[ At the end of the day, Yuri and Flynn are tired and covered in blood and dirt-- mostly others' -- after they spent the whole day saving, trying and failing to save-- all at once-- the people caught in the head-chopping curse. It didn't look like anyone had died in the curse, at least, but it was still unnerving to watch. The deities thought it was fun, but Flynn -- and he was sure, Yuri, too -- thought it was just cruel.

That was a curse, though, something they've come to (somehow) expect in the City. What Flynn finds himself worrying about more as he removes his armor is something else: Yuri. His friend had been in a strange mood all day long, and even if nobody would have noticed, Flynn did. The way he fought, the look on his face; Flynn knew it to be the face Yuri used when he was trying to shoulder something on his own again. After removing the final pieces of armor on his person, he turns to his friend.

He uses that simple tone he usually does when he knows Yuri is hiding something and he wants him to share. Of course, Flynn knows he doesn't have to share much now. He, at least, knows exactly why Yuri is the way he is now. He just wants to know how exactly he's feeling. Yuri shouldn't have to carry that alone. ]

Yuri.

[He tenses the slightest bit- no, it's not nothing. It's definitely something. Expected and unexpected, reality and still a haze of disbelief.]

She's gone. I miss her. What else?

[ Flynn says, but the underlying message he had was that he knew Yuri wasn't that kind of person. Sure, he liked to talk big and tough, but... Flynn had seen how much Ino had mattered to Yuri. For him to take this development easily... it would mean that Ino hadn't mattered much after all.

Flynn doesn't believe that.

And that has him falling into a familiar pattern... ]

[He sits on the floor, hunched and staring at the wooden floor.]

[ Flynn looks at Yuri, and then seats on the floor as well. They can lean against each other's backs? :D ]

We'll wait for her, Yuri.

[He leans against Flynn almost automatically, a habit he picked up as a child. It's a little comforting, at least, this kind of familiarity.]

Don't waste your time. The City decides who comes back and who doesn't - I get the feeling she won't.

[He once heard, after all, that when a person has the time to leave a note, it's a sign that he or she won't return. At least with memories.]

Then I'll wait for her. For you, of course. It's a knight's duty to be patient and await orders no matter what, sometimes.

[ He says quietly and smiles. ]

[There Flynn goes again, taking on the burdens Yuri can't carry. He's grateful, because he's always been a little more pessimistic than Flynn. As he fully leans his weight against Flynn, now, exhausted, he thinks to himself that he's at least glad for the opportunity. He hadn't been in such an...interesting relationship, having always been so busy with the Knights, with helping the Lower Quarter, with saving the world.]

Always the dashing knight in shining armor, aren't you? Does that make me the damsel in distress?

[ Flynn laughs. ]

You could pass for it if you wanted to, I suppose. Your hair is long enough.

[ Flynn laughs at Yuri's reaction. And then for a moment, there's silence from Flynn's side, and then he just leans back on his friend more. ]

Yuri, don't keep too many things from me. I'd know, anyway.

[ It just makes him upset when you don't tell him something srs he's already guessed you'd do. ]

I'm not gonna hide it- she meant a lot to me. I've never had the time for anything like that before. So it's different. Weird, even. I can't explain it.

[He presses his hands together thoughtfully.]

I guess... I've learned a lot of things in this place.

[ A pause. ]

You've been here longer than I have been, right, Yuri?

[ Flynn says in a light tone and then turns serious. ]

Let's leave together when the chance presents itself. I won't leave you behind.
