tampered | (no subject)

WHEN: midnight between Sept.29 - 30th, all day of the 30th.

SUMMARY: Come midnight,

monstrodick seeks its [Bad username or site: tharheblows title= @ livejournal.com] in battle, taking down his ship in three flicks of its great tail in the course of one hellish hour. The Whale takes the Captain, but spares his crew, and later it returns to carry the less fortunate survivors to the island fringe. And what of the Arkmaster? Time will tell. For now, deprived of their weapons and their goods, the shipwrecked Citizens should care for their own.

[ooc: have fun playing out the aftermath of the shipwreck! After sinking the ship, The Whale will deliver any survivor who can't make it back to the island on their own; it will also be making sure no one tries to escape the City by trying to swim further off in the horizon.

If you'd like to log the ship sinking, or your characters making their way back to the City!island, be sure to title your threads "DURING SHIPWRECK" or "ON THE WAY BACK" or something to hint at the timeline. If not, just go ahead and thread how your gent, or your belle manages to pull it together and survive at the City!island periphery without much by way of provisions.

Remember that while they'll have access to their apparently waterproof network devices, your characters won't be able to get back into the City proper until tomorrow, because of the very heavy patrol of forest monsters blocking the way. (Naturally, it never hurts to try!) Likewise, while people in the City are welcome to give them tips or instructions, and to know of their whereabouts, they shouldn't be able to physically come down and meet the survivors at this time.]

[All good points, but Penny suspects Rosella's going to fall over if she doesn't take it easy. The blond looks paler than usual; surely that's not good.]

How about we take turns looking for people? You can go sit with Snowdrop and Babbage, maybe, and I'll look first?

[Because looking will keep Penny from thinking, and not thinking about what has happened and who might be missing and what happened to the poor pigeon and Cabbage is good. Keeping Rosella in one piece is good, too.]

That...yes, that sounds like it might be a good idea, yes. Let's do that.

[She nods, smoothing her wet hair back once more for good measure, then manages a slight smile for Penny before turning back in the direction she came.]

[Penny feels somewhat victorious and confident that Rosella won't die of... hypothermia or whatever it is that people die of when they're wet and cold and tired. She hurries after her, still cradling Babbage. More fires are showing up, even though the sun hasn't set. Everyone must be cold.]

Who all do you want me to look for for you? Cain, Neil, Todd...

[As she walks, it suddenly occurs to Rosella to start trying to wring out her dress a little more than she already has, in the hopes that squeezing out some of the remaining water will help with warding off the oncoming chill. It's something of a fruitless hope, but at least it keeps her fingers busy. And she'll be all right once she finds a fire, too.]

Yes, please. I don't know who else might've been on, or who might be out here, or...

[It still hasn't occurred to Penny to do anything to dry herself off, and her shoes were lost at some point in the wreck. It's a good thing she doesn't have to worry about getting sick; common sense and survival skills are anything but Penny's fortes.]

We'll find everyone eventually.

Could I maybe leave Babbage with you for a while? He's shaking... I think being by a fire would be good for him, too.

Yes, of course. Poor thing, he really ought to get dried out...and Snowdrop, too, if she'll let me.

[It's not until they reach a fire that Rosella really pauses to take stock of Penny's current condition, but when she does, her response is immediate.]

Goodness, you must be freezing--here, let me give you my shoes, at least, so you're not walking around barefoot.

Poor kitty. I bet the water bothered her more than it did Babbage...

[Once near the fire, Penny begins constructing a hasty little guinea pig corral for Babbage out of wreckage and sticks. Hopefully he'll be close enough to dry off without catching on fire or anything.

She smiles at Rosella and declines the shoes.]

Keep those. I can't hardly feel the cold, so it's all good.
