Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

[Harry's not doing anything in particular - mostly just wandering around, chatting off and on, eating some food; it was more fun out here than in his apartment with the ticking all the time.

Hey look, that person looks familiar, if a slightly different height than before.]

[ She spots Harry, having to mentally note that he is not Lucy.

His first line gives her pause, makes her laugh inside. Okay. ]

Thanks. I ... am? [ Both? ] Kiss any strange women lately?

[He doesn't seem that sure about whether or not she's having fun. Or maybe his screwing up his own sentence is what caused the uncertainty. Oh well.]

Not that I know of. And hopefully I know, now that I'm all me again. Glad that's over. Bet you're glad you've got a Lucy-Lucy and not a Harry-Lucy.

[ It's a blanket I am. She's glad he's Harry-Harry and not Lucy-Harry. But, she doesn't know him very well past the... mid-30's and he likes compliments. He also has never used a hair straightener. How about that. ]

[That's honestly a lot more than he knows about her, so. Yay friendship?]

Well I think I ate enough hot dogs and onion rings with Lucy to last like, a week. We can go for... salty, for pretzels. Or the funnel stuff. Or like, actual food? Go in, order, wait a minute, type food. Don't have to sit down though.

[rehashing]

Are you asking me out? [ Because, that sounds like a sit-down, waitress/waiter combination real meal. She's just clarifying. ]

What? No. [Wait.] I mean, that came out too fast, not that I wouldn't, or won't, just that I said we didn't have to sit down - that wasn't a couch or anything, like 'Oh, I really want this but I'm gonna be cool and pretend like I don't', because somehow that's supposed to tell the other person the opposite of what you're saying without saying it. I meant just, you know, if you wanted better food. It tends to take longer. Did you want me to?

[rehashing]

... I've been here for two weeks. [ So, no. ] But, I can do lunch.

[captainfuckingmagic]

[Okay, good, because he hadn't meant to, but denying it like that always feels like it's sort of an insult.] Lunch is good. And hey, you know, here's hoping you're only here for another two. Although it's not so bad here sometimes. I've only been here a few months and I'm still working out how I feel about it.

It's not terrible. Not home either though. I'm not really a big fan of being forced to move around - [That's already happened enough for one lifetime, thanks.] - but the people are pretty okay. Like I said, I'm still sort of feeling it all out. Why, what do you think about it?

[rehashing]

[ Humor her. ]

I think that in some ways it makes things a lot less complicated. And in others... [ It doesn't. ] I thought there was... [ Something under the surface. He hadn't yet decided but -- they do. They all decide. First impressions and all that. ] Lunch?

[captainfuckingmagic]

[Okay he followed the first trailing off, but the second honestly didn't give him enough to work with, so he looks at her for a couple of seconds before visibly shaking off the thought process and responding to her question.]

Yeah! Uhh. Did we work out what sort of food? Because it was nix on the one that sounded like a date, right?

[rehashing]

I don't know, is there a certain food you find... as a date food?

No, I meant with the whole going in and sitting down or going in and not sitting down and just waiting for a minute. Orrrr was the food the part that made it a date?

[You know what. This is dumb.] You like tacos? [Because tacos can't be a date food.]

[ You're dumb. But, yes, she does. ]

I love tacos. [ It depends on the company you keep, thanks. ]
