WHEN: midnight between Sept.29 - 30th, all day of the 30th.
RATING: PG-13
CHARACTERS: anyone on that darn tootin' Ark.
SUMMARY: Come midnight,

monstrodick seeks its [Bad username or site: tharheblows title= @ livejournal.com] in battle, taking down his ship in three flicks of its great tail in the course of one hellish hour. The Whale takes the Captain, but spares his crew, and later it returns to carry the less fortunate survivors to the island fringe. And what of the Arkmaster? Time will tell. For now, deprived of their weapons and their goods, the shipwrecked Citizens should care for their own.

[ooc: have fun playing out the aftermath of the shipwreck! After sinking the ship, The Whale will deliver any survivor who can't make it back to the island on their own; it will also be making sure no one tries to escape the City by trying to swim further off in the horizon.

If you'd like to log the ship sinking, or your characters making their way back to the City!island, be sure to title your threads "DURING SHIPWRECK" or "ON THE WAY BACK" or something to hint at the timeline. If not, just go ahead and thread how your gent, or your belle manages to pull it together and survive at the City!island periphery without much by way of provisions.

Remember that while they'll have access to their apparently waterproof network devices, your characters won't be able to get back into the City proper until tomorrow, because of the very heavy patrol of forest monsters blocking the way. (Naturally, it never hurts to try!) Likewise, while people in the City are welcome to give them tips or instructions, and to know of their whereabouts, they shouldn't be able to physically come down and meet the survivors at this time.]

Hmph. [A rueful smile touches his lips.] I'm used to the company of my thoughts.

[Kanone tilts his head up to see the heavy skies. They hadn't gotten lighter, nor did they clear much. It was hard to tell the time of day. Maybe he wasn't focused enough. A shame.]

We can make it back with little difficulty. [Eyes close, smile fades] It'll take more than that to do us in.

... [ Tyr will never get used to Kanone's shifting between smiles and sombreness. ] Right.

Doing so comfortably is another matter all together, though...

You should abandon the notion of comfort, when traveling. [There really isn't anything to take comfort in, here]

Getting back should be our only focus.

It's easier to focus when you're at least comfortable... [ He was used to staying at inns. ] Are you used to travelling like this?

I'm used to existing on very little means. Traveling like this isn't a new experience. [He sets down the remains of his meal. There was some left, but he had eaten enough to assuage his hunger.]

[ Tyr nods, continuing to pick away at what's left of the rabbit, mostly so none is left behind. ]

It's been a while since I had to travel like this myself... It's not new per se, but...

I think most people would prefer an easy way. [He rubs of some of the blood on the switchblade, before closing it and slipping it back into his pocket.]

[ And that reminds Tyr to pass it back to him, rather nonchalantly wiping the blood on a corner of his shirt before handing it over. ] There's no benefit for making things unnecessarily difficult on yourself...

[Kanone accepted it, with a smile that implied that he wasn't in agreement with Tyr's comment. Of course, the last several minutes of conversation wasn't agreeable to him, altogether. But he didn't like repeating himself. Tyr probably already knows, or can make a pretty good guess, that Kanone couldn't make things easier on himself if he wanted to. Not that it'd make a difference, so why not go the difficult route?]

[ Yeah, Tyr got that Kanone is simply a difficult guy. An annoying guy, even. But Tyr wasn't going to further this. He moving the remains of the rabbit aside, Tyr leaned back. ]

We should get some rest already.

[Settling somewhat comfortably on the log he had been sitting against, Kanone rested his hands on his chest and gave Tyr one last smirk.]

Let's see how well the night treats us, Tyr.

[ Tyr tried to return it, but. No. Kanone's smirks were never particularly nice to Tyr. His face stayed neutral. ]

It'll treat us great. Sleep well, Kanone.
