Spring Festival [OPEN TO ALL!]
When; Friday, April 6 2012, afternoon into night
Rating; Various! Warn if you need to on individual threads.
Characters; EVERYONE EVER!
Summary; Spring festival
Log;
Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.
People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.
As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.
(OOC: As mentioned here please feel free to have your character/business set up a booth or stand or to be performing under the appropriate headings! They can be doing if for money, free, or charity. General Mingle | Booths: Games/Merchandise | Food Stands | Entertainment/Street Performers | Dance)

[ She shifts slightly, turning toward him more when he says her name, only to see his device. Oh-- ]
I can explain it, if you'd like.
[ Which, well, seems to be the reason he's brought it up. She shifts again, pulling her own device out of her pocket. It's not held anywhere nearly as tenderly as Jast is holding his. ]
I'll show you what to do using mine, and then you can try it using yours, okay?

no subject
Here's how to turn it on.
[ And a pause to make sure he can do it. ]
no subject
Hm.
[He smiles, glad that she's willing to be patient with him while he figures this nonsense out.]
no subject
[ Another button press, and she turns her device slightly, tapping it. ]
There's a camera here, see? It records your image so people can see it. There's a microphone built in, too, so people can hear you.
no subject
How... is it so small?
no subject
Of course, these could be magic, too. I'm not actually sure.
no subject
A little magic.
[He thinks... maybe he could alter its form, if he tried, but he's concerned with breaking it, as much of the magic in this place is not known to him. He would rather swallow his pride and be taught how it functions, than have to swallow his pride and apologize for ruining it.]
no subject
[ Back to teaching, since she's not sure what to add to that. She demonstrates on her device again. ]
no subject
It is... difficult? W-when I can't see.
[He gets even more nervous about trying to speak this language that he can't really speak...]
no subject
Is there anything else that's difficult?
no subject
[He leans into her, putting his cheek on her shoulder. He is very open about touch, all wardens are, and touching him in kind gives off the most interesting sensation: a crisp, clean feeling, like rain just fallen. It's a sensation that follows him most places, spreads when he sings. He is the augur. He is pure. It is a difficult fact to ignore.]
Read. These.
[He shows her a few of the various menus. If he were able to read them, he might be able to figure some of it out himself. What he really needs is something voice activated...]
no subject
I'm not sure if I'd be any good at teaching you how to read, but I might be able to find a way around it. I know some very smart people who are good at working with technology.
no subject
[He would like to be able to read, he loves stories.]
But, mm. T-there are prices to be paid. F-for seeing, and singing.
[His inability is a magical one, not a mental one. He can write his own name, perhaps a few awkward and disjointed sentences. Speaking is poor, reading almost nonexistent. That's just the way of things.]
no subject
[ Her head tilts, and she thinks for a moment before nodding. ]
So in order to sing, you can't read. There could be worse prices, I guess, but it's too bad.
no subject
Difficult. Sometimes.
no subject
[ Yes, we. ]
