Thanksgiving at the Warehouse | OPEN LOG
When; Thursday, November 25th
Rating; PG? Just some good, clean, wholesome Thanksgiving fun.
Characters; ! Because you know
primrosella and
horrible_penny went nuts inviting everyone under the sun to this thing, seriously.
Summary; It wouldn't be a proper Thanksgiving without a ridiculously huge dinner, so come on down to the Warehouse and join us for ours! Feel free to label location and time in your threads (before dinner, after dinner, food fight at the dinner table, etc.), and tag around, build some CR, and have fun!
Log;
The tables are set, the silverware polished to a gleam; the room is filled with autumn and harvest-themed decorations, and the air is warm and heavy with the smell of something delicious coming from the kitchen. It's practically a miracle that the hosts have managed to come up with this many chairs and table settings for everyone, but they're expecting quite a bit of company, you see, and they're bound and determined to make sure that every single person that attends feels as welcome as possible.
If you've brought a dish of your own, perhaps you'll want to take it by the kitchen and add it to the mountain of food already there, ready and waiting to be served. Just don't sneak any tastes ahead of time, or you might find yourself with one very displeased princess on your hands!
Or perhaps you'd rather mingle amongst the crowd of people beginning to gather near the tables? There are plenty of things to snack on in the meantime--crackers and cheese, chopped vegetables, and of course, an abundance of soda, punch, and even the occasional bottle of wine.
Dinner is exactly what one might expect from a traditional Thanksgiving--turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes with gravy--but there are plenty of alternative options, too. So fear not, vegetarians! It simply wouldn't do to have anyone feeling left out, after all. And with any luck, a fine time will be had at dinner, since there's certainly more than enough to eat for everyone.
And of course, for dessert, there are treats galore (you can thank Rosella's sweet tooth for that). Try the pumpkin pie, especially; we hear it's delicious.
It's Thanksgiving at the Warehouse! Happy Thanksgiving to all, and to all a good night!

[OOC: Obviously, this is forward-dated to tomorrow evening, but we figured we'd put it up now so everyone can tag in and/or backdate at their leisure, depending on what works best for you! GO NUTS, Y'ALL. ♥]

before dinner;
Besides, Penny will be here! He hasn't gotten to speak to her on more pleasant terms in a long time, and she has been so sad since Chris left. He knows what it's like to lose a lover...so he will come and help her enjoy the party.
Maybe the food will help, but he's not so sure in that department. In his hands is a stack of trays hastily wrapped in foil; he places it on a table and uncovers it to show hot baked turnovers. There are two piles, one labeled "Vegetable" and the other "Meat" in English and Russian. The bread coverings are kind of messy, and some of the turnovers seem a little overdone, and they're certainly nowhere near uniform size or thickness, but all in all it's the best effort he could muster. He flips up the little note card taped to one side of the tray: Pirozhki (Пирожки). Beside the wine on the drinks table, he sets out a bottle of decent champagne and a bottle of the most genuine vodka he could find, for those who want to make a little merry.
He glances around, looking at the visitors, hoping he doesn't put off too many people between the albino colors and the still-healing scar cut across left side of his face, from the base of his eye to the back of his jaw. At least the stitches are gone.
before dinner;
It doesn't take long at all for her to find Sorrow, who does a remarkably good job of standing out in a crowd. As soon as he sets down his trays and bottles, Penny goes in for a hug. It really is good to see Sorrow somewhere that isn't, say, the forest or the hospital.
"You made it!" She sounds cheerfully surprised in spite of the fact that Sorrow had indeed said he would be there. "It's so great to see you, Sorrow!"

So she's coming to this party to see as many people in one places as possible. They're like an ant colony, all the humans, but she's going to immerse herself and see who she can talk to. Besides, it will make her look less "weird" and "antisocial" and maybe then she will have some breathing room to work without people invoking that "evil-AI-taking-over-the-world" trope.
Even if it is true.
She runs a hand through her black hair, pushing it behind her ears, and gives the room a quick sweep of a glance. Her cybernetic implants, visible in snatches of silver through the hair across her neck, are already trying to process all the faces she's seeing. Who are all these people...?

before dinner
In one of his personal talks with Shepard, she made a passing remark about it when they discussed how they would spend various holidays and he'd asked her to elaborate on it, like many of her traditions. Apparently it was a time to spend with family and other loved ones, gathering around to enjoy a large feast.
The turian finds himself wishing she were here, so that he could have his first experience at this holiday with her. Still, there's no harm in going and trying to have a good time, even if most of the food is probably harmful to him. He doesn't really have any coins to bring something, having just got here, so hopefully people won't be bashing him over the head for it.
before dinner
"Hey there," she says brightly, approaching the... whatever he is. "Do you need help finding anything?"

Before Dinner | In The Kitchen | Cooking Up A Storm
Before Dinner | In The Kitchen | Cooking Up A Storm
Compared to her co-conspirator, Penny is a veritable island of calm. This is a wonderfully familiar setting--in the background, dishing up food. Granted, it's considerably better food than soup kitchens tend to dole out on Thanksgiving, but the process is the same and there's a comfort in that. Provided, of course, that Rosella doesn't stress herself out too much.
"Need an extra set of hands, Rosella?"

Now, however, he can't help but feel a slight pang, knowing he won't be spending today with his friend. Still, free food is free food. He's also sneaking in a beer, in case they don't serve any at this thing.
before dinner;
before dinner;
He notices Merry making her rounds and watches awhile while heavy metal blares in his ears. He's not feeling particularly sociable tonight, either--this isn't even his Thanksgiving; he'd already had that last month--but he's there, which is progress, no matter how small. Whether or not Merry notices him, however, depends entirely on just how observant she is at the moment.

He spoke to Mary rarely, but rarely was certainly enough. He paused and offered her a warm grin. "It's nice to see you again, Miss Mary."

Lelouch had told her he was making plans for this day before he left. She tries not to think of it.
Instead she just enjoys the warm atmosphere and the people.
Before dinner
"Hey, Euphie!" The greeting is relatively subdued; Penny isn't sure how Euphie's doing after having family leave, and it seems rude to be too enthusiastic in the face of grief. "It's great to see you... and you look great, too. How're you doing?"

During dinner
Penny doesn't bother sitting while the food makes it way around the tables and onto plates, choosing instead to flit from table to table and make sure everyone gets, at the very least, a 'hello.'
after dinner; open to all
He was an unusual
manboy, and he'd realized a long time ago that the best way to avoid attracting attention for that was to be helpful, friendly, and useful. People questioned the sullen, quiet, strange people. They didn't question the cheerful, useful, strange people, because they liked them. And since he actually liked being kind and offering aid, this strategy worked out very well for him.Right now he'd decided that the way to be helpful and also meet people was to walk around and ask people what they wanted for dessert. He had a little notebook for taking down orders and was bringing them out about five at a time.
It was a great excuse to make the acquaintance of all kinds of people. He might even be at your elbow right now - a dark-haired boy of about twelve, wearing glasses and a bright smile.
[ ooc; I will be in and out due to holiday but am perfectly willing to backdate for ages! ]
after dinner; open to all
Because the second most important thing about Thanksgiving--second to family and friends--is eating good food.

because he couldn't find Party 7but it's not necessarily a very GOOD one because he doesn't really understand wine. But he didn't want to come to a massive dinner thing and bring NOTHING.He edges his way through the crowd to put his bottle on the table and then stands a bit awkwardly beside it, trying to look unobstrusive and looking more like a plainclothes copper failing at being undercover. He's never been to a dinner party before. The friends he makes usually aren't the sorts to throw them. Dinner parties are for poshos. And, naturally, Christmas with his family doesn't count. This does. There are things on the tables that aren't food and are apparently just there for the sake of decoration. Or maybe you're MEANT to eat the corn. He doesn't know. It's making Chris kind of uncomfortable and he can't even smoke to calm his nerves.
He ends up gradually eating his way through the entire broccoli segment of a plate of vegetables instead and scanning the party for someone that he knows.
Before Dinner
"Are you having fun yet, Chris?" she asks as she approaches him, straightening one of the (purely decorative) corn centerpieces.

Before dinner (but not by much!)
He had, for some reason, managed to miss the news of the big Thanksgiving party, and by the time he learned of it, he had to go home, get ready, and go back out...all of which is a bit tough to do when you've got a broken foot. But he's determined to show up and have a good time. After all, Thanksgiving only comes once a year, and he's got plenty to be thankful for this year.
As soon as he gets there, carrying 2 boxes of cupcakes he bought at the store, he makes a beeline to Penny. She's always nice.
"Penny!! Happy Thanksgiving...I hope I'm not too late...brought cupcakes!!"
He grins and tries to wave, but with one arm filled with cupcake boxes, and the other using the crutch, its sort of tough.
Before dinner (but not by much!)
Penny sets the cupcakes next to a variety of other desserts (if Hanna is particularly observant, he might notice the cake that has "Happy Birthday, Hanna!" written on it in red icing) and pulls a tiny wrapped package out of her sweater pocket. "So I heard that today's your twenty-fifth birthday."
