Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

[Dean waves off the apology or maybe it's the sir. Either way, he's not concerned about it.]

It's a good day for it.

Both. it's a nice little celebration.

[He becomes far more serious.] I should apologize to you. I did not realize there was a curse.

[dudeimbatman]

[Dean shakes his head a bit.] Nah...it's...don't worry about it.

[The curse is definitely what made him think that was acceptable, but it's something he's thought about and had the urge to do without a curse.]

I won't, in part because I was not going to apologize anyway.

[He doesn't say it--largely because he doesn't know Dean well enough to be sure--but Chekov isn't convinced that the incident was all due to a curse. Dean seemed to know what he was doing; there's clearly more to him than an appreciation for classic cars.]

[That just makes Dean chuckle before he nods.]

Good. You shouldn't. Curse or not.

At all, or to you specifically?

To me specifically. There's always sometimes when you ought to apologize.

That is what I thought. I did not think that you were telling me to give up manners entirely.

Nah. Usually a good thing to have manners. [dean doesn't have that many of them, but he's got a few.]

Usually. [Now an important question.] How is your car?

[dudeimbatman]

[Dean chuckles at that.] She's doing awesome. I detailed the interior the other day.

[candothat]

Detail? [He looks a bit puzzled.]

[dudeimbatman]

Get all the dust and crap out of all the crevices so she's brand new shiny.

[candothat]

You must spend a good deal of time with her to keep her looking as she does.

[dudeimbatman]

[Dean thinks about it a second, frowning before he nods.] Yeah, guess I do. It's something I enjoy doing.

[candothat]

A hobby. [Chekov has been told to get a hobby. So far, this is the best example of a hobby that he has encountered.] Do you ever need help, detailing?

[dudeimbatman]

Yeah? You wanna learn how to work on her? [He ponders that a moment and then nods.] Sure. I could use some help.

[candothat]

[Oh, any and all misgivings are entirely forgotten.] I would, of course! [More calmly.] Yes, thank you. I promise I would be very careful.

[dudeimbatman]

Yeah, I'd expect you to be. Maybe once we get these murders cleared up, I'll have time to show you some of the basics.

[candothat]

I am eager to learn. [solemnly] Are murders difficult to solve here?

[dudeimbatman]

[Dean sort of makes a 'well yeah' kind of gesture.] Yeah. The people who are problems usually know how to cover things up or they're super powered or monsters and don't want to come willingly and there's no justice system. It's a clusterfuck.

Is anything ever solved?

[Sorry, but this system sounds like it sucks.]

Sometimes. If we get lucky.

[The truth is, more often than not, nothing gets solved.. The system sucks a lot.]
