Spring Festival [OPEN TO ALL!]

When; Friday, April 6 2012, afternoon into night
Rating; Various! Warn if you need to on individual threads.
Characters; EVERYONE EVER!
Summary; Spring festival
Log;

Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

(OOC: As mentioned here please feel free to have your character/business set up a booth or stand or to be performing under the appropriate headings! They can be doing if for money, free, or charity. General Mingle | Booths: Games/Merchandise | Food Stands | Entertainment/Street Performers | Dance)

[The smallest of shrugs and, surrounded and almost drowned by the barker's perpetual patter, he goes to choose which of the guns (nearer to toys) might work best for him.

He takes this decision seriously. If you really want to know, some of the barrels are, in fact, curved--but not by much. More like they're just badly made toys. So it's rigged, but maybe not purposefully.

But, still, after due consideration, he chooses one...and set himself up...

If he can shoot down a noose from more than a short distance, this shouldn't be too difficult.

But that's no reason to take it too lightly. After all, his reputation is on the line here...]

[ Ariadne is an attentive audience, though she's careful not to hover. Still, he can likely feel the way her eyes watch him as he makes his decision and sets himself up.

There's a bit of a shift to his side as she shifts closer to get a better look. If he's going to do it, she wants to see the targets go down. ]

[He casts a sidelong glance in her direct when she slides in closer. Seems she really wants to see this...

The bell rings--

--and no sooner has it but those painted cut-outs of ducks and deer and dragons and men in black hats with drooping mustaches start popping out of nowhere...and falling back down again.

Maybe it's not fair to let him play this game. But he hasn't had a chance to show off for a while. Feels pretty good.]

[ She's quiet while he shoots, though her eyes are wide and she's grinning. Ariadne just doesn't want to distract him.

Oh yes, this was a good idea. ]
withloadedguns: (Such ingratitude)

[personal profile] withloadedguns 2012-04-08 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
[Spoiler alert: he hit 'em all.

He'd twirl the gun, but it's not really the best for twirling. He'll just stand it like a staff on the edge of the booth and give a look to the man who's running the thing.]
boutant: ([smile] cool)

[personal profile] boutant 2012-04-08 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Very nice.

[ She'd applaud, but it's a little dramatic. ]

What prize are you going to get?
withloadedguns: (Put your drawers on)

[personal profile] withloadedguns 2012-04-08 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I thought his face might be enough of a prize.

[He means the guy running the booth.]

Unless you had your eye on something.

[He'll let you keep the giant cuddly cow...or whatever that thing is.]
boutant: ([smile] down)

[personal profile] boutant 2012-04-08 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
It was pretty great.

[ Sorry, guy running the booth. ]

Well, we can't let a prize go to waste, can we?

[ And okay, the fact that he'd let her keep it is flattering. ]
withloadedguns: (I did it all for the money and fame)

[personal profile] withloadedguns 2012-04-08 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
No. Probably not.

[So. Whatcha gettin'?]
boutant: ([awe] can I do that?)

[personal profile] boutant 2012-04-09 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ She's looking, she's looking.

... That one. The obnoxiously orange spotted cow thing. ]
withloadedguns: (It's not a joke)

[personal profile] withloadedguns 2012-04-09 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
[...really?

Well. He did win it for her. Not in so many words, but someone'd better keep the prize. So.

He gives the man in the booth a good, serious look and nods towards the orange spotted cow...thing.]

That one.
boutant: ([smile] :>)

[personal profile] boutant 2012-04-09 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's that or the bright pink hippo.

Excuse her quiet glee while the man gets it down. ]
withloadedguns: (Know when to walk away)

[personal profile] withloadedguns 2012-04-09 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah. Better this than the hippo. And he'll excuse the glee. He doesn't want the prize, but he got to show off. That's just as good.

...actually, the glee is kind of endearing.]

He's all yours.
boutant: ([smile] close-up)

[personal profile] boutant 2012-04-09 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you.

[ And she definitely means it. He didn't have to let her keep it, after all. The obnoxiously colored cow is given a squeeze before she sets it on top of her messenger bag, using the bag and her thigh to keep it in place. ]
withloadedguns: (I got the pistol so I'll keep the pesos)

[personal profile] withloadedguns 2012-04-10 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Aww now, that's just a picture to be painted.

Anyway--he gives a sort of tug to the brim of his hat in salute to her. That's as much of a "you're welcome" as you're likely to get.]
