Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

That is good to hear. [ She doesn't care too much for the food, though the ice cream she had was very nice. ] I think it is customary to have a great amount of snacks at these sort of happenings.

Heh, I've never really been to one... Well, maybe when I was younger, but I don't remember much from back then. They had them all the time where I grew up, though.

No, not really. [He takes another bite from his funnel cake before he continues, seeming not bothered in the least by her question.] My family owns this farm, see, and a couple years back I had an accident... Fell from the barn loft, hit my head. My memory from before then hasn't been right since; I can remember some things but not all that well, and there are still a lot of things I don't remember at all.

I'm sorry. That must be difficult. [ Though he doesn't seem very bothered. ]

Not really. [More funnel cake, yum.] It can be frustrating sometimes, but the worst part of it is just that my parents have kept me close to home ever since then, really, like they're afraid I'll get hurt again. So I don't get out much.

But, uh— Thank you, anyway.

I suppose that is not so pleasant. Though at least you can visit the festival here, now. [ And at least he has parents to worry about him, she thinks but doesn't say out loud. ]
