Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

High school. [Euphie's feet narrowly escape being stepped on. Justin wasn't exaggerating his inability to dance.] That curse was interesting.

I think I remember a curse like that. It makes sense that I would. We were here for the same time without knowing each other I suppose.

[othersdie]

Probably. I knew of you before I ever spoke to you.

[deadly_legacy]

Knew of me? Do you mean in the play or even before that?

[othersdie]

Before that. [That sounds somewhat creepy, actually, but Justin tends to know of people just by virtue of paying attention to the network.] Neil and Todd might've mentioned you.

[deadly_legacy]

[She smiles and finds it kind of cute instead of creepy.] I'm glad I finally spoke to you then.

[othersdie]

[Euphie, your character judgment.] So am I.

[deadly_legacy]

[She just smiles.] Do you want to try a spin?

[othersdie]

Where I spin you? I just--sort of lift my arm up... is that how it works?

[deadly_legacy]

It's a little more involved. I could spin you to show you. [A teasing sort of smile.]

[othersdie]

Maybe you should spin me once so I know what I should do...? [After all, it's not like Justin has any dignity to lose.]

[deadly_legacy]

Okay. I should switch to the lead. [She moves her hands and nods for him to shift his too.]

[othersdie]

[He puts his hands where hers were on him, paying very close attention. There will be a test.] Okay.

[deadly_legacy]

Just move with the flow. [She takes him through a few steps and then begins to lead him through the spin. It's a little strange being on this side of it, but she used to dance with Nunnally when they were children and she'd lead then.]

[othersdie]

[He carefully follows her lead--and the spin is a success, with no toes broken. Justin moves his hands to their original positions.] Now I'll try...?

[She nods, returning her hands too with a smile.] Show me what you learned.

[othersdie]

[His brows furrow in concentration and he tries to imitate what Euphie did. A few steps and then he's leading her into a spin--not the best in the history of spins, but a spin nonetheless. He can't help but smile at that small success.]

[deadly_legacy]

[She helps him out with it and it's fun. All she could have asked for.] Very nice!

[othersdie]

At least no one needs to go to he hospital. [In spite of his words, he looks about as pleased with existence as he ever does.] I should go. I'm sure there are other people who want to dance when you.

[deadly_legacy]

[She smiles warmly at him.] I'm not sure that means you should go, but I did promise a few other dances, and I'm grateful there weren't any injuries.

[othersdie]

If I stay, will you tell me if you run out of dance partners?

[deadly_legacy]

I promise I will. [Remember that kiss on the cheek you were spared earlier, Justin? It was only delayed as she moves in to deliver it now.]

[othersdie]

[akflsjdkpublicdisplaysofaffection. After dancing, however, it's--well, it's Euphie, which automatically makes it acceptable.] Thank you.

[She's smiling as if no keymashing at all too place in her brain!] I'll see you later, Justin.
