote for her for her birthday.

Chris hoped that maybe he'd be spending more time with Penny before the concert but she does like helping out, and they'll at least see the concert together, yeah? He hopes so. This all looks very familiar, but in a way where he really isn't sure if this is his sort of thing. Never mind it. If Penny wants to go to a concert, he'll go with her, even if it's some sort of charity case or something. All sorts of blokes at concerts. Not that he doesn't trust Penny, but still. All sorts.

Anyway, he's supposed to meet her here, cos of all the work she has and there is actually a moment where he doesn't realise it's her. Until he does, because her hair is unmistakable, at the very least.

"Penny!" He looks her up and down. Sorry, Penny, it's just a bit hard for him to focus on your eyes when there's so much else to look at. But he's making a brave attempt at it. "Blimey...y'look amazing!" He on the other hand is still just in shirtsleeves and trousers. They're his best trousers, though, and it's a clean shirt!

Before the concert

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-08-31 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
Penny stops abruptly upon hearing her name, very nearly dropping the programs in her arms. She'd wondered how she'd find Chris; it's quite considerate of him to do the finding for her.

"Hey!" She follows Chris's eyes and tugs on the dress's relatively short hemline self-consciously. Not that it's not nice to be oogled a little, it's just not the natural order of things. "Oh--thanks! Um. Angela thought a change of pace would be good... just for something different." Penny smiles and turns the compliment back on Chris, even though he looks rather a lot like he usually does. "You look nice, too."

She remembers the programs she's toting around and adds, "I need to go put these out and then I'll be right back. Save me a seat?"

Before the concert

[identity profile] justcautious.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll 'ave t'buy Angela a choccy bar or sommat," says Chris, still looking very appreciative. "Uh, ta." Can't be half as nice as Penny.

He nods. He wouldn't expect Penny to drop her work for him. Very dedicated, her. "Okay, I'll find someplace." Programs in arms...and there's a concert soon. Might as well take the chance. He takes a step in toward her, puts a hand on her shoulder and kisses her quickly on the lips, as long as he dares.

Before the concert

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
"She doesn't need any encouraging," Penny laughs. The reactions her dress is getting, however, might encourage Penny to switch her wardrobe up a little. Maybe Angela's on to something.

Of all of the things that Penny expects, a kiss is not one of them. After the disaster that had been their first date, Chris had been extremely hesitant to make any advances; Penny had been wondering if she'd scared him away from anything more than hand-holding. If it weren't for the pile of programs in her hands and her brain's slow reaction, she'd have kissed him back.

There's always later.

"I'll just... be a minute. With the programs. Not long at all."

Before the concert

[identity profile] justcautious.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Angela most certainly is.

And, well, she didn't kiss him back, but it's okay, she doesn't seem offended or anything. So, Chris steps back again with an amiable smile on, nodding.

"Alright, Penny. See y'later, then."

Before the concert

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Penny is most certainly not offended.

She takes off with the programs and disappears into the crowd, only to reappear a few minutes later. Okay, so it was a little more than a minute. At least her hands are free and everything's taken care of. Penny looks for Chris, hoping he didn't get too far in those few minutes.

Before the concert

[identity profile] justcautious.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Chris is really not that good at shouldering through crowds when he can't make them part somewhat with his badge, so he really hasn't gotten very far at all. Besides, he's still trying to find at least two seats, together, and when he can only see a bit forward at a time, it's a bit difficult. He's fairly short. Seeing over people is a bit difficult.

Before the concert

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
At least Chris's lack of progress makes him easy enough to find. Penny makes her way back over to him. She's not much of one for shouldering, either, but being relatively small has its advantages.

"Slow going?" she asks (although the answer is obviously a yes), slipping an arm through his. "There're a bunch of open seats up closer to the front."

Before the concert

[identity profile] justcautious.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Chris looks sideways at Penny. "Closer t'the front? Would've thought those ones'd all be taken, yeah?" He starts trying to edge forward through the crowd anyway. "So, Curt Wild's music...what's it like, then? I reckon it's somethin' I'll prob'ly know, innit? Ray said this bloke's from when we are."

Before the concert

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
"You'd think, but maybe everyone's too afraid to get too close." Penny opts to take the lead. She might have exaggerated about the amount of open seats near the front, but she did see some. "Um. He calls it glam rock. I guess that'd be like... I don't know. It's not the kind of thing I listen to, usually."

Before the concert

[identity profile] justcautious.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Glam?" Chris brightens slightly, letting Penny direct him by his arm. "Like Bowie, then?"

Before the concert

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
She steers him, a bit more capable of maneuvering in the crowd. Maybe it's because she's smaller. Maybe it's because people are more likely to move for tiny redheads. "Yeah, like Bowie." Penny only has a vague notion of who Bowie is, but Chris doesn't need to know that.

There are, indeed, a couple of chairs open a few rows back from the very front. It takes some climbing over people and several "sorry"s and "I'm so sorry, is your foot okay?"s to get there, but seats are secured.

Before the concert

[identity profile] justcautious.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Brill." It's probably that. Might be the dress too.

Chris almost falls on his face twice, tripping over people as he attempts to climb over them. It's a relief to him when they finally get to what are now their seats. Sighing relievedly, he sits down. "So when's the show startin'?"

Before the concert

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, well... maybe.

Penny makes a mental note to find slightly more accessible seats if they're ever in a similar situation again. Chris's climbing-over-people skills leave something to be desired. "Soon? Soonish. Maybe five minutes." She motions for him to lean closer. "Hey, Chris?"

Before the concert

[identity profile] justcautious.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay," says Chris, smiling in acknowledgement, before he follows Penny's directions and leans in. "Yeah?"

Before the concert

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Rather than answering verbally, Penny kisses Chris. Not a shy kiss, not an intimate kiss, but one that she certainly hopes will make up for her lack of responsiveness earlier. Maybe Chris will take the hint and stop walking on eggshells--strictly metaphorical eggshells of the physical intimacy variety--around her.

Before the concert

[identity profile] justcautious.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It does, definitely. Chris kisses Penny back and feels hopeful. He must be working this through right somehow. As for not walking on eggshells, Chris might be more likely to kiss Penny from this point forward, but physicality beyond that and hugs will still take him a little bit to work himself up to try. Penny's been officially his girlfriend for around a month, and that's about when most of his girlfriends split it off. And that plus the first date means that he's being careful. He likes Penny. He doesn't want to lose her.
