Log;There's something a little different about Time Bomb today--okay, a lot different. For one thing, they're wearing matching dinner jackets instead of their usual assortment of weirdness and there's no long har or scruffy bearts. Curt Wild is in a tie and his band is now called The Clocks, playing songs with much cleaner lyrics and presenting a public image with just exactly the right hint of rebellion to appeal to the middle-class teens without completely scaring off their parents. But they'll still be getting drunk with you after the show as long as you're not some little bobby soxer--and when neither their manager nor the press is looking, who knows what they'll get up to. They're still a rock band, after all.

So unless you're a cube, come on out and go ape for the latest craze

Pre-Show Band Shenanigans

Being a musician involves an unfortunate amount of waiting around for something to happen. Curt doesn't exactly get nervous--he's been performing for year, in a lot of bands, and they've rehearsed thoroughly--but he does get a little keyed up and this tends to manifest itself in silly backstage pranks and some fussing over his threads. He picks out a bit of his blues song on his guitar, but looses interest quickly and just sighs.

[It's nice that someone in the band can enjoy the not-nervous feeling. A oddly clean-shaven Stephen Stills is pacing up and down the far side of the room, occasionally muttering to himself. He's actually doing pretty well today, given that he's be known to throw up before shows.]

Everybody knows the set list, right? Because if someone starts playing the wrong song that BOOM, the whole concert's gone downhill.

[Curt idly folds a copy of the set list into a paper airplane and launches it at Stephen's head.]

[Stephen swats at it and glares back in Curt's direction. So not funny, man.]

I don't know if our sound check really went that well, either. The levels are probably going to be off all night.

Even if they are, who's going to be able to tell over all the shrieking?

See, you're just assuming there's going to be shrieking! This is a new town, maybe no one will like us here!

I checked out the town earlier, it's not like there's that much else going on.

You sure?

[They do tend to get good dancers in the boring towns...]

We're completely ready for this, and you always worry, and it's always fine.

[Curt walks up to him and flicks him on the forehead.]

Cool it, we'll be great.

[totallyinaband]

[Stephen rubs his forehead and glares at Curt, but there's not too much venom there. You sure are lucky he likes you...]

How much longer until we go on?

Twenty minutes, I think. Assuming we're running on time. I've got a flask full of gin in my pocket if you need any.

[totallyinaband]

[Stephen seriously considers it for a few seconds before shaking his head.]

I'll be fine. I'm fairly sure, anyway.

Do you want to go outside for a smoke?

[totallyinaband]

Sure, why not. I could probably use it.

[Curt's idea of 'outside' is apparently 'on the fire escape.' He pushes aside the curtain, clambers out the window and takes out a box of Lucky Strikes.]

[This is the 1950s. It's lucky they decide to go outside at all. Stephen takes a cigarette and collapses against the metal rails.]

Next time we should demand a balcony as part of our rider.

[thewildone]

[Yeah, because Curt's motivation was totally keeping smoke out of the room. Uh, huh. Curt moves closer to Stephen to offer him a light and doesn't really move away.]

I'm sure that'll go over well.

[totallyinaband]

[Stephen lights his cigarette and takes a long, appreciative drag. He glances at Curt and cracks the very smallest of smiles. He sees what you're doing there.]

Aren't we supposed to be crazy, anyway? It's part of this whole new rock'n'roll thing.

You learn to move like Elvis, then maybe we'll talk.

[Curt grins and bumps his hip into Stephen's.]

[totallyinaband]

Yeah. Likely.

[Stephen bumps back. Then he scoots in a little more so that they're shoulder to shoulder. A little bit of human contact helps calm him down sometimes.]

Hanna waves at Stephen, his friend. He's a music geek, but he's okay. And he plays good.

"Hey. Good show tonight."

"Oh hey, man. Was it? Good. Good."

Stephen always has a few days of short term memory loss before his brain actually lets him remember what was going on during the actual show.

"Yeah, it was really swell! You guys are really good."

He grins and nods at his friend, in a very un-greaser like manner.

"Thanks. I was a bit worried about the levels in here. You heard everything alright?"

"Yeah, everything sounded just fine. It sounded good to me, but I'm no music person..."

Hanna just shrugs.

"Good set, though."
