Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

I'm not sure what we're festiving but there's food and beer so I'm good with it.

[He nods a bit.] Yup, not a huge fan of pickles even if you do put them on a stick.

[rehashing]

I think... Spring?

Me neither. But, they're being sold. [ She shoves her hands in her pockets. ] Did you give yourself the day off?

[dudeimbatman]

Nah, I'm sorta on duty. Just making sure everyone is being safe. [He takes a sip of his beer as he says this. Yes, he's 'on duty' and drinking a beer. This is the City.]

[rehashing]

Can I drink while on duty? [ Really only testing him as she crosses her arms. It's not like it's her place to care. Well, care on the surface. You're like her substitute Alaric but younger and hotter and not a father-figure. It's the alcohol. Which is also why you exude Damon, Dean. ]

If you can function? Yeah. Just don't get drunk. [He's pretty okay with drinking on the job. In fact, he's pretty sure the job drives you to drink.]

[rehashing]

[ She's not going to, but good to know that... the option's open? ] So, how did you get to be Chief of Police?

[dudeimbatman]

[He's an equal opportunity employer.] Someone had to take the job. No one else wanted it.

[rehashing]

Is it easy to enforce the law here?

[dudeimbatman]

Oh Hell no. It's impossible. We don't even really have laws here. No one can agree on what should be allowed and what shouldn't. I took the position and told people not to be dicks. We just try to keep people from hurting others.

[rehashing]

It says something. That you stepped up.

[dudeimbatman]

I'm a damned idiot. That's what it says.

[rehashing]

Oh, does it? [ an amused look up at him. ] I missed that. [ then again, everyone sees something differently. ] You're doing a good job.

[dudeimbatman]

[Dean snorts, but he appreciates the praise.] I'm doing a shit job, but it's the best I can do in these circumstances. [He pauses a second.] Thanks though. It's nice someone thinks so.

[rehashing]

You care. That means something. You're stepping up. You're trying. You get better with more experience. In no time you'll be an expert. Maybe I'll even call you Sheriff.

[dudeimbatman]

[Dean just chuckles at that.] Honestly, Dean is fine. I'd rather you call me that than anything.

[rehashing]

It was a joke, but, Dean it is. Dean Winchester. Sheriff. [ She smirks. ]

[dudeimbatman]

[He smirks at that.] All right. Whatever you want, Princess.

[rehashing]

You should probably get back to... patrolling.

[dudeimbatman]

This many people in one place? I am patrolling.
