log | ongoing
When; March 9th, 2012
Rating; PG
Characters; Olivia Dunham (
entangles ) and Billy Kaplan (
inmyothertights )
Summary; Rescue mission, go!
Log;
Olivia had known all along that crossing over would be a shot in the dark. Billy had told her about an invisible wall. The Doctor had warned her that the city was not simply a single dimension, but a world comprised of layers. A prudent person would have thus taken their advice and stopped at the idea, but Olivia Dunham is notoriously impatient, and when she wants something, no force can hinder her. Warnings aside, crossing over had seemingly gone as smoothly as these things can go. The familiar pull, her heart at a hundred beats a minute, and then suddenly, the cool water of the tank replaced by hard pavement and drifting fog. She had fallen hard onto the ground and proceeded to seize on arrival.
After the seizures had passed, Olivia had come to realization that she was still high. To be stuck in the shadow lands was bad enough, but being stuck while tripping on LSD had been a nightmare. But even this couldn't deter her from pulling herself up, and walking (more like, stumbling) through the dark and the fog to find some sign that would tell her where she was.
When Billy arrives in the Shadowlands, he'll find Olivia Dunham crouched beside the fountain with a gun locked in her grip. This version of the city, like a film negative, had proved to be, well, a little smoke mirrors in terms of danger. But safety for Olivia is at least to have a weapon at her disposal, so when Billy appears, he'll also find a gun trained at his face.

But this teleporting is funny, because it's not quite teleporting. It was more like sliding sideways through a shadow made of jelly; he can feel the residue stick to his magic. It's kind of gross, actually. The shadow of the City is dark and not really pleasant, like a film negative.
He finally manages, though, appearing in front of Olivia with a crackle of ozone and a pant of breath. "Geez you would think they would make this ea-" he begins, but then sees the gun in his face. His hands fling up in the air - smooth, Kaplan - he manages to think.
"Uh. Hi Olivia."

"Billy," she takes another breath, "Sorry. You surprised me."
She pushes herself off the ground, ready to leave as soon as Billy's ready to handle another crossing over. It's been an adventure, sure, but Olivia would rather be back in the City than stuck in between. And besides, there's something noxious about this place. For all the fog and darkness, there hadn't been the threat imminent danger, but something in the pit of her stomach is telling her that she needs to get out of here as soon as possible.
"Let's go back."

He takes a moment to look her over. "Sorry about the surprise visit. Are you okay?"
She's welcome to comment on his wardrobe - skintight latex uniform and billowing red cape, and head protector.

"I'm fine," she replies, "And don't apologize. You're the one rescuing me."
Still standing, she's relaxed her posture enough to show Billy that she can wait, impatient as she is.
"Whenever you're ready. Though, I have a feeling we should get out of here as soon as we can."

"So, how did you even get here? I couldn't find this place the first six spells I tried. I finally had to do this slip sideways thing that was really disconcertingly strange." Billy talks with his hands, too, fingers flying in the air.

"Frankly, I don't know," she lies, then hesitates. It feels wrong to talk openly about her abilities, but this is Billy she's talking to - a friend of Walter and a real-life Harry Potter. "I've never managed to cross out of this dimension. Not until today."
