Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

[Rose is wandering around the festival paying about as much attention as Merlin is. She's also got her arms full of giant teddy bear so when they run into each other, she's quick to apologise.]

Oof! Sorry 'bout that. [She shifts the bear, peering at him from around it.] You're all right, yeah?

[A big teddy bear isn't exactly what Merlin expects to see when he whips around towards whatever he bumped into. In fact, that's the first time he sees one and it makes him jump back with a silent "whoa", and when Rose peeks around it he's just. Blinking.]

Uhm. Yeah, fine. [A pause, and then he points at the bear.] What's that?

[She looks the bear and then to Merlin.] Teddy bear. Won it from one of the games over there. [She points back in the direction behind her.]

Teddy bear.

[He tries the word out, and it feels a little funny on his tongue.]

Are they usually made that big?

[She sets the bear on the ground, making certain that the grass is relatively clean. She holds her hands apart about a foot and a half.] Usually 'bout this big. Children sleep with 'em and play with 'em. That sorta thing.

Oh. A soft toy?

[Never seen one in that shape.]

S'xactly. Just...bit bigger than usual. [She looks over her shoulder.] Doctor won it at one of the games over there.

Maybe I should give one a try too.

You'd have fun and there's lots more of these guys. [She pats the bear's head. He can probably use his magic to make things go in his favour. Not that Rose knows he has magic.]

That's the spirit. Ought to make sure and try some of the food too. Everything's on a stick. It's fantastic.
