Summary; sleepovers, popcorn, teen girls talking about teen boys IDK
Log;
[Mizuno thought about sending a message, but she'd been staring at her device for too long, at the letter she'd sent to Marino- a letter a part of her knew would never reach it's destination, but she pretended it would anyway.
There'd been a lot of things, lately. That a part of her knew. She just had to lock that part away. Never make eye contact. Never speak to her. Never acknowledge her.
Better that some things were forgotten.
She's always been good at that.
So when the bright haired girl shows up at Vriska's apartment a bit late in the evening and knocks, said bright hair still damp after her bath, a very oddly shaped bag thrown over her shoulder and... for all appearances, wearing her pajamas...
She was smiling.]

There'd been a lot of things, lately. That a part of her knew. She just had to lock that part away. Never make eye contact. Never speak to her. Never acknowledge her.

She's always been good at that.
So when the bright haired girl shows up at Vriska's apartment a bit late in the evening and knocks, said bright hair still damp after her bath, a very oddly shaped bag thrown over her shoulder and... for all appearances, wearing her pajamas...
She was smiling.]
no subject
She cocks her head to the side, grinning despite not knowing what's going on. Maybe Mizuno needed her for something- well, she'd figure out soon enough.]
Shouldn't humans be sleeping right now?? Juuuuuuuust when I think I have you guys figured out, you change it up!
no subject
[Okay, so you usually say that before bed, but... it's not really "evening" anymore and it's definitely night, so it seems more appropriate somehow.]
I'm wide awake, so I thought I'd say "hello"!
[But she lowers her voice a bit, in case other people are sleeping.]
Is now an okay time?
no subject
She shrugs, stepping out of the way to let Mizuno in.]
Sure is! It's not like I'm going to sleep or anything - being nocturnal is kind of a thing for trolls.
Did you need something?
no subject
[Company. Someone to talk to when she couldn't just roll over in bed and see Marino's face, so like her own, staring back at her and listening, always telling her exactly what she needed to hear.]
But I was wondering if...
[Stepped in with a grateful smile, but then rocked nervously back and forth on her heels. She might say "no"-]
You wanted to have a sleepover?
no subject
[Still, she can't complain that someone wants to spend time with her. When the rest of her friends want pretty much nothing to do with her, she's sort of grateful to the humans who don't know what she's done. Or accept her even knowing it. John, Luke, Mizuno- maybe it's a little comforting having them around. Maybe it's a little boost to her confidence and ego and makes her failures not seem so grand.]
Well, I guess I don't mind! We can watch a movie. Or do whatever humans do at sleepovers.
no subject
[Never mind that... that's because Marino and Mizuno share a room. Semantics.]
I brought some stuff I found-
[... that's a rather odd bag, Mizuno. That she begins rustling though, small bags of snacks make an appearance, a movie or two, a pillow, what maaay be a stuffed animal...]
Oh! Did you like the movie?
[Remembered: Pirates of the Caribbean!]
no subject
Not by the fact that she doesn't remember a single thing about that movie except there were pirates in it, and she only knew that from common sense. She'd spent the entire movie distracted by one (1) John Egbert. And it had basically been the best day of her life.
But she can't say that, it's just embarrassing. So Vriska does was Vriska does best. Lies about it.]
It wasn't anything great! My ancestor was definitely better than any of those pirates. In fact, I'm preeeeeeeetty sure I fell asleep during it.
Anyway! Enough about that, what movies did you bring over??
no subject
It must be really cool to have a pirate as your great-great-great-grandmother.
[That was probably enough "Greats" to cover things. At the question, though, Mizuno started pulling movies out of her bag, mumbling after each title.]
Pirates of the Caribbean 2- in case you liked the first one
Treasure Island more pirates
Hana and Alice this one might be a little girly
National Treasure there's action and exploring-
[How many movies did she shove in that bag????]
no subject
[Oh Mizuno, you know the way to this troll girl's heart. She turns at the mention of National Treasure, suddenly less embarrassed and more enthusiastic.]
National Treasure is a Nic Cage movie, right?
no subject
Nic Cage, Nic Cage-
[She's not so good with American actors, (or even Japanese ones, honestly), so Mizuno goes to check the back of the case.]
Yup- Nicholas Cage!
[She points to who she assumes is Nicholas Cage on the cover. She probably would have got it wrong but thankfully he's... the only one on the cover so. 100% Accuracy is assured.]
Do you like his movies?
no subject
shrinecollection - two shelves filled with his movies with an old VHS copy of Con Air carefully sealed and framed sitting atop the bookshelf. It's not at all a little creepy.]Iffffffff I had to pick a favorite human actor, I guess I'd pick him. For a human, he has natural talent.
[So what if she had a matesprit now, she could still have a crush on this ruggedly handsome gentleman. Besides, she was 95% sure John had a crush on him too, so it evened out anyway.]
no subject
And hey. She draws girly pictures of herself kissing her crush she can't say anything. It's cool, brosis.]
I don't know if I've ever seen one of his movies before... Southern Cross only had one theater and it didn't have a lot of foreign films...
[Realized she was about to just go on and on, so instead she smiled, holding up the National Treasure box.]
So we should watch this one, right? I brought popcorn, too.
no subject
I'll go make the popcorn while you put the movie in.
no subject
[Mizuno has gotten used to Vriska's way of talking that the phrases she uses, (thinkpan, hives, wrigglers, such as that), just registers in her brain without the need to translate, and she moves to prepare the movie, tongue sticking out of her mouth just a little in concentration.
But... once she flops down on the couch to wait for the popcorn, and more importantly, company- She ends up with a pillow nervously in her lap, rolling this way and that before she decides-
She's going to ask. Vriska is a girl, too! So when Vriska comes back in... Mizuno shyly peeks over the top of the pillow.]
Hey, Vriska?
no subject
She sits next to Mizuno, brow arching.]
Yeah? What is it?
no subject
If... you kiss someone... but you didn't mean to...
Does it count as a real kiss, do you think?
no subject
What, did you just kiss someone on accident or something??
no subject
[Fingers... so interesting...]
... I kissed a sea troll prince.
no subject
One of disgust.]
Oh my god, you kissed Ampora??
no subject
It was that day where everyone was kissing each other and I asked him some questions and then I kissed him, but I don't really know why, because I don't like him like him, but-
[BREATHE, GIRL.]
no subject
No no no no no no no no. That's a dumb curse kiss and doesn't count! And you should proooooooobably stay away from him, if you know what's good for you.
no subject
[There's something so relieving about your friend agreeing with you, it makes it easier to believe. If Vriska agreed- it probably didn't count. So- no worries. She could still have a special first kiss and it would be great.
Just great.]
... I invited him to the next beach party.
[Blink. He'd seemed... a little awkward, a little... quick to judge, but. Everyone had flaws.]
no subject
[Hypocritical? Yeah, so what.]
no subject
Until she remembers that she didn't remember that.]
He seemed kind of lonely, so...
[Two people have said it, that he's not a nice person. So she'll be careful, because... despite how she acts, Mizuno isn't stupid. She just tries... very, very hard not to be aware of certain things. But. He'd looked kind of sad to her.]
A- Anyway.
[She almost throws the pillow up in the air in her haste.]
Vriska is the one with a boyfriend!
[Look at that, Mizuno actually read the other comments on John's entry and found out, HAH. Distraction!]
no subject
He's alone for a reason, and that's all there really is to say on the matter.
[And then Mizuno mentions the boyfriend thing, and Vriska has to try hard not to light up cerulean.]
Yeah, I guess so! It's not really a big deal or anything.
no subject
It's totally a big deal!
[See? She just said so, smiling ear to ear and leaning Vriska's direction, almost wriggling in excitement.]
Sooooooo? How did it happen!?
no subject
We kissed the other day too. I guess the first one was caused by a curse or something, but... The rest definitely weren't.
no subject
You kissed more than once??
[That's practically like. Fifth date stuff!]
no subject
We kind of made out for a while.
no subject
[Mizuno is covering her mouth... and most of her pink colored face... with her hands and that pillow now, peeking over it at Vriska. But this kind of thing- she knew how it felt.]
Did you have a crush on him for a long time?
no subject
She shrugs, attempting to look nonchalant about the whole thing.]
For a few months now, I suppose. I was waiting for him to notice but he never did- he's so oblivious!
no subject
She presses her face fully in to the pillow and seems to have... a small fit, wriggling around in excitement a moment, before she finally has to pull it off to take a breath.]
Takuto is like that, too- all the nice boys are!
[Didn't even notice that... obviously Vriska didn't know who Takuto was, stars practically in her eyes.]
no subject
She leans close, cocking her head to the side.]
Who is that? Someone you're flushed for??
no subject
Takuto is a hero- I mean-
I like him, but-
He's handsome, and kind, and-
no subject
John's a hero too, but what does that have to do with it?
Look, Mizuno, you can't wait around forever. If he's half as oblivious as Egbert was, he'll never notice.
no subject
[She actually seemed to sober up a bit, suddenly, hanging her head a bit, voice down to a self-conscious mumble and smile to something almost nervous.]
Takuto... is so popular. I know other girls like him- ones that aren't... weird. And who are pretty. And smart.
And Marino...
[In front of most, especially Marino, she maintained quite a positive outlook- things would go well, she would confess, and Takuto would surely-
But even someone as positive as Mizuno, (as good at denial as Mizuno)... part of her knew it might only stay a crush, no matter how much she wanted otherwise.]
no subject
[This is not the way to comfort, Vriska.]
But whatever, you can't let that stop you. You have to be the best. Would you really settle for anything less? That's just dumb.
no subject
[She pretended like it didn't hurt, because... otherwise it would.]
- I want to tell him. I'm going to, but... now that I'm here, and Marino isn't...
[But she's afraid. Just a little.]
Maybe Takuto will like Marino.
no subject
[She pulls her legs up on the couch, leaning back and frowning. The mere idea of John ending up with someone else made her blood boil with jealousy.]
I wouldn't let anyone else have John.
no subject
[She can find a good point in anything, can't she, still smiling a bit self-consciously, having never truly seriously thought about that outcome- because it made her feel...
Weird. Made her feel like... she might... be angry at Marino.]
She's most like me, so- if Takuto were to like someone not me... it would be best for it to be Marino. She's pretty, and smart, and popular, too, so...
[... they'd make a good match?]
no subject
No one ever gets anything by just sitting around being afraid of what ifs and crap that might not even happen.
no subject
[It seemed like... a rather weird concept for her. She was used to persevering! But fighting...]
Like... "hang in there"?
