Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

[ Moving over to the stand, smiling brightly at the vendor. ] Hello, good sir. Two portions of your finest fish fingers, please.

The very best only. [ Amy's grinning, still holding on to the Doctor. There's things to explore, now, even if it's only a festival. It's something, far better than nothing, and the Doctor's here with her. She's in a good mood. ]

I don't suppose you've any custard? [ The poor vendor shakes his head, very confused at the pair of them. ]

[ They come in cones, like chips, and he takes both and hands over the change, offering one to Amy as they walk away. ]

No custard, would you believe that?

It's almost like it's not a normal food combination. [ all the teasing. ]

[ Pretend muttering. ] The customer is always right.

It's fish fingers and custard.

[ laughing. ] Yeah. Yeah, all right. Guess I've fond memories of it, at least.

[ Nudging her before biting off the end of a fishfinger. With his mouth full. ] What shall we do?

Everyone seems happy, that's nice.

Yeah, 's nice. [ And strangely freeing, in a way. She feels less caged in today. ]

Look, they've got flame-breathers. Always wanted to know how that's done.

Doesn't it just involve a lot of spit?

[ Guding her through the crowd. ] Let's go and ask.

Wouldn't that put out the fire?

Spit with - I don't know, chemicals of some sort.

Fire spit?

[ Flustered. ] We'll ask instead.
