Summary; Suki and Katara bond over missing Sokka.
Log; Suki had been doing well. Not having Sokka around was hard, but she was slowly getting over the fact that he wasn't here. Some days were easier than others, but today wasn't that day. Suki found herself once again in Sokka's room, sitting on the edge of his bed. She didn't do anything as she sat there, no tears, no words. All she did was sit there, feeling alone in this place.

It was weird, since Suki wasn't alone. She had been meeting new people and making friends, but none of them were Sokka. Sokka held a different place in her heart, and though he was safe and at home, she couldn't help but feel like there was a hole in her heart where he was supposed to be. Everyday she told herself it was okay and that he was safe, and it worked, usually. Suki reached over and grabbed a pillow, hugging it. Things were going to be alright, but right now, she just needed and wanted to miss Sokka.

[Katara was doing her usual chores inside the apartment. In fact, she was just about to do the dishes when she passed by Sokka's room. It was open and she knew why when she peeked inside. Seeing Suki like that was heartbreaking.]

... Suki? [Her voice was soft and filled with obvious concern.]

[Hearing Katara's voice wasn't a surprise at all. Suki looked up at her friend with a smile on her face. The smile wasn't a happy one though, it was a sad one. There was no point of hiding her feelings from Katara.]

Hey. [Suki placed the pillow down and stood up.] Did you need help with the chores?

No, it's fine. [The chores can wait. This is far more important.] How are you holding up?

[She looked back at the bed.] Holding...

Oh, Suki... [Katara approaches her and sits beside her on the bed. The tone of her voice gives away everything.] It's alright for you to miss him.

[No words came from Suki for awhile, but she finally sighed.] I miss him...

[Placing a hand on her shoulder, she gives it a soft squeeze.] We all do... He's definitely not hard to miss. I know it must be very difficult for you. [She can't fathom the idea of losing someone you care for in that way just like that.]

I have better days. [She forces a smile.] I just have to remind myself that he's home now. I guess it's a little selfish of me to wish I could see him again.

No, it's not. [And she offers Suki a gentle smile.] It shows just how much you love him. If there's one thing I learned in this place, it's that you shouldn't deprive yourself of wanting to see people close to you. It might be selfish, but we're all just human.

[Her cheeks turn a soft pink.] Thank you Katara. I didn't realize how much he meant to me until now, until he was gone. Part of me wishes I spent more time with him, but how was I supposed to know he was going to leave? [She chuckles softly, trying to laugh instead of cry.] I should stop beating myself up over things I can't control.

Well, as the saying goes: You won't know someone's worth unless that person is gone. [She tries to make her smile wider, but to no avail.] But, you're right. We should try and accept that these things happen.

[She nodded.] And for some reason, today... I kinda don't want to.

It's alright. [She might be pulling you into a hug now, Suki.] I understand. He means so much to us all that there are days, like today, that we just miss him without meaning to. [Katara will fight the way her voice is starting to break. No, she'll be strong for all of them.]

[Suki hugged Katara back.] I'm sorry Katara... I didn't mean to upset you.

No, you didn't. [She tightens the hug.] You don't have to apologize.

I'm happy you where here for him, Katara.

Hey, that's what sisters are for. [And she'll extend the same courtesy to you, Suki.]

[Suki is SUPER flattered right now.] You really consider me like a sister?

Well, you're with my brother, so... [She blinks. Did she say something wrong?] Is there any reason why I shouldn't?

No... I'm just... [At a lost of words?] happy that you think of me like that. I guess we became our own little family, didn't we?

Of course... [Katara's almost at a loss of words too.] I already consider you a part of our family, Suki.

[Tears all around then?] Thank you Katara. All of you are so important to me. Because of you guys, I don't think I'd be in the place I am today.

[Master tearbenders!] I'm glad... That's really nice of you to say. I don't think we'll be here without your help, too.

You know, even if Sokka and I weren't together... I'm happy to have all of you in my life.

I feel the same way. Having you as a friend is already great. Having you as a sister is better.

I think I can live with the whole sister thing. I'm sure Sokka would agree too.

And I'm sure he'll also agree on us smiling a bit more even if he's gone.

[She bowed her head.] I'll try...

I'm sure you will. [Which was said with much sincerity.] Now, come on, I think lunch's ready.

Right. I really shouldn't stay in here all day anyway.
