Spring Festival [OPEN TO ALL!]

When; Friday, April 6 2012, afternoon into night
Rating; Various! Warn if you need to on individual threads.
Characters; EVERYONE EVER!
Summary; Spring festival
Log;

Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

(OOC: As mentioned here please feel free to have your character/business set up a booth or stand or to be performing under the appropriate headings! They can be doing if for money, free, or charity. General Mingle | Booths: Games/Merchandise | Food Stands | Entertainment/Street Performers | Dance)

[ Spending time with Chekov has perhaps become one of Tessa's favourite pasttimes, far more pleasant certainly than taking walks on her own and possibly even more valued than time alone in the library, curled up with a book in her lap. So of course she was more than happy to accept his invitation, and she's currently by his side, a little wide-eyed but smiling as she takes in all the booths, the music and the people and the whole atmosphere of the place. ]

It's very pretty.

[That's fortunate, as Chekov rather likes spending time with Tessa.]

Is it? [His tone is light and teasing.] I was too busy paying attention to you to notice.

[ She's turning, skirts swirling with it, and there's a bit of a blush there, but mostly she's just smiling. ] I do not believe that. You would have ran into something.
candothat: (Smile: Whatcha gonna do)

[At least she has learned not to take him too seriously.] I am a navigator. I do not need to pay attention to avoid running into things.

[personal profile] likeboudica 2012-04-08 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
[ She's learning. And also sliding a hand into his, a little shy about it still. They're in public— but it's allowed here. ] Is that so? It seems a very useful talent.

[Chekov will make up for Tessa's shyness by not thinking twice about holding hands in public.] It is, and if that skill fails me, I'm sure that you will tell me if I am about to run into something.

[personal profile] likeboudica 2012-04-08 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
But what if I were also paying attention to you? [ Saying it lightly means she doesn't have to worry about how inappropriate it may well be to say such things. In public, no less. ]

Then we will hope, for both of our sakes, that I am an exceptional navigator. [No one minds. It's the twenty-first century!]

[personal profile] likeboudica 2012-04-08 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
[ So she tells the litle voice that brings up the term inappropriate regularly. ] Or perhaps we should instead pay some attention to where we are going.
candothat: (Smile: Pleased)

[personal profile] candothat 2012-04-08 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
That's far too simple. [He gives her hand a squeeze.]

[personal profile] likeboudica 2012-04-08 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
I would prefer to call it practical. [ Squeezing back, their fingers tangling. ]
candothat: (Smile: Lopsided)

[personal profile] candothat 2012-04-08 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
If you insist on practicality, then I will watch where I am going. [Which he has been doing, although he had considered walking directly into something for comedic effect.]

Are there outdoor festivals where you are from?

[personal profile] likeboudica 2012-04-08 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
There are. Regular markets, for one, but also festivals like this. [ A beat. ] Though I have never visited them, myself. [ There was never enough money, no one to accompany her, and in the end it had seemed easier to content herself simply with books in her room rather than outdoor festivals. ]

Surely they still have them in your time as well?
candothat: (A good officer)

[personal profile] candothat 2012-04-09 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Never? [Surprise turns into a smile.] They exist at home, yes, but I do not go to them, either. It's lucky for both of us that the City has them.

[personal profile] likeboudica 2012-04-09 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I have been to the markets, but not the festivals.

[ She can't not smile back. ] It is. I think I rather like them. There is so much to see.
candothat: (Smile: Whatcha gonna do)

Not too much? If you would rather spend the rest of the day in the library...
