Characters; Jack Harkness(
sometimes_boe ) and everyone!
Summary; Who is this gorgeous man wandering City streets?
Log;
Waking up in an unknown city was usually the sign of a good night, however, this time, Jack knows it's not a good sign, especially when his night hadn't been anything special enough to land him in a place he didn't know.
He looked around, trying to see if he recognized anything, but nothing stood out. Except for the carousel and fountain and not because they were familiar, but because, honestly, who kept carousels in town anymore, unless you were in a mall?
Jack pressed the blue-tooth set at his ear and checked his vortex manipulator for readings of the area.
"Gwen, Ianto, are you there?"
Of course, no response, that'd be too easy.

"The Cephirian system...it sounds familiar...but only in that 'in passing' sense. Maybe it was brought up in one of my classes back in the academy, that was a long time ago."
Jack checked his manipulator again and, sure enough, the smallest of blips told him the interference was coming from something surrounding the area, something large but nearly undetectable. "Sounds like you're pretty set on getting out of here, don't blame you, I don't intend on staying trapped here forever."
Not when he had people he needed to get back to.
"Well, space ships mainly, although, I've also led a number of troops in a number of wars, so that's were the title comes as well. What about you?"

Very, very impressive!
As Jack checked the device on his wrist Eagle decided to will the much larger device he wore on his right arm to run a little scan. Not of the barrier though, that object was entirely visible to him, but of his new companion and his tech. Kind of an Autozam right of passage, Eagle usually scans everyone he meets. It is harmless of course and unnoticeable unless of course a certain device Jack has is able to detect scans and warn it’s owner of the intrusion.
“I have something important I have to do back on Cephiro.” Confirmation that he had very little desire to remain trapped in this City but vague enough to not have to get into too many details about it. People rarely understood the need for an invasion.
“I Command the NSX, a space warship,” Said so gently and with such a friendly smile one almost wonders how such a soft spoken person could command anything… let alone a warship. “It is the flagship of our fleet.”

Jack's sensor told him of the scan. He finished his own and flipped the device closed before turning to face the commander, a sly grin on his face. "Like what you see?"
He decided he wouldn't prod about what Eagle had to do, if there was one thing Jack understood, it was secrets.
"A space warship, and the flagship at that, highly impressive, Commander."

Once the initial shock of getting caught had worn off Eagle chuckled, slightly embarrassed.
“It really isn’t that invasive,” Not that Jack seemed shy about it, it was just polite to reassure him anyway. And why not… “Not that I would need a scan to notice you were attractive.”
Then right back to business as if the comment had never been made at all to offer something of a warning.
“I was more interested in your technology. I’m afraid I am always looking for ways to leave this City.”

"Well, I'll be honest with you. This is also a teleport device, among other things, but it's busted. A friend of mine saw to it that I couldn't use it like that anymore. Although, if we were able to fix it, there's a chance it could work again."
no subject
“A teleport device, something like that actually exists?” The astonishment is short lived, “I wonder if that could make it past the barrier… When it is working what kind of range does it have?”
Getting past the barrier wouldn’t be enough after all. That device would have to be powerful enough to send them to another world.
“Why would a friend disable such a useful feature?” And perhaps most importantly of all, “Do you know how it could be repaired?”
Yes, there are a lot of questions. Eagle had just decided that the only way to leave this City would be to open a portal of some kind… and if teleportation could do something like that. It would give him a chance to accomplish his goal!

Jack considered his answer carefully.
"Well, he disabled it because he didn't want me teleporting around time and space; he's under the impression I cause too much trouble. As for fixing it, unfortunately, I don't know. It burned out once and stayed that way for 200 years, then that same friend fixed it and later disabled it again."
He was kind of hoping Eagle wouldn't notice that '200 year' slip. Jack hadn't meant to bring up his immortality, well, at all, if he could help it. How do you explain something like being a fact in space and time to a complete stranger?

Unfortunately for Jack… the date slips were immediately seized on. Eagle was a bit too observant to miss something quite that openly stated. There had been two very interesting comments in those sentences. That the device Jack had could travel through space and time?? Time travel? It was theoretically possible but, could that really happen?
And of course the 200 year gap. Did that mean the device itself was 200 years old… or that also Jack was? Since Eagle knew at least one person far older than that, if Jack really was 200 years old it didn’t seem so unusual. Maybe he was like the people from Cephiro, able to control how old they looked just by the power of his will. At least the possibility of immortality never crossed his mind.
“That device has been with you for 200 years? And when it is working it can travel through time?” A pause to look down at the device in question. “There should be some way to fix it.”
Questions lead to more questions for the curious natured and Eagle realizes he must have been asking a lot of them.
“I’m sorry I am bombarding you with questions. You must have a lot of your own. Don‘t let my inquisitiveness prevent you from asking.”
[OOC: I sense a potential plot here. ^,^]

Jack thought for a moment, considering what he could ask next, his main question, the one he was most concerned with, had already been answered.
"I guess the only question I really have left is what do you do when you're not trying to escape the city?"
[ooc: I think you're right, definite future stuff here.]

Eagle had been expecting some typical City question not one directed at him personally. But, Jack had been good enough to answer every question posed to him, so Eagle didn’t really mind answering.
“That depends on the day,” It wasn’t much of an answer but one never really knew what they would be doing from one day to the next here. “Lately, fighting monsters…”
no subject
Jack almost perked up at this; finally something he felt more in his element about.
"Fighting monsters? That I can do."
no subject
Unfortunately Eagle hasn’t met anyone like that… at least not that he can think of.
“The harpies as they were called have been for the most part defeated, but this City is still acting strangely. You should be very careful.”
Some how Eagle didn’t have any trouble imagining that Jack would be able to look after himself. He seemed fully capable of doing just that.

It was better than doing nothing at least.
"I have a feeling there's a lot about this city that's strange, I'll keep my guard up."
