Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

[ McCoy has found some sweet tea and vanilla ice cream with peaches. He has, quite possibly, never looked as pleased about anything in the City than he does right now. ]

[ When Tessa spots him, she immediately makes her way over, eyes almost as wide as her smile. ] Len—!

[mintjulep]

[ There's a chuckle around a spoonful of ice cream as he beckons her closer. ] Tess. Enjoyin' the party?

[likeboudica]

[ She's happy to come closer, smiling openly. She hasn't been as happy in a long time as she's been in the last few days. ] I am. It's all very lovely, is it not?

[mintjulep]

It is. They've got some good food, too. [ There's another bite of ice cream. Peaches, yum. ] Had any yet?

[likeboudica]

I had a snack earlier. [ Peering at his spoon. ] But no ice cream.

[mintjulep]

[ Well, that has to change. ] You like peaches?

[likeboudica]

[ She certainly wouldn't mind it changing. ] I do. Though I have not often had them.

[mintjulep]

Here. [ His spoon goes to get a generous helping of ice cream with peaches on it, and then he offers it to her. It's hardly sanitary, but at the moment he doesn't care. ]

[likeboudica]

[ It is McCoy, and that is the only reason why, without even thinking twice, instead of taking the spoon from him, she steps closer and licks the ice cream directly off the spoon. ]

[mintjulep]

[ Well, that's surprising -- she's comfortable with him and he knows it, but it always surprises him to know just how comfortable. There are more important things at the moment, though, such as-- ]

[ She trusts him. ]

It is very nice.

[ He's pleased. ]

They've got other fruit you can put in, too. Good stuff.

I have not had ice cream very often.

[mintjulep]

Well, too much isn't good for you, but it's nice once in a while.

It seems to be another thing that makes you less grumpy, as well. Like coffee.

[mintjulep]

[ He chuckles. ] Only the good stuff, and then only with passable peaches.

[likeboudica]

Is it something from your home?

[mintjulep]

Nowhere has peaches like Georgia has peaches.

[likeboudica]

Do you miss it?

[mintjulep]

Georgia?

[ There's a bit of a shift. ]

[Elijah hasn't been wandering around the food stands for long, but it doesn't take long for McCoy to catch his eye. Or, well, not nearly so much McCoy as the foodstuffs he's so pleased over.]

Is that sweet tea you got there?

[mintjulep]

It is.

[ Sweet tea and peaches apparently make his accent come out just as readily as alcohol, and McCoy takes another sip. ]

It's good, too.

[feycarved]

[Elijah wasn't expecting the accent, and for a moment it shows; if anything, though, the familiarity of it only makes him inclined to be friendlier than he would be otherwise.]

Sure looks that way. Where'd you find it?

There's a stand thataway.

[ A nod in the correct direction. ]

Sort of tucked out of the way, but it's worth it.
